I wonder if there will be romance... It would probably mean less drama, if there weren't.

Although I would be really interested in how they would handle gay romance. Somehow that seems unlikely to happen.

I hope not.

Poland.  Conservative, heavily Catholic Poland.  We'll be lucky to see a side boob.

Someone's never played The Witcher 2.

LOL. Funny considering people who never played the game always seem to mention that.

Tell me about it. People never shut up about that stuff. Good thing that game wasn't made in America or Canada though. You would see sparks from people in full armor dry humping.

But it's being made with quite a few American developers. Besides, if they're going to put those things in the game, why not add in gay ones?

Good god, I hope not.  Let's leave that soap opera to Bioware.

The setting doesn't interest me much.  I was hoping for something a little more out of the ordinary- seems very generic.  But it's CDPR, so I'm sure it'll be good.

CDPR has more balls than most Western developers. We got side boob... and then some. I'm also curious as to how they handle romance and what the available options are. I think that they did a good job with Triss (though Yennefer was a bit lacking)... however, those were romances that already had a deep history and were kind of a given -- either you developed, kept, or rejected feelings. There was never really much choice to actually pursue another NPC other than a quickie.

I have faith in CDPR... so far, their storytelling hasn't disappointed me. I think they could be capable of creating good relationships.

I don't want gay romances just for the sake of having them like in Bioware games. It adds nothing but then again I'd rather not have romances in general I liked how it was handled in Witcher because it felt realisitic you know how Triss and Geralt are **** buddies pretty much. I've had a couple of those in my life. If CDProjekt can make the romances not take away from the story then sure why not? Helps to flesh out the characters more but I don't want some fanservice like Bio did with Tali and Garrus.

Where are you people getting this from? Aside from Deus Ex Human Revolution and Mirror's Edge, name another Cyberpunk game in the last 8 years.

"You people"?  Posted Image

Futuristic shooter is pretty standard fare.  It just doesn't seem to have anything different to it.  I had been hoping for a Dune RPG myself, and one reason I like the Dune setting is because it's low-tech high-tech and in some ways is like historical science fiction.  Also I was thinking of Dishonored which is a dystopian futuristic game but has some really unique design elements.

Not a "shooter".  Crysis and Crysis 2 fit your bill as "futuristic shooter" but not RPG.  Is ME a shooter?  It's futuristic but not a shooter.  Deus Ex: HR is futuristic, but not a shooter.  Action RPG.  Will have shooting in it as it is (thankfully) not a swords and sorcery game where it would be a...slasher?  A swisher?

Good point, no one wants a repeat of Tali and Garrus. The only reason Triss works well with Geralt is because they're both heavily scripted that way. That's the only way to do that. With one or two that aren't tied to a single orientation is the only way to be "fair" about it. To be honest, it's best that they keep it to a side NPC and not a major character that's written poorly (Tali, Garrus).

Dishonored is Steampunk, not Cyberpunk. The world is set in has high Vicotrian influences in its art and architecture so it's an entirely different beast altogether. Simply being in the future is not all there is to Cyberunk. There aren't any games in that market besides Deus Ex and Mirror's Edge. This would be a third. Given that there are hundreds of 3ps, fps and medieval fantasies, this is a step someone needed to take.

They say it isn't.  No steam or rivets.

And all I was saying is the setting has no appeal for me.  It's just my opinion, man.

The need for steam/smoke and rivets is only needed in Dieselpunk. Steampunk just need machinery in a period of time before it would have existed. Like a kind of wrist watch in the 8th century.

From the Dishonored Wiki

Dishonored is an upcoming first-person Neo-Victorian/steampunk stealth action video game being developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is scheduled to be released in October 2012 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360

Not saying you have to like it, but it's not popular nor is it all over the place. It's really the smallest market in gaming that I can think of.

I'm not talking about it as a game but as a setting. What's unique about the world? For those of you who know the pen and paper RPG, what's appealing about the setting?

Remembering a bloody good Cyberpunk Pen and Paper adventure back in the day with my best friend and some nerds. World is fullblood tech like the stuff from William Gibson not a hybrid like Shadowrun.

Hope there will be no diminishing sales for Shadowrun Returns due to that news. Had a good time with Assassins of Kings. The Red Engine is top notch and I think the devs can pull it off.

If your not familiar with the setting the general idea is the work of William Gibson. His most famous novel is Neuromancer. As far as I know only one book/shortstory by him has made it into a movie. Johnny Mnemonic. Not a really good example as you can see at the rating. But I know some guys wo are really into his stuff.

The setting they described is Steampunk. Which is what I was talking about. All ____punk genres have a dystopian settings or themes. This game is clearly set in the past. It's very different from what's been pumped out over the past few years, and so is CDPR CYBERPUNK game.

What's appealing about the setting? You've never seen Blade Runner? A Scanner Darkly? Equilibrium? Code 46? Children of Men?

First you're talking about how it's not like every other futuristic game made but is a very specific genre, then how it's like all of those very different futuristic movies? Like I said, it seems kind of generic if you can compare it to all of those.

But, it's early, so it's normal that it'd be vague. I'm glad it razzes something for some people. I'll follow it because it's CDPR, but I'm disappointed it's not Dune. I really want a good Dune game.
