Will there at least be cyborgs? Or AI's? Or something other than just regular humans?

If you scroll a few pages back, you can see the links to all the info about the world of Cyberpunk2020, which is the source material for this game:

here is a link to the timeline of events in the game world.

The world is dominated by a few megacorporations, and you can play a corporate raider, a cop, mercenary, hacker, back alley medic, journalist, or even a "rockerboy" (a kind of bard). The dystopian aspects of the game world were central to every campaign I played. What I found interesting was that the more cybernetic implants you acquire, there is a humanity cost as you transition toward cyborg.

If the games not gonna be released for another two to three years why did they even announce it yet seems real anti climatic .

Well, probably because they had a blog post regarding hiring people for 2 AAA+ games, with one being an entirely new IP... and that a ton of people were speculating on it for days and days?

There are a lot of games announced well more than a year before release. Truth be told, not everyone is even aware of them until the trailers start popping up as the date gets closer.

That's a fairly standard industry practice.  Most devs announce a new game with about 30 months to release.  It lets them build a bit of an audience, and as they release screenshots and info on gameplay etc., they get some feedback on how that test audience feels about it while there is time to tweak things.  Hopefully it won't take as long as DA:O, Duke Nukem Forever, Half Life episode 3 or anything from Blizzard.

You people are too grumpy over this MP thing.
There are good RPGs with good multiplayer, BG,IWD, NWN, Vampire MQ: Redemption.

And also where do you get they are making Cyberpunk MP? Only open position for MP programmer
is in "RPG in a Dark Fantasy World"...

I'm going to go ahead and say that it will be some sort of horde mode.  Like the arena in TW2, but with a team.

It's a resource issue. You have to choose your focus when developing a game. This is why Arkham City and Skyrim are single player only - multi-player would have spread resources too thin. That's not coming from some entitled fanboy, it's what the developers themselves said. I fully expect multi-player to be announced for CyberPunk now.

I hope to god in TW3 it's limited to Arena mode. I didn't post this in The Witcher thread cause it's buried in spam right now.

To be fair, the PnP game was always multiplayer. On the bright side, perhaps they might do something like the way co-op will be integrated into the Shadowrun kickstarter game - a modding tool for player-created dungeons and quests, sort of a throwback to PnP.

Aye, Neverwinter Nights some of the most fun online. PnP games and multiplayer just makes sense and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines was supposed to have co-op before the company well died off.

This game looks pretty promising. I'd like for more game developers to create fun, engaging, immersive, and smart RPGs based on the cyberpunk genre because I just find the genre so relatable to life. We can kill people in third world countries with unmanned flying machines, your telecom service provider is passing notes to the government, the wealth gap is widening, most media outlets are propaganda mouthpieces for the establishment, surveillance cameras are everywhere, and hell, someone I know recently got her house raided at gunpoint by federal agents in full tactical gear just to confiscate computers and serve subpoenas. Probably doesn't hurt either that half my friends are politically anti-authority and wear studded and patched vests and are likely to develop drinking and hearing problems by the time they hit 40. I seriously crave a good RPG that does the genre justice. If it has a gritty neon 80s style dystopic aesthetic, then that's bonus points. Hell yeah, bring on the cyberpunk RPGs

Also I hope the soundtrack doesn't suck

MM360 answered some questions.

"Richie79: What elements are you using as inspiration (references) for making Cyberpunk?

Marcin Momot: There are quite a few actually. Aside from the obvious ones like the works of William Gibson or the Blade Runner movie, we also take from the first Ghost in the shell, both anime and manga. We’re also looking up to ShellShock because of its interesting approach to gameplay. The first part of Deus Ex is also a very important source of inspiration to us.

Guipit: Will choosing your class affect the story? If so, how much?

MM: It’s always been very important to us to deliver mature and ambitious entertainment. It’s not going to be any different this time around. We want to keep the role system from the pen & paper version of Cyberpunk. As opposed to the regular fantasy set-up with mages, warriors and archers, we’re going for something different. In Cyberpunk, each character role will offer a set of special skills that will impact your stats in many different ways. That’s where the challenge kicks in, we want to create a game where character customization will be strongly tied with the plot. Now going from that, we believe that we can make a game where, with many different role choices, you will get a very strong, engaging story, just like it was with The Witcher.

Mihura: Will there be full customization of our character like a D&D game, things like gender, ethnicity, moral stand point, sexuality...etc or we will be restrict to something like Geralt from TW2?

MM: We definitely want to give players way more freedom with customization of the main protagonist then they had with Geralt in The Witcher series. We are planning on letting them change their statistics, equipment, implants and much more.

Saoe: When can we expect to see more info, screenshots or first videos from the game?

