Nope, luckily the ME team wasn't dumb enough to do it.

You realize how weird it would be for everyone in the game to be bisexual?

Not all that weird at all, I hardly noticed it in DA2, mind you that might be because I was too busy fuming about the recycled material.

I think making everyone bisexual would cut down a bit on the variety and the uniqueness of the characters. Besides why does everyone have to be bi, it's fine if someone is but us heterosexuals exist too you know, we're not mythical creatures :-P.

No.

Even though its a game, there is still a plot and characters that have to be believable. To meet that there has be a level realism, and making a cast of characters who have a variety of sexual orientations is reasonable. Having everyone be bi is not.

Also its bad enough that I have to tip toe around the females on my crew who are not me LI. I don't need to worry about the other sex too.

It'd be incredibly weird.

First off, sexuality doesn't work that way. It's got nothing to do with what is socially acceptable. People in the future won't all be bisexual just because it's culturally acceptable. They may be more accepting about it, but the majority of people are still going to be heterosexual. The game loses a huge mark of realism by suddenly having everyone want to dry-hump anything with two legs.

Second problem with doing this is that it reduces the meaning of the most basic character choice, that of gender, to nothing more than a cosmetic difference. FemShep and BroShep have different interactions with characters based on their gender, just like people in real life do. If everything that moves is fair game for a romance, you'll see less differences in character interactions. People are already annoyed that their choices amount to little more than a numerical score, and you want to reduce such a key decision even further?

GTFO. Seriously. You would make the player's decisions matter even less than they already do. You clearly don't understand what the game was supposed to be about.

You see video games aren't real if you can suspend your disbelief for space magic synthesis you can do it for your party having a higher than average proportion of bi members. If we are really going to go with realism the alien romances shouldn't be possible at all, you wouldn't find a completly inconpatible species attractive like that. Having said that unless you are actually going to seek out a relationship with every member of the party you are not even going to know that they are all bi so it would hardly be wierd. So I agree with you in real life just not in fiction especially not in a fiction which is supposed to be responsive to the player.

I'm glad to see the majority are voting 'no.'

Just like in real life, characters in Mass Effect should have a defined sexuality. Some are heterosexual, some are bi, and some are gay. No one should be Shepardsexual.

No! There should be definitive straight characters, gay/lesbian characters, and yes, some bisexual characters. I greatly dislike when characters exist solely for the benefit of the protagonist (sort of off topic, but this is why I like that characters will interact with each other on the Normandy in ME3).

I like the fact you can't romance everyone with both genders. It adds replay value since you have to at least run both a male and a female shepard through the games. (more then that to get all the romances, but yeah).

I'm super glad there are gay male options now though! ^_^

Yep.

Why deprive the player of more options?

Why include personalities for the characters at all? Let's just make up our own personalities for them!

Agreed. But I think that a little more "openness" from the start, as opposed to throwing in the "token" characters and expanding Kaidan's horizons, would have been a good thing. But really, ME1 you had 1 "lesbian" option (quotes because asari really shouldn't count), 2 you had Kelly strip for you (again, a lesbian option, nothing for the gay men out there), and 3 had Kaiden broaden his mind, or the new characters (Traynor, Cortez, Allers?) thrown in pretty much only for that purpose.

Really, I find this more of a problem with previous Mass Effect games. I do know that there seemed to be something between Tali and my FemShep during ME2, but that might have been how the dialogue was going. I wouldn't want every LI to be bisexual and not caring, as that would be weird... however, I do want a little more variety (more like DA:O than DA2, if we have to compare).

No. I think sexuality is one of the defining traits of the character. Sure, some of them could be bi (but no retcon please, like Anders/Kaidan) and I like how Cortez and Trainor are gay only, that was a really cool touch. Some characters could be straight, some bi, some gay. I think that adds believability and depth to them, not even mentioning replayability to the player.

And Dragon Age 2 "all bi" approach was kinda failure, IMO.

Not everyone is bi. Some people are straight, some people are gay, and some are bi. That's the way it is

No. I don't think you can take characters seriously when they all are romancable regardless of the Shepard's gender. It's not about "everyone being bi"; its more about how the characters are less "defined" and not as cemented themselves; the character's preferences should be decided by the writer, not by the player interacting with them, IMO.

Now, if you could ATTEMPT a romance on every character (some succeeding, some failing), that would be more realistic and interesting. Samara comes to mind, although she spurns you for other reasons...

inb4 uber religious **** storm.

Personally, I have nothing against specifically oriented people, but if EVERYONE was bisexual, it would kind of cheapen the whole thing for me. I could understand the asari an a few others for people who want that option, but everyone? They made it more realistic by denying you complete control because not everything in life goes your way.

If we get to play an Asari in ME4, maybe one of those N7 ops people recruited by the alliance Then I can see it hapening..

The alliance might start taking in more non-humans for it's military in the future I guess, and more aliens might be interested in applying...
