Why didn't Bioware give us an epic crew like in ME2?

That doesn't mean I don't like some of the others but they're ultimately peripheral for me. Even Vega surprised me by being a much better character than I expected (get him to hack the AA guns on the Rescue Koris mission, it's hilarious).

That gives me an idea. It would've been awesome if Wrex would have joined you at some point during Priority:Earth.Reorte wrote...
For me Shepard's team was Garrus, Tali, Liara, and Wrex. We started with them, we should've finished with them (Wrex's abscence was understandable, Tali's late introduction in both 2 and 3 unforgiveable). Mordin was the only character from 2 who I feel the same way about. That group are my Shepard's closest friends and comrades.

There were those whose non-party cameos were well handaled, like Wrex, Legion, and Thane. Then there is those whose were botched like Grunt, Katsumi, and Zaeed.
Grunt was done well. Agree about Kasumi and Zaeed though.

In truth, it was just taking the lazy way out - while the crew interacts with each other aboard the ship, they interact with you a lot less than in ME1 or ME2. And unless you bring Javik along, the crew banter on missions is mostly swappable with little to no difference. Finally, with the exception of a couple of squadmates, no crewmate has any significant character development.

I second that.spiros9110 wrote...
I'd rather they mix up the squad, but oh well.
Their fault for writing such great characters in ME2, it's a win/lose situation.
Whatever the crew would of been, people would of ****ed either way.
I agree with the OP to an extent tho: I didn't play ME-1, so ME-2 meant alot more to me than it does to the typical BSN user. So to have Garrus and Tali permanent crew (even though they can die in ME-2) and have other ME-2 members be side pieces irritates me.
But the bottom line is EA's stringest deadlines. I don't think they were "lazy" per se, I think they had not enough time to do the things necessary to make this the epic game it should have been.

They said they did it for deeper interactions.

Gotta agree with you there.

Then they opted for auto-dialogue which completely undoes their original idea.

The Asari goddess Samara.
The smart sexy Japanese spy girl Kasumi.
The stunningly brilliant Australian Miranda.
The strong youth of primal rage Grunt.
The Old man of steel Zaeed.

They removed these epic characters for the crazy nut case Ash and some Mexican guy. What kind of a trade off is that? I mean why in the world would I hit on chubby face Liara when I had a super hot milf like Samara on my team. God this new cast sucks. I feel sorry for Shep
I liked Ash, though i agree generally cre in 3 was not as good as 2 or 1.
