For me I didnt quite like the direction they do with sequels. It seems like the further the game goes, the more it deviates from its original playstyle. DA2 felt like a button masher to me and it was far to confined for my taste. TOR was fun till I finished leveling and was completely bored after. I would have loved it if it was a single player game.DoctorEss wrote...

Am I really alone in thinking DA2 was pretty alright? Or that I don't understand why people dislike TOR?
I mean, I'm right there with you on ME3, but... I can't make myself hate DA2 or TOR. :-/ Sorry.
When do you think we'll next hear something official?

Nope, not alone at all. Yes both DA games are not that well connected player character wise, but i didn't go into either expecting that (hell, reading the game blurbs on the packaging/websites will tell you that much!). They play differently, DA2 looks a generation better than Origins (no small thanks to the Hi-Res Texture pack...that would be LOVED for ME2/3 as well) and i am thoroughly enjoying both games - yes, they are both on hold at the moment for ME3/Diablo 3Cthulhu42 wrote...

As for when we'll hear something...when it's rerady to be heard ie when they are close to a release date, most likely.
@Chris - you do a great job here, take a load of crap that 99.9% seems to wash off, but you wouldn't be human if some of it stuck now and then. Thanks for the updates you give us as they become available

Who, um, promoted you to boss of everyone anyway? You aren't the boss of me!

Yes. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. But it's amazing what more you can accomplish when people squeak in a mature, intelligent, respectful manner than threatening people's lives, demanding their money back or raging like a child.

Well then...I never called anyone nams, threatened anyone...I raged like a big scary adult male and did get my money back (not during said raging...said raging was done at my desk with fists pounding desk and words yelled at the sky).

And for the record i am not "attacking" a Bioware employee, i am simplying voicing my upset and disatisfaction about the way we are spoken to sometimes.
Yet when I do it....
^This is like listening to my teenage sister - her argument for everything is either "the other kids do it too" or "if you think i'm bad you should see/hear my friends/classmates. Just because someone else says or does something does not make it okay.
When you do it too it is counter-productive. I'd say "child-ish" but given my understanding from personal experience of dealing with customer negativity daily it just really seems like Chris could REALLY use a vacation to get his head back in the right state of mind for dealing with the internet. The things said in these forums is nothing new to the type of forum chatter, might be for Bioware or for Chris but not to the internet. It seems like he is a good guy and does care what we have to say, the video of the PAX East interview he seemed to care A LOT more than Mike Gamble (IMO he seems to seriously blame the fans for not liking the ending as in it's our own fault it's bad... yet we weren't the ones who created it or chose it, we were only stuck with it) I'm not saying he's a bad guy btw, i'm only saying it APPEARED as if he thinks that way. he is *entitled* to his opinion too (i know fans HATE that word now, sorry) But seriously Chris, you seem like a great guy just in need of a paid vacation or something. You have been extremely active in this mess since it started despite what some say. And this may dissolve what I just said but to the people who seem to be worshipping him like he's THE ME God or something his name is Chris not Christ. (that may get edited out for touching religion, my fault I'm aware) He is a man frustrated at negativity. It DOES come with the job though and most people can't handle it and I don't want it to consume you Chris, don't get indoctrinated. Everyone needs a step back sometimes, let people talk trash, then jump in with calming remarks... much like dealing with violent drunks at a bar. I appreciate the free MP DLC we got btw, EA probably hated that (possible $24-40/person between the 2 of them so far.)

Me: *sigh*
I don't know, I think a fair point is being made, we're not really getting actual information. We're getting PR and spin. I'm sure the extended cut looks great! I'm hoping it redeems the franchise myself. It's company policy to never admit fault or problems as it hurts sales, which I can understand. But ME3's ending problems are too big to ignore.
I mean, the fact an "Extended cut" is being made at all is a tacit acknowledgement there are problems. The language of course is "Some fans felt the ending was too abrupt." which is about blaming others rather than taking responsibility.
How would you have felt if BP went "Well, some people are upset at the Deepwater Horizon disaster but we're working hard on the problem and above all, we're listening"? Of course one is fictional entertainment and one is a real life disaster but the comparison is appropriate for the point I'm trying to make.
It feels like yet another insult after the ending for Bioware's company policy to keep up the charade that ME3's ending wasn't a problem. I'd be nice for someone high up to just admit "Yeah we dropped the ball". I feel like Patrick Weekes is the only one who's really addressed concerns so far. Everytime he speaks out it's like "This guy gets it".

These things work both ways - if you want people to be nice and engage you, you should probably try to be nice to them as well, not glorify them or whatever, just being a decent human being. Too bad manners don't mean much on a faceless medium like the internet. I sincerely doubt most of the crybabies on this forum would have the guts to spurt out such bile to a man's face.

Another nail in the coffin. And it proves, once more, that the PR department is still running the show.
Yes, we are listening...
And your little "yes we are listening" thing... yeah. Awesome. This is exactly the sort of thing that makes us want to announce. "Why aren't the Devs telling us anything? Why have they stopped talking? Why are they ignoring us?" Gee... I wonder why?
Your skin must be 1mm thick. To stop announcements because a couple people are a bit moody? Lol.

Yes, but I just wrote about how now is not yet the time to do this. So, after immediately saying that I understand you want information but I am not at a position for it to be given, you seemed to be saying that you want me to post when I can give you the information I said I can't give you yet?
But what if you have information but the only reason you can't give it is that you're being held hostage by batarian pirates? Chris, cough twice if you're being held hostage by batarians.

not necessarily. I garuntee you they will announce some kind of DLC for MP. Even if they dont, its only a matter of time until they do.
And what do we get if your guarantee is wrong? Just curious.
We'll give you a half-assed, poorly designed and prioritised, and overall lacklustre game with a bad ending.
Or maybe we won't, and we'll just claim that we will. But it'll be your fault that we blatantly lied.

The BSN community seems to be a prime example of "Give them an inch and they'll take a mile". Do you get to voice your concerns to the BioWare developers - yes. Do you always get to have your way - no, sorry. I find it to be incredibly brash and impudent to be spurting out demands to people who willingly engage in an open discussion with you and then, when things don't roll the way you want them to, proceed to trash them and their company at every possible opportunity.

Actually consumers get to make requests and even the dreaded demands
It's funny you use the phrase "Don't bite the hand that feeds" to address consumers, when it's really the other way around. Especially for a video game development company.
Also do you know when a Mass Effect developer is next going to out in the wild in the southern united states? I'm more than willing to take up your challenge and point out the specific problems in Mass Effect's ending in person. Aggressive, but respectfully of course.

No, you wouldn't.
Let's not be delusional and paint BioWare as a company of emotional children who are so afraid of criticism and mean words that they refuse to share information with the community until everyone steps in line to give them a hug; or let them know that they are the greatest developers on the planet.
BioWare is not sharing any new information with the community because there is no relevant new information to share.
Priestly made a point earlier which was 100% true. If they had something to present to the audience, PR and the devs would get a case of verbal diarrhea trying to get us to know about it in the hopes of getting us more interested in their work.
