Whoever wrote the intro needs to be fired...

lol every line from Shepard during the first 10 minutes makes me cring. It doesn't do much to get you invested in the fact the reapers are there, when it sounds like Shepard is so blase or just plain daft about it.

I also hate alot of his dialogue with Tali in ME3. So often tali says things like "I love you". All Shepard says is "I know".

I found the joke to be OK. I had a problem with being forced ot take the loss of Thessia so personally. Its a thousand more times the asari's fault for not doing anything for two and a half years and giving the appearance of being more advanced and intelligent than other species, when it was all loaned from the Protheans.

when talking to Wrex in ME1 and comparing the genophage to the
Turian-Human war.

omg yes. The FIRST time I played through the game I was like 'wut' because I had read the codex and knew about the genophage and how it wasn't the same thing. I actually didn't have a problem with Shepard at first saying tha tthe Turians tried to kill off the humans, but then when Wrex mentioned its not the same he should have realized and agreed.

Are you serious ?
Each species have some crap ...

Humans - pro-human terrorist organization which hates aliens, and stay behind lot of ****s since ME1, in ME2 playing for good guys but in third they are same what salarians... even worst
has acces to own Prothean archives - for 30 years and what did they found ? nothing ...?

Turians -
everytime when comes to conflict they respond with blewing it to hell, well Shianxi, Tuchanka bomb and lot of others...

Quarians - Ummm, well great we create synthetics which start question why we created them so we decide to kill them all but **** happens and we were almost on the edge of extinction and for 300 years in exile.

Batarians - Well racist bastards which has too Prothean Archives, well lol they even managed to awake Leviathan gg

Hannar - For their great knowlendge of enkindlers they must had something on their homewolrd too

It was Salarian explorers which found a Rachnii after what they opened unknown relay they released one of the greatest threats to galaxy.
Javik said that the Protheans used the Rachni in war until they turn to them, when rachni quenn mentioned that someone turn rachni to war long ago against species of Council I actualy have no doubts about possibility that was a Salarians and STGs some kind of their wicked research - The science was always the best way for defense...wasn´t ?
After what they released Rachnii on galaxy, they uplift the krogans for only one reason to kill rachnii - than Krogans step on throne of threat instead of Rachni... And again arrogant salarians bring an idea of genetic disease which decrease their numbers. Not mentioned the Yagh - the next plan for uplift ... GG - Salarians - species of worst criminals, not all of them but the actions speak for themself

Krogans - Yes, they were uplifted for one reason to eliminate threat, there is no question they were good in what they were doing but after conflict they could be smart enough to keep their crap in line instead they try to sieze control over Council species.

Asari yes they were keeping their secrets as every council species, they had an access to prothean beacon but the keeping that in secret was important just for such reasons like STG and Cerberus. The Prothean beacon itself is fail in ME3 on Thessia because it realy damaging Asari´s name since ME1 - the asari always presented a wisdom and Asari which had a knowlendge about Reapers so long - would be atleast try to be helpful, instead of denying everything...

As we know - The prothean technology was a highly advanced but not enough but even they fall to Reaper´s strenght, so if you blame the Asari for being selfish than we have serious problems because most of progress in technology which was made is the progress since ME1 - the fall of Sovereign which gain to Council species chance to create crap like a Thanix and others... That supposed most powerful dreadnaught The Destiny Ascension with council fleet had a serious problems to keep together against geth fleet and Sovereign...

So if there was a chance to make a cruel joke for me it would be Salarians because they made most mistakes in past.

"So the Illusive Man was right after all?"

Shepard would never, ever say something like that, much less because some random ghostkid just appeared selling him that option as if it was the way to go.

It felt so out of character and immersion breaking that it is incredible to think that line really made it into the game. Unbelievable.

The yelling of Steve, never understood why that is so bad, especially if he was your LI, I'd yell if my real life boyfriend was possibly about to die. Now the reaction after he's okay is jarring since the emotional tone shifts. Most of the dialogue with the Illusive man on the citadel is pretty dumb but it's not the delivery of the lines it's the poor writing in the last couple of scenes, still on balance the trilogy is pretty amazing for video games.

Each species have some crap ...

Not really comparable. Even if it were, the asari outcrapped everyone else's crap. That being said, the asari as a species cannot be blamed, as only a very small handful of matriarchs even knew about the thing (the protheans behaved idiotically anyway, since they included a contingency that could only be activated by a live prothean).

And Shepard's reaction was surely stupid, but the "joke" was in terrible taste for one thing, and for another, it wasn't even funny. "Haha, the asari just got slaughtered. Bet they wished they had fewer dancers"? Where is the wit in that? What the hell is even the punchline? Of course, I hate Joker, so that could be my bias speaking.

Joke definitely got my WACK seal of disapproval.

^^This. Without a shadow of a doubt. I don't have a lot of genuine problems with the ending (just the Normandy scenes really) but that one sentence took me right out of the game. I was like, "WTF you talkin' 'bout, Shepard?! No way was TIM right!" Whoever it was who said that line it wasn't my Shepard. No sirree. <_<

No one should say this unless she or he is a complete moron.

"This isn't about strategy or tactics!" A war isn't about about strategy or tactics? What the **** on top of a **** sandwich.

Agreed, Shepard in the first 10 minutes > "So the Ilusive Man was right after all?"

The important thing to note with the Illusive Man line is it's still a question.....

EDIT: @ RandomJerkface, it's been a while since I played ME3. After posting that I saw this post, pretty much sums it all up.

Why would saying TIM was right be a bad line? Did you all just not like that the Reapers could be controlled after the whole game was spent opposing that idea?

Because it's written terribly?
In many cases, Shepard just convinced TIM that controlling the Reapers is a bad idea for several reasons. Making Shepard go "So the Illusive man was right after all" five minutes after TIM killed himself because of what Shepard said makes Shepard look like an idiot. It'd be like if you talked Saren into suicide only to turn every living being into a cyborg afterwards to please the Reapers - wait, that can actually happen.
It'd be fine if you had the option to say that if you wanted to. Forcing every Shep to say that borders on character assassination.

Shepard does not say that TIM was right in that the Reapers should be controlled. he said that TIM was right in that the Reapers can be controlled.

"Really?" Especially since YES REALLY SHEPARD SINCE ANDERSON ALREADY TOLD YOU EARLIER IN THE GAME THAT HE WAS BORN. IN. LONDON.

But that ones on everyone's list. "I'm.....sorry." after the mission on Thessia. Sorry about WHAT? It's the asari's fault they didn't get involved sooner AND horded Prothean tech for themselves which could have lessened the impact of the reaper invasions had they shared it with everyone. Especially considering the Protheans are responsible pretty much for making the asari civilized. "Amusing. Asari have finally mastered writing" and "We took pity on you. You could hardly count past your toes." remarks by Javik seem to make asari out to be pretty dumb. It seems the Protheans were wrong to make the asari their ''pet" race. Furthermore, Kai Leng had a gunship with him. That makes it difficult to kill him and get a VI out while having to deal with an entire section of a building collapsing. Oh, and then having to get out of the system before a reaper buzzes and fires a lazer at you. I wouldnt' apologize for **** if I were him. I'd tell the asari councilor straight up its her own damn fault and the blood is on her hands just as much as Shepards'. Actually, much more so.

Ehmmm... You are hopefully aware that this thread is about Shepard not the asari?? Right??

I dunno, that line always seemed stupidly out of place.
