 Guys and Gals,

What would everyone think of a remake of KOTR with the Unreal 3 engine. Given the feeling of the game it might even have some of the best parts (note I say best parts) or the ME games. Story, Dark side/light side points, Better combat, romance (of course it has to be kiddy friendly <smile>), and best of all LIGHT SABERS.

Kickstarter.com would be a perfect place to raise a few million $$$ to show there was an interest. Not sure how all the leagal mumbo jumbo would work, but I belive enough cash over comes anything. So would sevral hundred thousand per-production sales of the game. Look at Wastland 2 (the grand dady of Fallout) they wanted 900,000$ and got 3 million to make that remake. I bought 4 copys @ $15 a peice.

I've yet to play it, but I fail to see the obsession people have with Star Wars. Besides, there are way better things being done on Kickstarter than remakes of games already on the market.

I'd love a graphically enhanced KOTOR but it is still available in some places for a reasonable price.

I doubt that would happen and I'd rather have Lucas Arts let Obsidian patch in the missing content like they had originally wanted to.

KOTOR, while good and still replayable, has fallen with the times. It's a game of an older era, it must remain the way. Anyone who wants to replay it can simply download it off the thousands of websites it's available on, it doesn't need a remake.

I love the game. I've replayed it 4-5 times. Just a thought. Maybe in 20 years.I still want to know what people think.

On the subjects of remakes. Having a remake in existence does not detract from the integrity or existence of the original. Old school gamer will keep buying the old versions and loving the.

Yup, I'd love it, update the gameplay, UI, graphics, allow for it's use on 64 bit systems etc.

Also, saying "No." on a thread asking for input doesn't make you look sly or coy at all. You're using an overused response thus making you an ass.

I'ld think Lucas Arts would make anyone that made it, or rather tried too and everyone who funded it sorry with a lawsuit.

Like I said have to pay them a lot of money for the rights. Would be nice if Bioware did with Lucas Blessing, but Obsidian has had some success too. Quite a lot of the first bit of money would be to hire negotiators to work out the "legal mumbo jumbo".

I wanted to see what people thought about the idea. It just a pipe dream.

Then again what good idea started as anything but a pipe dream.

Well the problem is I doubt Lucas Arts would had the property over.

For example look at Tie Fighter a far more popular title from way back in the day, people have been screaming for almost two decades now for a part 2 of it, or a remake, or an update. Lucas arts basically "lol's" and walks away. If a title is under lock and key they keep it under lock and key. And also as far as Lucas Arts is concerned Revan was just canon fodder for TOR, in every game that has a Jedi not named "Luke, Anakin, Vader, ObiWan, or Kyle" they always add an in lore not "not as powerful or far reaching as in game". And be very warry of any fan service towards it.

The Iconic 501st was almost shut down and sued by Lucas himself untill someone basically wnet "look free advertising" and he rolled with it. Lucas when it comes to his properties can be pretty vendective.

So really why hand it over, I can name no less than five games better than KOTOR people want to see remakes or sequals to, made by LA. Problem is while they might can make money off of it, they arn't in a need of money.

Star Wars as a brand is worth lots'ocash. Books, Toys, TV, Movies, Merchant goods. Games are just one more division, in fact TOR's failure didn't hurt them at all. So When your greedy treat your property as yours alone, and are swiming in money, who cares what some RPG fans want? More so when its a Character you don't like and feel detracts from how powerful Luke and Anakin are.

Yup. IP holders are a funny breed sometimes. Maybe if I ever own some I'll understand better, but it is pretty confusing in the mean time.

Bunch of people were rumored to have raised 30$ million to make session 5 of Enterprise. Not sure which IP holder or responsible party turned those nose up on that.

Maybe we fans need to come up with some totally new IP :-D

No it couldn't work without LucasArts. They own KotOR. So if someone tried to make it without them, they would be shut down.

Honestly, I think KotOR is better than most games that come out now, but a remake is not a priority at this point.

Yes, I'm sure EA and Lucas Arts would appreciate little help. Nothing like giving international mega corporation even more consumer money.

I want KOTOR 3 more than anything. Why does Lucas Arts keep churning out **** that no one wants?

To create a Kickstarter project you must make some legal claims that you have acquired all the rights needed to produce the project etc., so it doesn't really work as the sort of petition I think you are proposing.

ahhh.... I see the difficulty naughty99... its a chicken or the egg thing. In order to raise money you have to own the IP; so you can't raise money though Kickstarter.com to either buy the IP or encourage the IP holder to produce the IP that is sitting around gathering dust.

Oh Well kickstarter is not the mechanism. I'll have to come up with the next great thing that captures the collective imagination of imagination and the world. In other words be original.

Why does Lucas & co Ruin alien races in the Clone Wars Cartoon, insists Jar Jar is a great character, refuses to release the shot footage of boba escaping the sarlac, and almost shut the 501st down as he was made people liked the Imperials more than the Rebles?

In general with most mega corps the mindset thats around is

"People will moan but still buy our crap"

 Saddly that is also true.

I wish people would have some proof when they claim Kickstarter is a scam.
