Why is it that everytime I play this map everyone wants to hold the open area in the middle of the map?(You know, where that 1 hard hacking spot appears?)
Am I missing something here?Image IPB
Do people like getting overwhelmed and dying every 10 seconds?
And this is silver and gold difficulty, I'd assume everyone knows better than to stand there in the open and get killed.Image IPB

You mean a little bit off from where the LZ is?

I guess it affords good visibility of all incoming enemies.

Yeah the area to the right of the LZ with that nearly impossible hack zone. Hardly anyone uses cover and I usually have to carry the whole team until they realize that big bunker (aka; control room) where I usually run to is a much more defensible position.

I've never seen that, except for the first few waves when there isn't much to be scared of. People seem to congregate to the high ground.

That's exactly my spot as-well. Just gotta be careful with cerberus, they can use that ledge to the right and easily flank you, since they have jump-jets. ^^

It's still a perfect sniper-spot, with enough room to retreat back through the bunker when under pressure. :)

Well some players just have poor tactical thinking. Communications helps if they listen.

With most of the better teams, it's almost instinctive: we start out the same place looking for early kills but when things get hot we are dynamic enough to quickly disperse (usually in pairs so one can revive the other) into one of the bunkers.

I once had a team fight in the room RIGHT next to the LZ, where objectives sometimes spawn.

There's really only two places enemies can come from: dead ahead, where you have plenty of time to riddle them with holes before they get close, and from that enclosed hallway with the ladder to the right, which isn't much of a problem at all since most enemies just take the more direct route.

I've only seen one team do this and they were awwwwwwwful.

I had to solo waves 8 and 9....used all my consumables...then they all get insta-killed in the first 30 seconds of wave 10.

No wave 10 credits after all that crap :(

Me and my friends like to hold the stairs to the control room and the bottom end of the control room. Two guys on either entrance is a pretty good setup.

Usully i run for the elavated "bunker" at the end of the kill zone. But if the rest of the team stand in the killzone, then i wont get any enemies to kill becasue they will ruin the spawns.

You're worried about killstealing?
You do realize the points don't matter, as everyone receives the same amount of credits and xp, right?Image IPB

You do realize that the point of this game is to kill enemies right? If you get no enemies to kill then what is the point in playing? Share the kills along with the xp.

Giant open area is like Dagger open area - it is grabber paradise. If team play smart, don,t push too much forward and keep escape route ( ladder to bunker room) clear there is no problem. But sometime bad teams reset spawning points in very worst ways and enemy start spawn in big ramp over this area.
I just keep my head down and if im under fire i use "roll over corner" or "jump over cover" to switch direction and quick take new cover. If enemy push too hard - retreat to bunker room or in tunnel.
Also sometime bunker room can be dead-trap too if enemy spawn in proper ways and attack from all 4 directions.

Keep spawns predictable at the beginning of each wave. Then spawn rush. Enemies spawn in clusters on giant which is perfect for nade bombing. Camping a defensible position and waiting for them to come just gives them opportunities to spread out.

True , but some teams dont have AoE or Grenadiers. This is high risk / high reward tactic and sometime lot of players end down. Also if you rush spawning points too hard, next SPwP will be right behind you.

Yeah, if people stay out in the open on Gold they will prob die. That's not really anything unique to Giant :P

Every map has 1 place where majority of players always stay.  Usually the most wide open place with no cover.

That's where my friends & I stay when we play gold & silver.

I dunno why people say the control room is so great, place seems like a deathtrap to me. Only one window which gives poor battlefield visibility, not much room for maneuvering, only two viable exits(the ladder is one person at a time and too slow).

Now, the ramp leading to the control room and the immediately surrounding area is better. a good mix of cover and visibility, plenty of escape options. This is where i always see teams go to.

I played Firebase Giant few times my Geth Engineer and this is easy !

I create my Geth Turret with Flamethrower and all enemies quick die. This is very funny. But 10 waves is a horror ! Big map. :/

My favorite instance is when everyone tires to snipe on the ramp to the left of the control room, and the enemies spawn on the right, inside the base and massacre the entire team.

Well, I thought it was strange until I did it too.

If you have a good team on Gold, you can hold the middle and absolutely slaughter everyone that comes through. Makes for a quicker game, too.

So yeah, it IS a killzone - for the enemy.

This is what happened to me EVERY silver match I had on Giant. I didn't get one silver extraction all of yesterday just because i was too busy dying in vain attempts to keep my team alive.

But then I started searching for gold matches and found all the good players again. Always feels good for a full team to end a match with everyone within a couple thousand points of eachother.

Only real players can stand in the open and fight on :innocent: Guess I'm a real player
