I think mid-game voting is the way to go. I'd have a few games since the patch where a random will run immediately to the enemy spawn so he can die and not have to worry about timing out. And I've also seen people with their controllers rigged to walk in circles until they die.

Like I said in many prior posts, a timer by itself probably isn't good enough. But this is a computer, and all kinds of information is available, e.g., damage done, maybe how long you've been walking into that wall. The current system is not very smart, but freeloaders definitely need to kicked out without a credit or a single experience point never to see the light of day.

You don't even need to rubberband to freeload. I tested it out with a few friends when the patch first went up, and if you just leave your character out of cover in a large, open area, you'll probably die, and the kick feature didn't activate. Pretty sure that 2 minute timer resets when you die.

I'd be on board with a vote-to-kick feature, but I know it would be used improperly. I've had a group of 3 in an active game saying they'll boot the fourth as soon as the game is over. If it were possible mid-game, then that player would be screwed out of XP and credits that they did help earn. I suspect most of us have had that weird post-game boot, even if you were the one getting the objectives and did the most damage. Imagine that, but without even getting XP/credits. If you set it so that they earn what's already there, then you'd have players getting kicked specifically for the XP boost and rejoining, offering another way to cheat the system.

I'm also guessing it'd be a pain to program it in to the existing game. I'm not a programmer or anything, but I know how impossible it can be to figure out what goes where in poorly commented code, and even if the code is really well commented, I'm betting it'd be a substantial undertaking, and it might not be worth the realistic benefits.

I am a programmer. The logic varies but it is so simple to improve it a lot. The effort is minimal and the benefit quite substantial compared to what is now done. I see a lot of non-programmers thinking easy things are difficult, and difficult things easy. It's one of the reasons business types listen to hype about tools instead of fundamentally correct programming, or have unrealistic or unimaginative goals. You paid money for the product, why not ask for quality?

Wow, just got kicked out of a game because I was first loading for a long time then 'waiting for other players'. What the hell?

2 minutes seems a little overzealous.

I've had games before (and no doubt will again) where one of my children have woken up and I've needed to dash upstairs with milk/dummy/nappy etc before the entire street is woken up. I'm generally back in the action by the next wave, and always tell my squadmates what's happening. Never had a problem, and the community as a whole seems mature and sympathetic to situations like this. But now I could potentially lose a 40-minute games worth of experience and credits because I have the misfortune of not being able to dedicate myself 100% to the game for extended periods of time.

I totally agree real AFKers (the ones who don't participate at all for the duration of the game) need to be dealt with, but can't help but think this change will impact more 'honest' AFKers like me than the 'pro' AFKers who will probably just use a band or something to fool the system.

Increase the time before kick slightly, or give us a game mode where we can complete half the waves in half the time, for half the reward.

Happens to me about 1 out 5 games if I host...incidentally, I didn't ask to host, I was trying to join, and it made me host. If I stick it out, I am the only one there. And I don't have a router or other issues which might be claimed, I'm directly on the internet, and know my firewalls well. Something else strange goes on.

Thank you, Bioware, for implementing this at 2 minutes. People who need to discuss politics with missionaries at the door, walk the dog, poop, shower, feed their fish, etc inconvience the team regardless of the reason behind the inactivity. If you need to be away from a game for more than 10% of the total time of a match (most take between 20-30 minutes depending on difficulty), you ARE inconviencing the team and should be booted. While that's clearly not as bad as someone who spends 100% of the time doing nothing, don't kid yourself that you somehow deserve to earn full xp/credits. Life happens.. I understand and have had the same thing happen to me... but I simply exit a match if I know I'm going to be away for more than a minute. That's the polite thing to do instead of coming here to whine about getting booted from the game because you needed to go take a dump and took too long wiping.

LOL as well as very true. Leaving the match if you can't participate for whatever reason is the polite thing to do, not many people do so, however. I still think mid-game kick option should be added, especially if it's not as coding-wise impossible as we non-programmers believe. :o

The kicksystem just kicked me for no apparant reason(at least not for being afk)

I was playing Giant/Cerberus/Silver as my Asari Vanguard.Everything went fine, on Wave 6 we get the Hacking objective in the open Area between the LZ and the Building. I want to Charge, die and my dead body charges to the enemy(wasn't that supposed to be fixed btw?). After getting revived im starting to fly. At the middle of wave 7 it's I start flying 100 meters above the map(the view's really nice btw).

I try to help my team by doing heavy aoe melees(works when someone is "around" you, once killed a few Pyros while floating on Condor). I didn't want to leave because I would have lost my Credits and XP. Then after I some time I get the loading screen and the message "You were kicked out of the game".
WTF, ok I was only pressing F(melee button) but srsly I couldn't move and using Stasis would have been pointless(can't hit an enemy up there),Charge doesn't work while flying and I didn't have any Lift Grenades left.

This is yet another case of apparent network issue messing up your location. Happened to me many times, and I've seen it happen to others many times. Doesn't happen on single player. Corrupted coordinates on multiplayer. Try firing biotics or anything...don't know if that will help, but I agree, this glitch is too hard to avoid and it isn't your fault and you are trying, it should not boot. It's a bit like convicting an innocent man. Maybe one day BW will work on their UDP network failures. You should call and turn in a bug report. Don't believe any idiot that tells you that they can't take bug reports and that you have to post on forums...get a supervisor or someone in charge or wait and call them again and hope you get someone qualified to do the help job.

The mass effect 3 multiplayer is the worst abomination i have ever seen and now i actually need to play it for my single player game to be 100% complete or wel 80% complete because the 20% wich is the ending is still missing... my game just stopped after shepard broke indoctrination for some reason.

So i've been waiting for the extended cut basicly to do the one perfect play, but my multiplayer reset to 50% so now i wasted a day (about 12 hours) playing that terrible excuse for a multiplayer, i pissed of alot of people by refusing to play and just pressing my power once every 2 min but than again i got pissed of by my uncompleted game and me being forced into this multiplayer for my perfect play.

TL;DR version: Stop making the readiness reduce... 100% at all stages = 100% all the time... so people who actually like the singleplayer (i'm not even gonna talk about how it misses an ending and just has a stop atm) can play singleplayer without annoying the call of duty gone mass effect kids who seem to massively play and shout at you for being afk.

Just because you think the war assets system is less than ideal, doesn't mean you're entitled to hinder the gaming experience of other players. Your behaviour could be considered griefing or leeching, tier three offences that are punishable.

Just wanted to drop in that last night I was kicked out of two matches playing with my Krogan Sentinel, built for, geared for, and employing heavy melee almost exclusively.  He was doing very well on kill count, happily sending baddies flying, when suddenly, poof, kicked.  I hope somebody scans these things for possible bugs/issues, 'cuz the auto-kick feature definitely need some attention.  Must also say that ME3 multiplayer has held my fascination longer than any video game I have played (n7 is at 930 or so)  --and I payed something like $120 for a Pong console with two knobs.  Great job BW.

So I just noticed that only using your powers gets you kicked, what's up with that? I don't really need to shoot as a biotic class.
Happened twice in a row already.
