Theory : The guys you played with were guys who played SP in Insanity for two full months. Ergo, the skill level in gold.

They play once or twice in bronze, laugh a lot, then switch to silver, play a few games, had some fun at the end of the games, then switched to gold to find a challenge level matching the one they are used in SP.

Low N7 guys one month ago were casual MP players with few experience.
Low N7 guys now are SP Insanity Otakus who seek ultimate challenge.

Yup, you're forgetting people spend real money on this game. I've seen N7 1's with Black widow III's before.

Does anyone have stories about the new anti-leeching mechanic? I was hoping the OP story was going to go like this:
"I had 3 leechers. They got booted after 2 minutes and were replaced by the most awesome team ever!"

that's fne, you're entitiled to your opinion, but just know this. There will probably never be a picture with any threads I make. I don't have the money for a fancy gaming capture card, camera that can upload to a computer, or one of those fancy phones that do everything. Hell, I don't even have a phone! So unless you want me to draw a picture of the end game results, and mail it to you, it's not going to happen. Sorry, :/

Well, I so happen to have a pic related to a story like this. Myself (GT: KueIIer) and some guy I'd never played with before had two of our teammates quit on us on Wave 3 of Firebase Reactor, Gold, vs. Reaper.

And my N7 level had just barely cracked 300 at the time. Figured it would be relevant to the recent changes.

I wonder if the three N7 20 guys were friends, 'cause that took a lot good team work to achieve "on the go". And the speculation that they may have beaten the SP game at a really high difficulty might ring true too. In any case, these guys are definitely not n00bs! I certainly was a n00b when I started because I didn't even know about biotic explosions, let alone survive on any difficulty above Bronze when my N7 level was less than 30.
