Cannon go boom.

Anyway, EU stands for "Expanded Universe," the vast majority of which is considered "canon" by Lucasfilm Licensing (not George himself, he's too busy becoming an auteur filmmaker and ruining the films). That's what the Mass Effect series has been going for with the various novels and iPhone games (yes, there's even at least one Star Wars iPhone game) and other products. However, unless the EC turns everything around and/or cures at least one type of cancer, then such a Mass Effect Expanded Universe won't be very profitable at all.

At least in this poster's humble opinion.

*In the new graphic novel series "Mass effect pretentenuitydesitinyshadowwarultimatechaostheoryeliminatortheuntoldstory" explore the adventures of a guy nobody cares about where we totaly ignore the fact the galaxy is nuked in the end and everyone is screwed and we just go on as normal...*

The point still stands. All the DLC so far has been free. I've never understood Hold The Wallet.

The DLC content, until now, wasn't worth anything! Just some cheap Multiplayer additions that shouldn't cost anything no matter what. Where is our free Single Player DLC that FIXES the game? Just look at the Witcher 2! They made a huge enhance edition completely for free.

ME 3 is a Single Player game first! MP is a nicel little addition and nothing more. Give us new SP content. FIX the ending. As it stands right now ME3 is a poor game. The initiona hype is over, so I can see more clearly now. The poor dialogue choices, the smaller char roster, Tali's face, the stupid "sidequests" that you overhear on the citadel, and so on... All this suchs and wasn't worth 50€.

If we're going for value of the game, then i'd say it was only worth 10£ at most...

I'd say that Bioware has to pay me for wasting nearly 300 hours of my life for nothin'.

I too feel that those who are enjoying MP and it's EPs are perfectly valid. (responding to general statements, not one specific post in the past 9 pages.) However, I still maintain that the MP aspect should have been it's own separate game and not try to "add" to what was once one of the best SP games ever (Kinda like how Fallout: Tactics was a separate game though not MP).

MP is what is making their money now and beyond whatever this EC "clarifies" for us, it'll be MP that gets the care and attention. So for those who enjoy MP that's great but it still blows chunks for those of us that had no interest in MP and just wanted to finish out our personal adventures on a high note.

Exactly! And even if you like the MP, you've got to admit it gets really old, really quickly... Its just infinite horde-mode...

Starkid, three color choices,Mp affecting the entire series by being needed for the better ending.ME3 was made for multiplayers/newplayers and to ignore the single/returning player. What matters in ME3..EMS and how do you get the highest EMS?Multiyplayer.Who has the most connection with ME1 and ME2 squadmates?Old returning players,New players don't really care who gets killed off or why.Whos more miffed about the way the series ended? The old returning player who bought all the games and DLC.I've got 5 charters ready for the real ME3 and one stuck in ME2 .Hundereds of hours down the tubes, planing to get every resourse, hord all the credits and keep my squad alive in two for nothing. The One stuck in 2 is the only Shepard to find all twenty repair aliens(yes can't remember what they are called)on the Citadel, and now that achievement won't matter a hill of beans. That stupid ending killed it all.Image IPB

Does anyone remember the old "Highlander" movies? They made Highlander 2 and it was totally out of context from the first. It was also a bad movie, which didn't help. So how did the franchise handle the change in canon when they made Highlander 3? They ignored the second movie. It never happened.

I realize this is Bioware's world and they can do to it what they want, but I hate to see what could rival Star Wars whimper and die like this. I would like to see a whole new expansion (like DA:Awakening, maybe) that replaces Priority: Earth. The game could start right after the Cerberus base is destroyed and just ignore the version tha t is in ME3. "Yeah, that never happened and we won't mention it any more. Enjoy ME3.5 and buy more DLC."

Unless the EC does way more than they stated it would, I'm with this guy.

I want compensation for emotional damage done.

There's a lot of us who would like that. But Bioware's claims are that the EC will merely elaborate on the existing endings, without adding new ones. Meaning Star Child stays, and the ending as a whole remains mostly the same.

