Good on ya, Bioware.

Not a perfect solution but this will at least make it harder for the leechers

Now you have a sure a way to tell if someone's actually leeching because they'll be walking into a wall. Take their name down and report them.

OP says that MP relies heavily on teamwork, well what about those players who deliberately quit in the game? That's more annoying than the those who are AFK. I'd rather wait five minutes for someone who wants to play than have somebody who starts quick but finishes early.

They should have a points penalty system in place to prevent people from quitting early. Deducting ten points off their ranking should stop people from doing this, at least you have a better chance to start and finish with four players. Especialy for those who play with randoms on public.

I'd rather have a system that prompts players (after 2 minutes) if they WANT to kick the AFKer or not.

Even just this would be a majorly better then the current system, as most people atleast wouldn't immidiatly kick some one who have obviously been a major contributor except for the last 2 minutes.

This would be much more appreciated. I was almost carrying a team and just got kicked because I went to take care of a personal biological process. Wave 4, Gold. A prompt would be best, not this auto-kick feature.

You have to do a chore? Oh, you just wasted ten minutes and got nothing for it? Why don't you buy some more points to get those packs you were gonna get anyway? That's totally not manipulative. :bandit:

Yes - if a person is sitting there, you don't know some real emergency or glitch had not happened.

If they are running into a wall / in circles, you can report with a clean conscience.

2 minutes? Absolute fail. The phone could ring, the door could knock, mummy could shout us. 2 minutes is disgraceful.

Sounds good to me.

Sounds like, hey, if you have a real emergency, you accept your loss of credit, as you should, because, well, it was a real emergency. And other people aren't screwed by it.

Or, it sounds like when you play a game, you actually prepare to play it. Like if you might go AFK, you go make a private game, or, shock, don't worry about your loss either. Or, shock, you eat your ice cream before or after a match.

So glad this is in.

Pretty much. Either you're playing or your not. If your friend is leaving its not your fault, your friend's fault, or the people playing. It's just a game mechanic that's been put there for a good reason.

I guess this really goes for anybody else that likes to walk away from an active game. I understand having to get up and do something, but those should be rare cases. The rest of the team shouldn't have to wait for you to grab a cup of coffee, run to tinkle, or have an intimate conversation with a friend that just popped in. I try do that stuff between games (and also not in a lobby).

I'm pretty mixed on this. My daughter wakes up anywhere between 9 and 11 every night and I need to care for her for 5 mins or more to get her back in bed. Mostly I am playing with friends so they understand. But sometimes we need to get a 4th random, switching to Public. In this case I will be kicked. Not so much concerned with the loss of credits/exp (I play for fun). But that puts the team down one person and at a disadvantage for the later, and more difficult, rounds. Would it be too much to ask for the programmers to add a feature where the team gets the option of kicking someone instead of auto after 2 mins?

For example after two minutes a prompt appears on the screen (not so big that it obstructs) that reads " Player X has been inactive for 2 minutes, Press Y to kick player from game" and would go away after a few seconds but would repeat every 2 minutes they are inactive (like a snooze button). It might be easier for me to write than for the programmers to code, but I think it is more of a middle ground and gives us, the players a choice of who gets kicked. With that being said, if a player is stinking up the joint, but really trying to play, the other players should not have the option of kicking them. That would be in bad spirit.

then they should give the ledaer the option to kick after 5 minutes of inactivity

This is not necessarily a bad thing.

This does cause a problem for me but only a limited problem that only occurs when my team doesn't need me as their 4th player and support.
Good teams make me go completely AFK until it is over.

My normal play style method is to

- Hide behind cover and spam Decoy every 1 minute or so(not looking at the screen)

Either that or I don't play at all.

I don't know how deep the rabbit hole goes but standing in a hotzone is a good method to AFK without getting booted, that's if you get can't get booted when dead.

Hey bioware the vanguard is still broken after the latest patch. I did the death charge and later was falling out of the map. I wouldn't care normally but I got kicked for inactivity on wave 10 with the highest xp. It's obvious I was playing. You owe me some creds lol.

And the abusing already started with people running into walls to avoid being considered idle.

If you quit, you lose. FYI, most of those "person has left" messages are disconnects. The message it gives you is very inaccurate, and blames network issues on quitting. Don't believe they left on purpose. And no, they do not get experience or money for quitting early. Wiping is ok, but quitting would earn nothing...which is why people could sit idle and do nothing...death did not matter, nor did wiping. Do you realize that every "disconnect" you have had told the other players you are a quitter?

You dont move or shoot for 2 minutes, you get kicked...simple. Why are so many people complaining?
Next patch Bioware needs to hand out diapers for all the babies in their wonderful multi-player community.

part of the problem is the time. 2 min!  lets see door bell rings and is ups.. or mail and you have to sign for it. you get back and bang you lost xp, cridet, and got kicked.

or better still they system time is f up and you get kicked when you only been a min. and yes that happens.
