Hi there,

I switched on my PC with Mass Effect 3 and Origin on this evening.
It is WIn7 Ultimate 32 bit.

As Origin comes on, it starts downloading a 32MB patch for ME3.
It gets to the end, starts 'Finalising' and then a block pops up saying "You must be logged in as an Administrator to continue" and the only option I have is to close.
I am logged in as THE administrator on the PC, and everything I have on the PC was installed under that account.
The ME icon in Origin is now showing a download at 100%, and you can not start the program.
If I click on the resume button it downloads the 32MB again and I get the same message.

I have restarted Origin, logged out and in, and restarted the PC to no avail.

If I now cancel the download and click on Mass Effect to start it, it says there is a update, do I want to download, and I chose "Not Now" it loads about 1MB of the game into RAM, and that's it!
I have also tried downloading the patch at this point and it gives me the same error as above.

Firewall is off, UAC is off.

Please advise! It was all fine yesterday before it wanted to install the patch!

Thanks .....

Ok, i downloaded the origin setup from molecularman link and the patch got installed. I'll try to launch the game now, hoping for no more errors.

My update is still stuck at 100% and finalizing. I'm really tempted to just crack this game and continue playing my Shepard.

Thanks MolecularMan. It patched and now Rebellion DLC is downloading. Bioware should make your link a sticky!

Thanks MolecularMan for the link :) But it doesn't change my opinion that Origin Beta (Why releasing it to public if it's still in beta? It's very buggy) sucks ballbags.

Another thing you might try is opening task manager, where you will find "reg.exe" running (I had about 9 copies running, from all my failed attempts to install the patch). Close them all and try to install the update again. It looks like the patch sometimes stalls at the point of writing to the registry and you have to close "reg.exe" in order to truly start over. Closing and reopening origin doesn't help. Also changing the properties of me3.exe to run as administrator doesn't help. Personally, I just downloaded the manual update to orgin, since the "official" patch would not allow me to launch me3 inside origin.

I installed the Origin update (or downgrade in this case) but I still get the "Administrator" error when I try to download a patch.

And here I was thinking maybe Origin wasn't so bad. Silly me.

I used to get the admin error too. What fixed it for me was upping the security level on my User Account Control. I had it set to the lowest level; I set it one higher than that. Now when I try to update, it asks if I want to let it, I say yes, and it continues successfully.

well where do i begin? after patch it started with the me3 not launching but origin saying it was launching..getting duplicates of processes when i retry, so let's reinstall origin i thought (tried that 3 times now) reinstall me3 maybe since i need to be admin (which i am , set to run as admin and i ran it as admin when i launched it) let me download but to install i need to be admin...nothing i can do will change this 'must be admin' bs , how do i express the anger and frustration without being offensive? idk and i can't find a fix that works so i'm stuck with this problem that didn't exist b4 patch, my uac is maxed too btw that didn't fix it for me... exasperated and furious i throw my hands up in defeat

DrArroganto - I'm having the exact same problem as you. I'm trying all kinds of stuff, but nothing appears to be working. I kept getting duplicates of MassEffect3.exe that were 604KB apiece in my "Processes" tab in Task Manager, so I uninstalled ME3.

Now I can't reinstall due to the "You must be logged in as an admin..." message. It's since the last update, it's completely borked it. Hopefully EA will see there's a bug needs fixing.

And here I was going to buy Battlefield 3 today - Well, I aren't giving EA another penny until they can get Origin at least playing games.

EDIT: Using http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/8640117.page;jsessionid=23D397FAD241B20E1A556B97DB66D83B seems to have fixed my Admin message error, now I just need to wait until my game has re-downloaded to see if it's fixed the launch issues. I will keep you posted.

Did you try changing your UAC security level?

Well. Guess who it is? It's a person who has problems with the Origin. Damn I tried everything and it isn't working. Just Because I installed the newest Patch, and YES! Mass Effect 3 is original. I don't know what to do now, I'm a fan from the very beggining of the series and I won't let some dumb program ruin this.
PS: I'm sorry for this but I'm very furious.

Edit: Wow, Thanks, molecularman Image IPBImage IPBImage IPB. I reinstalled the Origin from those links. And it worked. Downloading From Ashes, Rebellion, and Resurgence right now. Thanks!