They've been deleting every new Highlander movie from canon from the second one on. The writing may have improved but never by much.

i cant stop laughing as we are going to be told about the mass effect mmo this year.

they cant run a star wars mmo right so what makes them think a mass effect mmo will work.

EA and biowares reputation has nose dived HARD and FAST that hardly anyone will trust them for what they have done to there customers.

think about it, calling there wage makers "entitled brats" and then saying other crap about the players and in some cases some retarded assintine comments about there INVESTORS.

the mass effect 3 damage has been done it was the single biggest game of the year to be launched and it was great ............
UNTILL we all found missing missions
missing back storys
TOTAL REJECTION of all of our choices
telling porkie pies (LIES) in EVERY SINGLE promotional interview

the ending content better be REALLY EPIC GOOD or i think we MIGHT see bioware shutdown

It's one of the theories about the weird non-sensical ending... It might fit for an MMO set a few hundred years after the events of Mass Effect... And since all games must either be MP or MMO these days, im afraid alot of people are gonna stop caring about video games... I play video games to get away from other people, why would I want to play with them all of a sudden?Image IPB

Exactly!

btw if they make an ME MMO, then they don't know what Mass Effect is all about. It's about the characters, roleplay and story. YOUR personal story.
But hey, EA is ruining everything they get their greedy hands on. Seriously, I want this company dead!

I dont want them dead... I just want them to stop thinking with their ''money-boners'' and start thinking with their heads... If they dont, they might go belly up some time in the future... They be spending more money than they're earning...

I hope this is on topic so here goes; Does anybody really thing the EC DLC is actually going to change anything? Personally I think it will just cause more sadness. They're not changing the ending just adding to it from what little Bioware has said about it. I'm almost afraid to get it worrying that it'll just make things worse. Hoping I can at least get closure but is that enough?

I just hope that they do the EC right to where major questions are answered but the only thing open is if IT is still on the table. So that they don't totally get rid of that idea

Having read the "ME3 Final Hours" app over the weekend (Why it's iOS exclusive makes me mad) it made clear of a few things:

-The initial concept of Mass Effect was Casey's idea not Drew's. The concept grew into the Mass Effect we all know and love as a team collaboration but the initial seed was Casey's idea.

- I'm glad ME was released to PC as Microsoft wanted it exclusive to xbox. I'm a PC gamer.  This may have been EA's doing.

-Mass Effect was from very early in design planned as a "Trilogy".   I think this blinded them to the possibility that there was too much to do in ME3 for just one game and should have asked it to be split into two games with DLC in between games.

-The "Organic-vs-Synthetic" conflict was part of Mass Effect from early development. ME1 sets this up well but ME2 totally changed the conflict and the team perhaps didn't realize this.

-ME3 was rushed. Shortest development time of the three and most ambitious. Launching on PS3, XBox and PC at once plus the scope of the game with all the character & story arcs that needed to be addressed.  (see point 3 above)

-Burn out. It sounded like Casey and the team were pushed too hard and maybe got burned out. Forcing them to rush and make poor judgement on cuts to the game & story.

-Indoctrination was part of the ME3 plot plan, but I don't think to the extent that the IT guys have taken that idea.

It might be for some people... As for myself, im going to be analyzing it, instead of immersing myself in it... Mass Effect is about the Story, the Choices, the Consequences and finally Immersion... We play the games as our very own Shepard... Not the one BW has forced us to play in ME3... No choices from the first 2 games mattered... Killed the rachni queen? she's back... Destroyed the collector base and everything inside? Cerberus has it... And I could go on... But no one wants to listen to me ranting about every error in ME3...

I really doubt it, it would be in direct compettion with swtor, and seeing how well thats doing EA would be mad. They may be evil but they do have financial sense. (And please don't give me pissing off customers is not good sense ect ect becuase its pontless)

First the ending needs to be emotionally satisfying then we can hope some other issues will be addressed.

Tyion133, I agree there is issue with shortcuts the Devs had to do with time, like the Rachni mission, it's already been confirmed they planned an alternate mission but ran out of time.

I also wish they didn't use the Zaeed style crew conversation system with the Normandy crew. Plus the fetch-quests, I wish some were real missions instead of just scan-and-go. Both are probably a victim of them running out of time.
