This is not dangerous in any sense in fact anyone having problems with it at present is likely using Windows 7 which enables this by default. Which in and of itself is fine, however DAO will actually try to use ECN but if your router and NIC don't actively support it you will run into this problem. ECN Capability has no corrolation to any form of network security protocol, it is merely there to help expedite packet recovery due to server congestion. Microsoft has this to say of it's functionality:
"Explicit Congestion Notification (ECN) is a mechanism that
provides routers with an alternate method of communicating network
congestion. This notification effectively reduces TCP retransmissions
and increases throughput."
I just figured this could use clarification so people were more at ease, I know that I would be somewhat apprehensive to throw security out the window to play a game.
I'm on Windows 7 64 bit, it is disabled by default and I am still having this problem, clearly this is some server congestion issue...
