This post is a temporary repository for links to various threads that were important to people using version 1.00 of the toolset, but that have been de-stickied because version 1.01 has overcome the issues that were discussed in them.

Don't Install the toolset if you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2 or lower

- The new toolset version can still run into the same problem on SP2 as the old one, since the fault lies in the MSSQL installer and we couldn't change that. But the installer now recognizes SP2 and gives the user a strongly-worded warning not to proceed unless they're prepared for the potential consequences.

Click Here if the Toolset Broke your DA:Origins Game

New toolset database pre-release - should fix the plot GUID bug

- The new toolset installer comes with a fresh new database containing correct GUIDs and string IDs. See http://social.biowar...abase_migration for information on how to migrate your content into the new database.

Toolset and Steam

- We've rearranged how the toolset installer manages the database so that it should no longer be an issue if your game is installed in a path longer than 58 characters.

Toolset Install Stuck at Execute:regsvr32.exe

- The installer should no longer hang if regsvr32 doesn't respond with a return code. Installation should proceed correctly whether regsvr32 responds or not.

Toolset lightmapper project

- The lightmapper included with toolset 1.01 is fully updated.

You can install on top of the old one. Make sure you read carefully before you do so, though, especially if you have done a lot of work in the 1.00 version. If you just jump and install the toolset and the database, without backing up your work first, you will lose the stuff you have done.

The release note has mentioned that the default database file bundled with v1.01 has the PGID problem fixed. During the installation, if you have options "the install the latest SQL database program" and "restore to the default database" checked, you work will be completely overwritten.

The download page has a link to DAToolset Wiki which tell you how to backup your database before installation and migrate the data after installation.

Version 1.0.0.194 refers to the underlying structure of the database, which thankfully, has not changed since the original release of the toolset.  We have included a version number on the Single Player Module.  If you go to File>>Manage Modules, then click on Single player and then Properties, you should see a field called Version. with the latest release, the version should say 1.02.

Confused - Have upgraded and copied modules over as stated. I now try and edit them and they have no effect on the game - I deleted the folder in the addins directory, hoping a new export would solve any issues.

I export Module again and it doesn't create a folder in the addin directory and non of the old resources that did work no longer work.

It did shove a load of files in the core/override/toolset directory but they are completly ignored by the game

What should I do?

Bioware, you make me crazy.

1. patch 1.02 of the maingame make the game slower and dialogs are wrong and and and...
2. update 1.01 (deinstalled all and installed new game and updated toolset) of the toolset and i have suddenly that stupid error 'unable to connect to the database'
(if i first install the old version of toolset and after without sql, it works).

I have thought patches should fix problems and not cause...

Edit: Or did i wrong, and this is only an upgrade and you need the old 1.0 version for the version 1.01? :innocent: Hmmm, but the download of the toolset is 1.01 and no more 1.0...

exported the Demo Module from the new tool set to the game. Export Log throws up: " E: sys_traps_h.nss - sys_traps_h.nss(1521): No right bracket on expression" . Looked at sys_traps_h.nss line 1521 did not see any missing bracket.
Result the 'lever" in the Demo Game does not work.
Any Idea what to do?

Now i see after longer testing, this patch 1.01 fix not much (except the eclipse 1.2 is involved, but could do manual in old version), not even the water bug in the level editor: http://social.biowar...74/index/312367 sigh...

But now, i made all adjustments, i can work with. I didn't know that you have to study informatic to install and work the toolset (like Master of Darkness said) ;)

I am really interested in installing the toolset and give it a try. But I do have SP2 and dont really want to deal with the headache it might cause me if I do install it.

So my question is this. My windows vista run updates from time to time, but it dont upgrade to SP3. I've checked the microsoft page and I think I can DL Sp3 there, but I wonder what migth happen with all the other things I have installed if I do get SP3.

Now that the X-mas week have arrived for me I got lots of days off work, which could be used to learn the ropes of the toolset and maybe make a few modules. Would it be safe for me to install SP3, or is it enough I maybe install some SQL thing that seem to be the culprit?

The SP2 issue is with XP.  However, you refer above to Vista, which does not have that problem.
Even with XP running SP2, the problem only occurs for some users.  If you are running XP SP2 and decide to install the toolset,  do some research before hand, make sure you are backed up, and have read some information on how to get your computer out of the reboot cycle before you begin, in case it happens to you.  For lots of people it does not happen, but when it does, it is not at all pleasant :)
The reboot issue is a SQL Server 2005 issue that has been resolved in SP3, otherwise, the toolset runs just fine on SP2.

Some places to look for more information:
http://social.biowar...s_after_install

http://social.biowar.../index/110833/1

Whether you decide to gamble and install it on SP2 or not is up to you.  If you decide to do it, just make sure you are prepared for the worst.

I installed 1.01 toolset today, have game patched to 1.02, running Vista 64-bit. Things seem to be working, HOWEVER, every time I try to Save a modified merchant (.utm) object, or Save As an unmodified object, the toolset crashes. Can anyone else confirm this? Or is it just me?

EDIT: maybe my problem is trying to save rather than export...

So apparently it's impossible to simply uninstall and install a fresh new copy of the toolset? What kind of stupid release is this? I uninstalled everything and tried simply installing the new toolset as provided in the download section and it refuses to work... and now I have to go through a ridiculous amount of complicated steps I couldn't care less about to "migrate" my database? Really?

This toolset installer is horrible. I don't wanna sound rude, but it sucks, it's a piece of ****. >=( .

I've been struggling to make that thing work for hours now, reading and following all the troubleshooting instructions with no success, it's very frustrating. I'll post an apology for my language when I'll have calmed down.

I'm having the same issue...

And all I want is to change my PC's voice. I'd better ask someone nicely to do that for me.

Woot finally. I'll mail you all my grey hair BioWare.

And 9 months later.... still hasn't been fixed. Thankfully, if you search on the error mesage, you get led to a utility called CFF Explorer that lets you set a variable on the toolset EXE file to allow for the larger memory limit. That will allow you to load the save game. But it makes the toolset use over 3 GB of memory all by itself when the game save is loaded. Insane......

Looks to me as though Bioware has given up on this.

I can't get the toolset to work, every time I try to start it, It says that the toolset needs to be configured, so I tried to configure, when I am done with that I try to open the toolset again and get the same message. My OS is Windows XP Profession SP3. I even tried Unistalling and then reintalling again, but still nothing. Anyone Have any Ideas as to what I may be doing wrong or how to fix this problem.
