Tigers, komodo dragons and bears are more than a deadly force :) Tigers especially make a quick work of low level soldiers and bears are the bane of heavies.

BTW just killed a manta ray for an entry and i feel sorry about it :(
It has no skin on it :P

So guys... did I ever tell you the definition of insanity?

Love the game. Just finished it thanks to my vacation days and I have to say that I'm pretty sure that the doc dropped some of his pills in the local water reservoir. Can't explain the high population of maniacs on the island otherwise.

By the way: Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity?

So I wanted to ask, is Vaz a good antagonist in the game? Or is he just a "fun" villain?

Vaas is awesome. Vaas is basically Heath Ledger as the Joker in the Caribbean.

He has his fun moments but in those moments you're not sure if it is meant to be funny or if it's just the madness speaking out of him. He's not the crazy awesome type of insane but rather terrifyingly insane. Mood swings, insane rantings, sudden violent outbursts, the guy has it all.
Even in his rather calm moments, thanks to the awesome graphic, you can still actually SEE the madness bubbling behind his eyes, always reminding you that the guy is definitely not right in the head.

In short: The guys insanity feels alarmingly real and makes him my top antagonist of the year.

The definition of insanity? Uplay! I could write a few pages about why it's bad, but I... will stop now :)

Looking forward to playing the game. Seems like it's just the kind of thing I'd enjoy.

EDIT: Played it. The game is great so far!

Thank god we can play it always offline, Uplay is not working properly since i bought the game... Couldn't even redeemed any of my rewards...

Edit:
BTW I loathe dupstep kind of music but there is a mission where you burn weed fileds with flamethrower. One of Skrillex's songs played whole along the mission which added lots of more fun :) Also Jason is funny while using the flamethrower.

Skrillex ft. Damian Marley - Make It Bun Dem

It may be dubszep but it's reggae dubstep. Fits the mission and makes it a lot more awesome, combined with Jason's ... rather unhinged screams of joy :D

I got mauled by my first tiger after unloading an entire AK-47 clip into its face. Not really sure it's realistic, but at least at makes you respect the wildlife a bit :)

Anyway the hunting part of the game is really fun and reminds me of Read Dead Redemption. Just feels like I should be using a bow instead of grenades and guns.

Hehe tigers are nothing on them bears, especially when you meet them in a dark cave :) I recommend shotguns and bow for hunting. Use Hunters Instinct for best bow usege and always have some animal rependent for tiger/leopar ambushes. Masters of stealth i say.

One thing I want to know is how is visability in the game out in the jungle? Is it hard to know whats around you, like say in some corner shooters? Or is it more like being in the woods of Skyrim? If things are popping up on you constantly that will be a gripe for me. If its more of mid range or based on if you just run like a madman and miss things, then thats not a big deal at all. Just say'n I'l like some advanced notice in when something is trying to kill me.

You always know when human enemies are targeting you, but sometimes the animals can creep up on you. Yes, they can be hard to spot.

But so far I haven't had any frustrating situations where I didn't have a chance to know what was coming for me. When I was mauled by a tiger, I actually saw it first. When I was ambushed by a gang of komodos, it was because I was hunting them and got distracted by something else.

Okay that type of stuff is okay.

I was more aiming at, there is so much foilage and "mist" that you might as well be playing say, Aliens.

Well there is a lot of foliage but mostly I can see what is going on. I couldn't see the komodos properly all the time, but I was in the part of the map marked with a big fat komodo sign so I would say I had it coming.

So to the levels of real life or a hunting game? I can run with that. I'm speaking more of is it built up like corridor shooters where encounters are pretty much face to face.

The game is as open world as it can get.

The only level boundaries I've found are in the story mission when you strave to far from the paths the game offers you. Nothing hinders you to walk into those directions but the game tells you it will abort the mission when you do so.

I started playing this on release date and it has me hooked. Absolutely loving it, the open world, the new shop system, the exploration, the beautiful visuals, the crafting and all the side missions too.
I've only just passed the Rescue Liza mission and I'm taking my time with it while I do some of the optional stuff like base capture, radio towers etc. And I do agree, Vaas is a very interesting character and a great antagonist. I'm glad they didn't just do a generic villain. The Tatoo skills is a great concept too.
I pre-ordered the Wish You Were Here Edition which got me all the digital goodies like the Predator Pack with that awesome Sniper Rifle.

The recurve bow sure is powerful once you get the archery skills. Along with a silenced MS16 it's my weapon of choice.

Anyway I have to say I'm really liking the health system. It doesn't just regenerate to full, and yet you're not forced to run back to town and resupply when you get low. The animations are also fun. Love it when he digs a bullet out of his arm or snaps his thumb back into place.

Good part of the recurve bow is, its becoming more than one weapon with special arrows.
It is a silent, deadly rifle, a more accurate molotov and somewhat a RPG. Last one certainly gives some John Rambo feeling :D We can also retake any normal arrows back from the dead.

I LOVE anything related to fire in this game. The pyromaniac in me is always full of glee when I ignite a whole piece of the jungle and the fire spreads with the wind.
Or burning down a house with enemies in it and shooting everybody that tries to flee.

<3 my flamethrower!

Just wondering, on the second island can you use a jet ski to get back? Also can you carry on after you finish and last question, does the game end after you kill Hoyt? It's obvious you will kill him sooner or later.

1) You should be able to simply fast travel. Don't know if you can just drive to the northern island.

2) Yes you can.

3) Not immediately.
