It's like your front door is broken and won't close properly and instead of fixing it, the company responsible for it says nothing is wrong with your front door and that it's supposed to be like this. Instead they'll paint a random window in your house, for free, twice. Why would anyone be happy with this?

there are some people who don't like MP(myself included) so the whole free MP stuff is a moot point. anyway endings suck and I don't have high hopes for EC

I doubt I'm alone in saying the EC will decide my future interest in Mass Effect. The MP stuff is nice but no quality control is being done on current content (as far as we know, nobody tells us anything).

I don't know where all the extended cut hope is coming from. Those who hated the original ending and are expecting something different from the extended cut are going to be disappointed.

Indoctrination Theory was not planned.

Per their FAQ, the endings will remain the same, only explained better with their repercussions via addtional cutscenes and cinematics. They will explain that we did not in fact destroy the universe, but only did what the catalyst says we did, per their original intent.  There will likely be an epilogue where you see what happened to your crewmates.

If you were merely upset at the lack of closure, this is your thing. If you were like many of us put off by the original ending and hate the catalyst, the choices we were given, etc. etc., every indicator seems to point to 'we will be disappointed again'.

Correct you are not alone, the EC will be the deciding factor for me also, does not matter whether it's I.T or not so long as it's good, if it's good I'll stick around and sing their praises, if not I'll stick around lurking and watch the forum go into another furor.

Per BioWare's statements ME3 would have a lot of sophisticated endings and really no A,B,C endings. There would also be a lot of closure for those who sought it and all questions would be answered.

Yeah look how that turned out. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. I'm not taking BioWare's word on anything until I see proof.

Mind you, I'm not convinced the EC will actually fix anything but I still have hope they're not telling us everything. The current ending is simply too ridiculous. No sane person at BioWare could think it's good and any attempt to defend it was obvious pr bs.

If I'm wrong they'll most likely try to explain the ending choices - and fail miserably of course - probably making the entire thing even worse.

Either way I haven't played ME since I finished ME3 and doubt I ever will again if BioWare fails once more with the EC.

i have this opinion of mine/feeling that the MP DLC's were always planned to be free and had nothing to do with the outrage over the endings etc but yeah i share your feeling for the EC

The release of more MP DLC is insult, because there are much more important things in the game that need fixing. Like the face import bugs (ok, the community made a fix for that) and the FOV and Camera position on the PC version. Why aren't those things fixed yet? If you have the time to make more pointless MP DLC surely you can fix those issues.

Ok. Let's get on topic. The ending sucked. I can't wait for the EC to see how bad you (Bioware) screwed up again. What? Did I hurt your feelings? I'm sorry if I did. I am in bad mood today. Actually I have been in a bad mood since March 8.

Yeah... and yet for some reason I'm still drawn to BW games.... oh wait the series that I'm playing the crap out of, Baldur's Gate, was before they teamed up with EA, BACK WHEN THE Y WERE ACTUALLY GOOD~!

Personally, besides the fact that I too am skeptical about the EC's ability to "fix" the myriad of issues with the ending of ME3, what bothers/worries me most right now is the whole EMS/Forced MP debacle.

I have been perusing the internet since March 8th and so far, I see no evidence that the "best" ending can be achieved without playing MP.

And I HATE MP. I suck at shooters, and the fact that the ME franchise has a very heavy RPG mindset is what attracted me to it.However the MP focuses solely on the battle aspect of the game and that is unfair to those of us who either do not like or are terrible at it (I'd be both tbqh).
I sincerely hope Bioware will make it possible to get to the magical 5000 EMS mark without the MP in the future. Seeing their track record with what I'd like to see happen vs. reality, that hope is slim at best.

Somehow I just knew someone would start a new thread for this... Forgive us for being offtopic when there's been no news on the EC for months.

Why did I hate the ending? Narrative meltdown in the final 10 minutes of an otherwise pretty good game. I mean, sure, the number of conversations you can have with your teammates has been dropping since the original game. Aside from Bulk Bigflank--I mean, James Vega, for some reason we can talk to him all we want. I was interested in the Mass Effect anime until I heard it was going to be about him.

So the Space Brat comes in and suddenly the narrative is wrecked. And then we don't know what happens to the fleet that came to fight the Reapers with us, or if Earth survived, unless we follow developer twitter accounts. The ending is so laughably vague and incomplete, after having been promised closure. It's like Casey Hudson wasn't even told what the ending would be before he opened his mouth. He said that the smaller squad was to increase character development among the cast, apparently he meant with Vega, Liara, and Javik if you buy him.

The game in general, despite being pretty good, wasted a lot of potential. I assume it's so it could be released on EA's schedule to try and make up for it's losses. And don't get me started on the DLC fiasco. There was more drama surrounding the release of ME3 than there was in the game.

I see the free mp dlc as a distraction tactic.
They know people are pissed about the ending so they offer free mp dlc as shiny dangling keys.
I hate the argument, "well it's FREE"... It being free doesn't make it good, or relevant, and it certainly doesn't negate the fact the game was rushed out the door for the biggest short term profit.

I just saw Michael Gamble's twitter where he says all the teams are involved when making mp dlc. Which I thought was funny, because they got so defensive when we asked if mp was taking resources away from sp, and they said it was a separate team doing mp. So which is it? A single separate team doing mp, or all the teams like Michael Gamble says.

It seems amazing that a single player rpg series is putting so much emphasis on mp now, I'm sure this is EA trying to prepare us for ME MMO, which will microtransact itself into oblivion.

I'm still waiting on the EC to decide on my relationship with BioWare in the future. I used the old thread to see if there was any news, it seems I'm unable to do that now. So I'll stick to this thread for a while, but post decidedly less.

It is, its almost "freemium" since grinding alone is not a surefire way to get the character and wepaons you want, so they know people will pay away for it. There is lots of things to hold the wallet for, From ashes if you did not buy it, all the crappy accessories/ hoodies and robot dogs and weapons for campaign ect ect. Even real life merchendise
