I had a chat with someone on there once in regards to not receiving a Commendation Pack, and the guy who helped me was very nice and patient. Sounds like you had a bad seed in this case.

Every time I've had an issue and try to do the chat thing...it just doesn't work. Sometimes I get an error message, sometimes it just won't load the page. Most issues work out though. lol

Masood, hm? I'm not racist or anything, but red flags definitely go up for me when a company is too cheap to hire local support reps.

Few thigns outsourced to India rarely benefit the customer. The costs the company cuts don't get turned into extra funds for development or lower prices. More money on Johnny-boy's wallet and that's about it. Sad but true. It's the nature of business today, charge more for less.

Oh I know. It's even more upsetting that a company as wealthy as EA would resort to doing it too.

I have nothing against Indians, I have two working on my dev team at work and they are fantastic guys. This just goes to show there are stupid people that trip out on power in every culture. I personally, would send your chat log up the food chain at Bioware and EA. They want to save money and make money, but they know that being uneccissarily rude does neither.

Hes probably mad because your calling for support on a game that costs what he makes in an entire week.

Origin is just awful. I'll never buy anything from them again.

I put in an order to buy a SWTOR authenticator and a game card from them via the origin client. Long story short, the order took forever to go through. I talked to a couple different people on the chat option, and the person asked me for my credit card number. Not just the last four digits, the entire thing. Plus my address and phone number.

Eventually the authenticator came...2 1/2 weeks later. And the game card code was hidden in the invoice they sent me. It was just an overly frustrating experience that I decided not to buy from them again.

I've been trying to get an old account that still has BioWare points on it linked to this one, and both times I've contacted them I've been told by Origin help that they cannot do that. Unfortunately for me I registered ME3 on this account that I had created for another EA/BioWare game (SW:TOR) forgetting about the old one. I'm sure they can actually link the accounts, not sure who I need to talk to to get it done but it sure as hell isn't Origin support.

Seriously the support people are TOTALLY ****ING USELESS. When I couldn't invite my friend to a game I contacted them. and they (tried) to have me jump through tons of hoops to fix it. Reinstall, Fix router, recycle router, blah blah blah. Whatever the issue was, it wasn't theirs and it had to be something I am doing blah blah blah blah.

It turns out, that the issue was super simple, he hadn't updated his version of the game, and the error for that wasn't in game yet. So we didn't know that was the issue.

They once told me I was lying when I told them there was no error code, that the connecting to game screen simply timed out and got froze there.

huh...I bought BF3 during the holiday sales on Saturday, and right after I finished my purchase I checked the ME3 store and I had my BF3 Soldier waiting for me.

Sorry to hear you're having such issue and having to go through support.

Outsourced Indian labor. I dealt with them for 8 hours trying to get them to move ME3 to my BSN EA account.

I actually had the opposite interactions with Origin support. I'd preordered SWTOR, and after getting into the Beta, found out my computer couldn't run it. Even though I was told I couldn't cancel my preorder, the Origin person went ahead and cancelled it for me and gave me a refund. So I was well pleased.

That said, it sucks you had a crappy experience. I guess it all just depends on who you manage to get as your rep.

I know this isn't ME3 related entirely, but just a heads up for anyone contacting Origin support via live chat. Just spoke with a live chat rep regarding an ongoing case related to me3, and this is the response I got:

You are now ready to chat with Masood.
Masood: Thanks for contacting EA Help! My name is Masood how may I help you?
Masood: xxx, are we still connected?

you: Yes, we're connected.

Masood: Please elaborate your issue.

you: I contacted support by phone recently regarding this case. I was told to contact in a few days to get an update.
you: I was wondering if there is any more information regarding the progression of the case?

Masood: Will you elaborate your issue or not?
Masood: It seems that you are away from the Keyboard, please let me know if we are still connected.

you: I am

Masood: Then what you waiting for?
Masood: Elaborate your issue.

you: Sorry, I assumed you'd have the information regarding this case on your system. I was linked from my case number to this live chat directly... how much are you aware of, do you need me to start from the beginning?

