There has been a bit of confusion over the date/times of Operation Shieldwall.
Contrary to what was original posted and what I had mention in an earlier thread, the final decision from the brass is that Operation Shieldwall extended past 0000 because we forgot to do something.

yup, the ball was still dropped, but in a wonderfully convoluted way this time, and no amount of fangoonery will change that. good thing i have all 4 comm pack weapons or i'd be even more annoyed/screwed.

I played this one smart. I promoted 3 characters soon as i saw the Op Weekend splash screen. Then i promoted 3 more 24 hours later. Plan ahead ppl
I also promoted three classes as soon as the Operation started... Then I remembered that my "send info" setting was set to off.
Also! Yesterday, while in a mission against Cerberus, a Banshee appeared (as per the operation's special circumstances) and someone (he sounded like a pre-teen or young teenager) said in an alarmed tone, "Why is there a Banshee?!?!" I LOLed.

UTC-08:00 or GMT-08:00 for anyone foreign to North America.
Areas affected are in daylight savings time atm, so events could end an hour before you expect.
(with PDT, 7 hours difference instead of 8?)
Completing objectives at least 1 hour early before the end time is probably wise!

I personally had all chars maxed and only promoted 3 of them for the event... why would I want to waste time to relevel them again? After all there is no real reason to promote except to respec without a respec card.

I didn't come across anyone in the past two days doing it at all, when still in the lobby.

I hereby present my humble request for you to provide times in UTC as well from now on for the sake of all the European gamers. I dare to deem such effort only reasonable considering the highly international nature of the industry.

Sorry guys, if I knew I had more time then I would have contributed more. I did get 10 promoted, though.
Please keep information consistent and fully detailed across the site/blog/etc. for future operations.
A live tally has been echoed by many users and I hope to see it happen. I would like to see a bar graph with ticks to delineate each hour in the operation against the victory objective.

I went by the blog and it looks like I barely squeezed in my last promotions, a few minutes before the 5PM pacific time came came due. But now learning that the deadline was extended, I could have had several more units promoted in that time.

And yes, I know the whole world isn't America, which if anything reinforces my point. Use UTC to list times and avoid confusions caused by Standard/Daylight or anything else.

They have GOT to switch to making the time announcements in UTC. I keep repeating this at every operation, but saying something is starting in PST (Pacific STANDARD Time) when no place in America in the pacific zone is even in Standard time right now (They are in PDT (DAYLIGHT) time) just makes it more confusing. Because frankly, it seems like even though they are saying STANDARD, the events actually start at the stated hour in DAYLIGHT. And now Mountain Standard Time, with the same issue that most places in the Mountain time zone are actually in DAYLIGHT savings and not STANDARD.

Indeed.
Or make it even easier. Add some sort of mission timer, which shows you how long you have before the challenge will end. Now this timer could be similar to what there used to in store with PSP's and Jumbo packs, when we had them only for a one week at the time. This system showed us when the packs will expire and when you can't buy them any longer. Because of this people knew exactly how long they had time to gather credits and buy those packs.
Now Bioware should be doing something similar with these challenges. Add some timer in MP menu, which shows you how much you have time before the challenge will end.
This way people would know exactly, when the challenges will end and you wouldn't need to deal with PST or MST or any other timezone issues or post multiple post in forum to ask, when the challenges will really end.
Of course this is a suggestion.

Neither Derek nor the original blog used 'standard' time. The blog said 'pacific time' and Derek said 'times mountain.'
