Since Shepard either has no parents or they are not in game, do Anderson and Chakwas make you feel like Shepard has a mother and father in them?
Does Anderson and Chakwas work for you as parent figures?

For my Earthborn, Anderson is definitely a father figure. Chakwas though... well, I don't get wasted with my mom. At least not intentionally.
For my main FemShep, who's a Colonist, she just clings to the memory of her parents.

I don't see Chakwas as a mother figure...maybe something like an aunt!
But Anderson, yes I do see him as a father figure for Shepard with a colonist/earthborn,
and a mentor for Spacer. It also matters who your Shepard is too.

My Sheps are typically Spacers. Anderson is regarded as a mentor and Chakwas as an aunt.

My Shep is Earthborn, so Anderson is definitely her father figure. I never really considered anyone to be her mother figure, but I guess Chakwas would work.
My main BroShep is a colonist, so I always pictured Anderson as his adopted father.

Shep spends a lot more time helping and giving support to Chakwas than Chakwas does to Shep.
Anderson's not a parental figure or even a mentor to main!Shep - he's a superior officer, and a good one, and that's its own category. My Earthborn Shep looks up to him as an older brother, though, which is the only context she has for a parent figure, since that's how the guy who looked out for her in the Reds referred to their relationship.

My Spacer Shepard sees Anderson as a replacement father figure (have a whole headcanon why his father isn't there) and Chakwas is somewhere between mother and aunt. My Shepard's mother and Chakwas were old war buddies back in first contact.

It's pretty much that for all my Sheps, though I do think that Anderson wishes he could be more fatherly to Shep - my evidence being the ''You did good child, you did good.'' line. It's like at that moment he feels that he can drop being Shep's superior officer.
Chawas...really dosen't work for me as a mother figure. She's a friend and a loyal colleague - If anything she's more of a mother figure to Joker than Shep.
Just my opinion, though.

My Shep thought of Anderson as a father figure but as for mother figure, didn't really think she had one until ME2 and she met Samara. She felt for whatever reason they were like two old souls who were probably mother and daughter in another life.

Anderson is very much a father figure to Shepard in my eyes, but Chakwas is more like the fun aunt. I had a fun aunt, she was the best.
Samara was sort of like a mother figure, but I'd call her more like a grandmother figure.

PV Shepard is a spacer so he has his parents still alive.
EW Shepard had great parents that can't be replaced.
So no ... but I could see where some players might have Shepard that need parent figures.

My Shepard sees them as his parent figures since he doesn't remember his parents. I think they work well as parent figures!

Anderson is definitely like father, especially for earthborn. But I'm not sure about Chakwas

No, not really.
Anderson works perfectly as Shepard's dad, but Dr. Chakwas is more an aunt than a mother. Also Hackett sometimes feels like a relative to Shepard too. In my headcanon, he's indeed an uncle of Shepard - who simply has to keep the protocol.
It also explains why Hackett is one of very few supporters of Shepard in all three parts.

Well, Hackett don't look like someone from Shepard's family. He is just military who knows what to do in critical situations, that's why he supported Shepard.

No. I shouldn't have dirty thoughts about my mother.

Nope, I'm a Spacer, I got a mom. Anderson is my Morpheus, Chakwas is my Oprah

Might work for an earthborn Shep but I always imagined my spacer and colonist Shepards had good relationships with their parents so wouldn't need a new mother/father figure. Anderson is a mentor and Chakwas is a friend.

Anderson and Garrus are bromosexuals.
Myrrah is just there. I mean she says stuff, but i never really pay attention. I wouldn't notice if she wasn't there. I prefer Doc míchels accent.

My Shep is a Spacer. I see Chakwas as a good aunt figure, Anderson as a mentor, Hackett as a father figure, and Hannah as, well, his mom.

No. Every background, I like to think that Shepard more or less knew his parents.
Spacer - Mom obviously still with Alliance. Dad was KIA some years ago.
Earthborn - Grew up no parents, but eventually found out who they were. Didn't care.
Colonist - Well, they got Batarian'd.

Could see Anderson as father figure, I guess, but people saying mentor ring more true for me, personally.
Chakwas as mother, definitely not. The drinking scenes make me think otherwise. I want to make a note that I love the drinking scenes in ME2 and ME3. I think they are quite intimate and telling about the relationship between Chakwas and Shepard as old, loyal friends. Sometimes I think they're even better than some of the LI scenes. There's something about those drinking scenes that seems really authentic. Take away the sci-fi stuff and I could imagine it all happening in real life.