Masood: Just elaborate your issue in short.

you: Ok..

Masood: In our end, it clearly shows that you're contacting us first time from this email: xxx

you: Oh, well I've got a case number and a string of emails on my end... this is regarding the Battlefield 3 character for me3 that wasn't unlocked for me.
you: I was told it was being elevated to tier 2, and to contact again in a few days.

Masood: Please elaborate your issue in detail, don't keep guessing.

you: Sure
you: I'll explain from the start.

Masood: Cool
Masood: Also provide me the case number of your previous chat.

you: The case number is xxx

Masood: Now explain your issue in brief.

you: I had an origin account with Battlefield 3. I wanted to buy Mass Effect 3 on this account so I could unlock the Battlefield 3 promotional character. There was an error on origin that wouldn't let me buy Me3, so support told me to buy it on a new account, then they would link the accounts and I would get the promotion.

you: They linked the accounts for me and told me the promotion would unlock, but it didn't. This case has been ongoing for sometime now, but I brought this up with support over the phone last week and they told me it was being dealt with and to contact in a few days to ask about progress.

Masood: Which platform (Xbox 360, PC, PS3) are you playing the game on?

you: Pc...
you: I'm contacting you via Origin support...

Masood: xxx, I apologize on behalf of the previous representative. There is no such facility to link two accounts in EA. If you purchased the game from another account, that account can't be linked with your BF3 account.

Masood: Provide me the code of BF3 and ME3

you: Well, it already has been linked. The two accounts were merged by an Origin support rep the day I bought ME3, March 10th...

Masood: Just answer to my questions please.

you: I have answered your questions.

Masood: You did not. Check again.

you: I play on PC, and the two accounts have already been linked. What question would you like me to answer?

Masood: I asked you to provide me the code of BF3 and ME3.

you: What do you need the codes for may I ask?

Masood: And please avoid unnecessary argument, otherwise you could be ban from EA for your this behavior.

you: Excuse me?

Masood: I need code to verify your statement, that you said that the 2 accounts are linked.

you: It's okay, I think I'll call back tomorrow and speak with phone support. I have the person's name who I was dealing with, and they know my case.

you: Thank you for your help.

Masood: Okay
Masood: Thank you for contacting EA. Is there anything else I can help you with today?

you: No, thanks.

-

Not only was the guy rude, but he threatened me with a ban for no discernible reason. Language barrier, perhaps?

Has anyone else had similar experiences with Origin/Ea support?

Wow, if that guy was working for me he would be fired immediatley

I wonder how much costs could be cut if they replaced their chat support with a modified version of the Emacs psychologist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELIZA).

Oh, wait, they did that and gave them Indian names so people wouldn't catch on....

Yes. When the Raptor Commendation Pack/Online Pass issue occurred I tried EA live chat several times and each time they told me to wait until it was resolved. No timeline, no possible fixes, nothing. Just "our people are aware of the problem." So pointless.
They were polite but completely clueless about any problems or how to fix them/give people vital information.

Hello Jeffrey,

Thank you for the response.

I will start applying your games to your account.

As for the Dev Dog Tags, I unfortunately do not have access to these. So for compensation I wouldn't be able to get the tags, but I am willing to look into other options for compensation.

Please log into Origin and make sure you are able to play Battlefield 3. I also put Mass Effect 3 N7 Collector's Edition on your account as a token of apology from myself.

Please respond with some compensation ideas and we will move forward.

Thank you for your patience.

Some people get the worst and others get the goods.

I went to the actual ea website

help.ea.com/contact-us

Because Origins is a useless ****ing pos tool that EA decided to creat when redoing EAO.  And that ****ing tab thats for help doesn't work.

The person that I reached was polite, kind, needed a few info, and BAM my com pack was in the game, BAM, vicotry pack, BAM BAM my "I'm Sorry" pack with 300k credits.  Also did for my PS3 account too.
