One thing about voting...don't know if anyone is familiar with why James Madison (one of the framers of the constitution) helped build a democratic republic, instead of a pure democracy. When asked, he said something to the effect that in a pure democracy, the cattle farmers could vote to make sheep farming a capital offense, and hang sheep farmers. Tyranny by majority is tyranny just the same. Someone had to be there to say no to abuse by bullies, including group bullies. Voting to kick would only work if there are constraints, e.g., the player had no score in the last 3 minutes on a bronze, the last 1.5 minutes on a silver, and the last 45 seconds on a gold...this would stop player abuse. On the other hand, it wouldn't be a bad idea if the current system were updated to allow less idle time on gold than bronze, and increase idle time based on the player scoring. Active scoring might be a sign of participation, and provide some buffer increase for idle time.

Thats  a good idea and yes I kno the voting thing has to be constrained cause anytime some1 is out-scoring the group they may find themselves booted from the match and those sort of things.

First of all: Lobby-vote-kicking, can be considered abuse, but In-game-vote-kicking is totally survivetactics. It´s a Co-Op game, and if you aint playing the game, you should be kicked out.

And FFF. If you can not sit down for the hole 20-30 minutes of a hole 11 wawe run, then you need to play SP insted. WE OTHERS who actually play MP when we do, are not interested in carrying your lazy asses.

You are right about it being co-op, and  you are right about someone needing to play and contribute. But I don't think that a pure democracy would be good at that, in fact it would be terribly abusive to temper tantrums, spiteful behavior, revenge, you name it.

I do believe a vote could be used to both suggest and to constrain kicks. But there is no possible way, no snowball's chance in hell, that a pure vote would ever work. None, period, at all. It would need to be tempered by things like scoring...someone may not fight the way you like, but they could be participating. They may not be as good as someone else, but that might be because of the situation and class they are playing which was random. Lobby kicking could lean more towards votes, as there is no score, but then you have other issues, and I could list quite a few, I won't even bother. There would have to be standards, e.g., you're level 20 and going into a gold with ultra rares or level 10 rares...no kick possible other than taking too long. Or for example, this is a bronze, there will be NO kicking based on level or weaponry, only time...and time would be increased by 30 seconds if returning from a successful match, whereas if you just arrived you do not get that benefit, you would have to have your i's dotted and t's crossed before you sign up. There can be no pure democracy, and if that is what you want, you want to be the bully with the power...ignoring contributions by someone else gives away what in the real world would be prejudice or other bad intent.

Why is the Anti-AFK system applied to private matches when I remember reading that it would be on public matches only?.

That makes no reasonable sense at all. If you are in a private match odds are you are playing with friends, or at the very least people you can communicate with. The very people who can and will probably say "Hey, I need to use the bathroom, please watch my back for a few minutes". Or "Hold up, I have to answer the door". Or "Hold up, I have to answer the phone".

Y'know, those nagging little life things that pop up all the time that take priority over video gaming.

While I applaud the attempt at trying to solve the sponge player problem, you took it too far and tried to cure the cancer by killing the victim.

It means they did a bad job coding it. Report it as a bug. Call on the telephone if need be.

im glad they put something like this but 2mins is way too short in my opinion.

sometimes life drags you away for whatever reason, door, phone call, dog needs to pee, the list goes on. 2mins is way too short to facilitate these kind of interruptions.

personally, I believe there are 2 ways to fix this; extend the allowed inactivity time (5 - 7 mins) we all know a 'fast' round requires at least 12 mins to get though it all.
OR
allow players to vote to kick midgame that way IF someone happens to go afk for life reasons they dont loose their progress/items.

This system doesn't do anything to stop leechers. All they have to do to beat it is stand in the open to make sure they die at the beginning of each wave. Instead, this system only punishes people who are actually participating, up until they have an unexpected interruption that calls them away for a short time (life happens). They can inform their team of this, and fully intend on returning as soon as possible, but the system will kick them out anyway.

I am fairly certain that your intent when you implemented this system was not to ignore the guilty and punish the innocent, Bioware, but that is effectively what you have done. An in-game vote kick system, despite the flaws it may have, would be much more effective than what we have now.

The implementation of this particular system, plus the nonsensical decision to base matchmaking on N7 score, as well as the numerous bugs that seem to be introduced on a weekly basis, make me question Bioware's ability to deliver a quality multiplayer experience. The demo was fun, and I was able to play around the poor controls and bugs before, but it has only gotten worse. This game is not fun anymore, it is a chore.

Maybe later, if it seems that intelligent decisions are beginning to be made with the direction and maintenance of this game, I will come back, but the continued mishandling of this game as a whole has finally driven me away.

Now what needs to be looked at it preventing people from joining your match seconds before the evac gets there round 11, they get full exp and your party doesn't get "Full Evac" cause the newcomer spawned elsewhere. -_-'

I love the new AFK. It helped a team of 3 drop a leech that started round 1 and we finally get a actual real player. It was on firebase white and took until round 8, which i guess he could find himself getting killed within 2 minutes most times. But we finally protected him so he'd fall off! hahah!

This is just my 3 cents...and i HAVE NOT READ THE ENTIRE THREAD...so if this has already been stated i'm sorry.

Ti think they should do a combination of the vote kicking and the time thing...like, you can sit still for as long as you want and won't be auto kicked...but if all the other players vote to kick you, AND you go afk for 2 minutes, THEN you get booted.

that way you can be like "guys, i'll be right back" and go to the bathroom or what have you and won;t get auto kicked, as long as they don't vote you out right away.

But if you're actively playing, and you get voted out you also WON'T get booted, cuz you're active.

It's not their spelling for the most part, it's just that it made little to no sense.

This is really annoying for me. I have dogs, so if they need to go out, I take them out. For example, I just played a gold match to wave 10, completed the goal, and then had to take the dogs out. I lost the ~70k credits I should have earned because I didn't come back fast enough?

I'm not saying remove it. Just lengthen the limit a little. Like, 5 minutes or so?

I agree that in-game kicking should be a player vote and not necessarily an automatic thing; auto-kick is too easily circumvented.

I just got kicked from a game I was hosting. After wave 10 I posted up in my usual spot to guard my teams flank then wave 11 starts. My team is killing everything and i have nothing to kill so I just sit there and I looked around with the camera but there's nothing to kill or even aim at so I sit there, usually an enemy run into my line of sight and I take them out before they get to the team but not this time and I get kicked mere seconds before end of wave... I believe the time should be extended, at least a minute or 2 to about 3-5mins

Extended time would be a quick fix. 5 minutes is long enough for someone to either get back at it or get the boot.

The leechers are already back to their dodgy **** whilst the legitimate players with sudden issues are kicked because they don't have a rubber band to hand.

Lovely. ****ing lovely.

I'm glad we have this new featue since leechers are common. On the other hand, 2 minutes are a short time for a bathroom break. I also believe the host of the game should be able to kick anyone from the match they're hosting, lobby or mid-game... but that is just my opinion.

I think mid-game voting is the way to go. I'd have a few games since the patch where a random will run immediately to the enemy spawn so he can die and not have to worry about timing out. And I've also seen people with their controllers rigged to walk in circles until they die.
