First there are lots of different weapons and they are customizable, you can even change their skins. Most of them are unlocked at the start and progressing through game unlocks new ones.
Lots of crafting recipes for upgrading our gear. Our main materials are animal skins and plants there is also random junk loot everywhere just for selling.

edit: We unlock most of the weapons via radio towers. This radio tower thingy is a bit like ACs viewpoints reveals a part of map, shows you nearby places and also cheapens(word?) old weapons while unlcoking new ones.

Encounters are better than FC1, stealth is vastly improved with good backstabbing, body hiding mechanics and air assassinations. Good variety of melee moves ,we can stab somoeone with our machete and then use his for killing other nearby enemies or we can do the good'ol grenade trick.
Shooting feels smooth and satisfying with lots of guns in our arsenal.

Enemy camps still exists vut they wont spawn anymore after we capture it for our friends. There is good money and XP rewards for capturing enemy camps without getting detected and raising alarms. In some camps there are animal cages we can shoot and let the chaos begin.

Game is huge with lots of things to do. Sniper challenges, poker, racing, side missions, animal&head hunting missions, races, supply drops, lots of collectables with rewards and Trial of Rakyats.

That sounds fantastic. Thanks for the info. Are glitches kept at a minimum for the most part?

Eh i dont really seen any major gltiches (patched PC version 1,01) Game seldom pauses at Trial of Rakyats after 1 min but really seldom. Some minor graphical glitchers with blood and distant fires and there is microstuttering problem people are b!tching about (i dont have this or my mind dont mind it :P)

But i have to be honest, im really lucky about bugs in games especially in PC. Even the buggiest games are working OK for me most of the time.

Map editor is a bit limited and buggy they say never tried it meself. And there are major MP concerns like no dedicated servers.

Best part is Ubisoft really dropped that DRM thing, I mean we still need to install uplay/steam but we can play the game offline after activation and we can install it on multiple PCs. A very huge step in the right direction.

Especially considering how shi!tty Uplay is. Couldnt even redeem that fancy wallpaper...

So does Uplay have to be running alongside Steam when you play?

Don't really know that. I activated/played it only on Uplay.

Edit: Just did a quick research on Ubi forums, it seems you need to run both programs for playing it if you buy on steam :pinched: Well still they can be offline but ...

Edit 2: Oh wow Ubisoft forums are really a depressing place. Q_Q all over ther board. I wonder if i play the same game?? Lots of the complaints seem about Uplay and MP tough and there is "  Game is not running super smooth on my ancient rig or non-gaming friendly laptop" as usual.

To be fair, the minimum and recommended specs are pretty low for this game. If they are accurate you shouldn't necessarily need a gaming oriented laptop:

Far Cry 3 Minimum Specs
- Any DirectX9c graphics card with 512MB Video RAM
- Any Dual core CPU
- 4GB Memory

Far Cry 3 Recommended Specs
- Any DirectX11 graphics card with 1024MB Video RAM
- Any Quad core CPU
- 4GB Memory

I suppose I'll find out how well it runs on my laptop Dec 4.

Does it have some crazy DRM that needs to be online or something? Need more details, are the enemy encounters fun to fight through or is it repetitive and tedious like in FC 2.

Was "Skyrim with guns" the best thing to say?

Well, "Red Dead Redemption on an island with levelling up" is more likely. And swap horses with cars, jeeps, quad bikes and deltas.

I'm about ~30 hours in and it definitely exceeds any expectations I had. My only problems is that it's a bit too easy on the highest setting, the UI is barely tolerable and they don't reward non-combat skills enough. Other then that, it's possibly the best FPS game since frickin' Half-Life 2.

Kind of wish I had payed more than $35 for it.

It actually feel a bit similar, but unlike Skyrim it has well-above average writing, intriguing characters and just feels less clunky. Skyrim sacrificed pretty much every other aspect of the game just to make the world feel open and Far Cry 3 strikes a great balance in that regard.

Is Uplay necessary to play it, even if it is downloaded from steam?

Well just lured 2 tigers in a pirate camp and these 2 babies ate all the pirates in the camp :)
Pushed one lonely pirate to the arms of his lover( a little crocy :))
Placed some mines near a camp, let the guys trigger the alarm and watch the fireworks after.
Planted some C4 in a car which pirates used for following me. They are now space pirates.

Im really having fun with this game :)

That sounds incredible, way better then Rimjob with guns. And what do you mean, Leveling Up? RPG Elements? I had no idea.

There is a tatau (tatoo) on your left arm. As you gain levels you can choose from 3 different "talent trees"
The Shark focusing on melee takedowns and survival
The Heron focusing on ranged takedown and mobilty
The Spider focusing on stealth and somewhat economy.

Each tatau we choose also upgrades our tatu physically, each tree have different style tataus.
our arm becoming pretty awesome as we get stronger :)

I expected the deadly force of animals in the world to have dynamic effects on gameplay. That's sounds friggin awesome. I love games that give you a canvass and then just let you play. Seems like the extra polish time paid off.
