So after trying to figure out how to use the AJ to good means I finally accepted the OP's propositions and found the AJ to just fit my aggressive playstyle while providing survivability. Great post, valuable guide. It totally added to a lot of fun for me.

Many thanks.

I've played with you and am AMAZED at how good you are with the Justicar. I LOVE this character but cannot place effective bubbles like you. The glitch that prevents me from dropping a bubble if there's an enemy nearby makes the playstyle a suicide attempt on gold. I asked you via PM how you overcome this glitch but you didn't respond.

I also find that whenever I just run nearby an enemy to place a bubble, I die because I just melee stun locked or instant grabbed/stabbed/slammed.

First make sure you are not too close to the enemy. Leave the amount of space it takes to play the bubble animation. NExt make sure your crosshair doesn't point at an enemy(a.k.a. turns red). Best thing to do is not running at the enemy but next to them so you're clear.
If that doesn't help either (too many enemies around), look at the floor, move backwards (in case you're still too close) and spam the bubble button.

Approach from the flank whenever possible. Try to stagger enemies with headshots or (light) melee. Always approach bosses from behind, except Brutes and Ravagers. Ravagers ain't really doing anything once you get close, feel free to approach as you wish.
Best way to get Brutes is to Reave, let them charge at you (and dodge, obviously) place the bubble while they recover, Dash back and Reave. Repeat once and you're good.
Be careful with Phantoms. Out in the open it's basically Reave, headshot, headshot, Bubble. You have to be fast, though, to stagger the Phantom with the BE before you go down. In CQ just play hide and seek.

Just wanted to say thanks to the OP, his build and advice has made me able to do very well on Gold. It's a very fun class. It's so satisfying and it never gets old.

Glad you found it useful.

I'm using structural ergonomics V now for a 15% power recharge speed on my gear too. Its amazing.

Buying 20k vet packs is probably the quickest way to level that gear up.

The OP forgot to add Guardians to the list.  If you get behind them pull works instantly or if in front requires 2 pulls which doesn't take long to do.

i usually take the Mattock on the Justicar...but i might take the Harrier and try it ou

I recently switched to using the Mattock from Carnifex and so far I am liking it and I still have 200% cooldown.  My Harrier is still low in level which leaves me with something like 120% cooldown so I was going to wait till I got a few more levels.  However I did say the same thing about the Paladin and 2 months latter I am still waiting for those levels.

First post, last paragraph:

"Pull also works great against guardians. It rips their shields right off of them. I used to pull off their shields then
shoot them but since pull recharges so fast I just pull the shield off, pull  them in the air and reave them in an instant. This helps save on ammo and delivers damage from the biotic combo to anything in close proximity
to the guardian."

I might have forgot them in the list though....

Thanks OP for the guide.

I'm learning Silver now and AJ is my class of choice. (with Talon)

Offensive bubble is the way to go, teammates move around too much for Defense to be as useful, IMO.

Sneaking up to bubble Atlases is fun.

Now if they would only fix Justicar rank five.... /grumble

I haven't played ME for awhile, but I got about eight house in the last two days using the same build. I call this style WNBA Fastbreak Street Ball, and I love it. Once people see what I'm doing, it's hilarious how many times they will apologize if they shoot just one of five targets that are glowing from reave before I slam the bubble on their domes. It's easy to go for style over substance with this build, and that is fine. It may have been mentioned, but I use pull all the time - not just rounds 1,2, and 4. With it's quick cool down, it also works great on phantoms to get them into their Air Jordan pose, so you can ping them in the head or let your reave cook. If I reave a marauder and bum rush him, and I slam the bubble to their domes and wait for the boom. If a guy booms out the bubble. instead of reaving him I ping him with my carni so he is now to health, and then I pull-reave-boom. Exit stage right with an electric side.

A tip on bosses, if it's concentrated fire from your team on a boss, it's awesome to be on the boss' flank or backside. They won't turn around while getting non-stop fire, and your BEs will keep them staggering. Great strategy when your team is not hella good,

Cyro Ammo is a no brainer for optimal fun.

I use the same gear, but I'm ow wondering if the mental focus one that increases power may BE more enemies to health and not leave any shields remaining.

Great stuff.  Justicars are one of my favorite classes good to see them get some love.  I usually hedge on the bubble, going more defense and taking the warp sphere at 6.  I have taken a racket to the face and only lose a quarter of my shields before, and just ignore grenades altogether.  Justicar is an amazing tank when playing against non-geth, but my build is less effective when I don't get the DR from reave.

Any tips on staying tanky against synthetics?

Some team tactics:
Pheonix adept/vangaurd smash and warp bubble through walls.  Having tactical scan or hunter mode helps too.  Basically the Justicar keeps spamming warp sphere while the pheonix smashes and detonates things on the other side of the wall.  They can't retailiate against you and the staggers from the BE slow them down.  Tactical scan slows movement speed in addition to seeing the target through wall.  Most things die before even making eye contact with you.

Geth turrent and defensive sphere: Basically a two man fortress.  The justicar tanks with the bubble and reave while the geth engineer heals you and provides cover support.  The defensive bubble lessens the drawbacks of hunter mode as well.

Does it increase the power of BE's though? That is why I shy away from it. BE's are a set amount depending on the rank of the power and the difficulty of the enemy (the damage scales with harder levels). I know it will make reave and pull stronger but I'm not sure the gear actually makes BE's stronger. Is there any documentation on this?

sorry to be the downer, but....

You had an Adept below you on every "test".

Top scorer without that and I'd be impressed. AJA with a detonater on the team it is pretty easy to be tops. When I play AA with an AJA, I usually spam throw, and match goes like lightening, the AJA is on top, and I get lots of assists...

You must not have read thr captions. Lots of those games were two justicars, and some where I was riding solo. I posted a variety.

Silly question that I haven't seen answered, if you stack two bubbles on top of each other, do the damage bonuses stack? What about the defense bonus, and the armor debuff? I've always wanted to know. THX