MM: I keep bothering guys from the art team to release some new content soon but they don’t want to listen to me for some reason. I won’t give up though, so make sure to follow our website and social media because when I finally convince them, you will be the first ones to know.

Geralt The Riv: Will the setting be a totally new designed by CDPR(You know like name of the planet, country, state, city etc) or just a mimic of a current location?(New York, L.A. Miaimi etc.....)

MM: Cyberpunk’s story takes place all over the world, but we’re going to focus on it’s most characteristic venue - Night City. One thing is certain, we want to make a game with an open, living world that stays true to the source material."

I can't help but notice how hard he tried to avoid actually saying if you get to create the protaganist or not. He didn't cover any of the things listed in the question. Meh.

Still the rest of it sounds pretty good.

Even if the character is set in cannon, the option of physical customization goes a long way in rpgs.

Character customization is a bonus. If the story and plot are on the witcher series level and actual choice and consequences, IM SOLD!!!!!!

Heh, they dodged the gender question, not exactly promising for those who want to play female, as I'm pretty sure they'd have that element of the game decided by now. I'm willing to bet we play as a predefined character since that's what they do so well. I'm pleased to see Ghost in the Shell as an inspiration - I think it should be considered a classic of the genre. It's also interesting to hear your class will affect the plot. That's what made DA: Origins good.

Also this from the Polish section:

Quick translation:

Kielek486: What will the editions be (i.e. Collector's Edition or Normal)

Marcin Momot: I think considering our penchant for having special editions for our games up to date, and also the fact that we always strive to give the players everything we can in thanks for their support, you can expect unique gadgets and bonus materials, which entails releasing more than one edition of the game. Let's remember though, that this is still a song of the future - I'll let you know when we'll get around to working on that.

Vojtasass & Kereth: To what degree will Cyberpunk reference the p&p game's mechanics? How extensively is Mike Pondsmith involved in designing the game?

MM: Really a lot of people in our studio are fans of the p&p Cyberpunk. These are people who grew up playing this game, and now have the chance to shape its computer game adaptation. While working on both Witcher games, we learend how to create mature stories for discerning audiences. Our method of narration, attention to detail in presenting locations, sometimes very brutal realities - all this we want to carry over to the Cyberpunk world. As far as mechanics and solutions that we'd want to implement go, we have a whole slew of gameplay ideas that we couldn't use in The Witcher, because they wouldn't fit that world - Cyberpunk gives us more leeway in this regard. Mike Pondsmith is the father of the whole system, he created it along with his friends, together they established the rules, so naturally we're working very close with him, to best match his vision and mechanics in our game. During his last visit, Mike spent a huge amount of time with the team, talking about particular solutions and establishing details of gameplay mechanics. From what I've been able to hear from him personally, it's clear that he's very satisfied with our vision and ideas.

The only problem with using GITS as an inspiration for the game is that their use of augmentations are so advanced that the naked eye can't tell a naked human from Motoko. From an artistic perspective, it's cool to see circuitry aligned with skin. Would love for that to be a big part of the character designs.

This is great news - Night City was an excellent Cyberpunk2020 sourcebook, and would make a fantastic setting for the game.

...open, living world that stays true to the source material

The same goes for CP2020, we had both wihly highly wired maniacs and cyber-psychos, human pilots linked to their power armours and complete borgs coming in various shapes like in Battle Angel Alita. Plus exotics, implanted and engineered to the point of losing all human features.
My point is we can have both.

If I can't play as a female, I won't buy. A true RPG of this era should allow both genders. There are so many girl gamers out there now... it's a growing market. Not to mention all the men that like to roleplay a woman.

GGER=Game Gender Equal Representation. Keep demanding it!

They definitely dodged the gender question which doesn't bode well.
For a game slated to be released 2014-15 and with the pool of female gamers only increasing it seems a risky decision to force the main protagonist to be male.
What, do they think that the 5 million (a number CDProjekt likes to quote) pnp players that they hope to lure to this computer game are only creating male player characters?
I mean, they also quote Ghost in the Shell as a strong influence. Does CDProjekt not know who the main protagonist is in that series!?
If I can't create a female player character for a cyberpunk styled computer game then I won't be buying it.

I'm sorry but I can't relate to that. Even though I'm hoping for the chance to play as a woman in Cyberpunk, I wouldn't miss out on any game based purely on the protagonist's gender. It's not a risky business proposition either, as gaming will be male dominated for a long time to come.

I would like to play a female but I'm not going to demand anything. Game developers should make the protagonist that will best fit their game. All I care about is that it's a good character.

See I feel the opposite. The player should get to make the protaganist they want. Especially when doing an adaptation of a game where players get to make the protaganist they want.
