Just for your infromation, i cant actually believe i have had to explain this on several occasions, yes there are different accents over here in England. Just like America and everywhere else in the world :blink:

I understand its a small country compared to most but come on people am i the only one that thinks its a stupid question. We have different accents just by going a few miles up the road. There are plenty of different accents just in London alone.

So if you do speak to me on XBL now you know. Crazy stuff I know :o

Many of us Americans are legendarily stupid. I consider myself lucky to be one of the few who aren't.

There's 4 general/more popular ones, I think, right, cockney, Liverpool, London, and somethingelseIdon'trememberdon'tfrownmeinyourtea. I, personally know there are more than 1. I love British accents. Mmmm...

Anyway America is full of idiots. Why don't we drop a bomb here?

I know how you feel, more often than not I find myself having to slowly pronounce each and every word because people just don't get the accent <_<
That's when i come off as sounding like that posh British stereotype with the liking for tea and crumpets.

I was in a game in which there was a person with a thick Irish accent, in which my friend replied that he had familiy in Ireland, in which the guy asked if he knew were they lived, said the name of the place (dont recall). Turns out the guy knew them. Small world is small.

Manc = Machester
Brummy = Burmingham
Scouce = Liverpool
cockney = London

Even this is a massive generalisation to say the least. London is not full of cockney speaking (Snatch or Lockstock) people. I wish it was tho

Geordie (Newcastle; good luck understanding that one) and Mancunian (Manchester).

Birmingham is a pretty long and drawn out accent.  You also missed Yorkshire.

Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, South Coast etc all have significantly different accents. If you go beyond England to the rest of the UK you have various Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish accents too.

As long as it doesn't sound like Keith Richards talking then I have no problem understanding the kind people from across the pond.

I met a scottish cat on ME3 MP! He cracks me up when he craps all over the less than skilled players who die all the time for not following the plan.

...I see a list of english accents here. We seem to be missing Wales, Ireland and Scotland in all of these lists. I, as a Scotsman, am slightly concerned.

That's because we don't class Scottish as an accent, it's so hard to understand it's practically a different language. ;)

Geographic ignorance != stupidity.
