I'll wait here for you to answer the other 2/3 of my post. Convenient of you to leave that out, and attack a point using information that contradicts your own point. Calling a group nothing but bandits is quite indicative of what one would think of said group.

And if you continue to insult me due to you being unable to properly articulate your points and feel like you need that extra punch to get your flawed points across, i won't argue this anymore. Not that there is anything to argue about, you're completely and utterly wrong. I don't even know why i continue debating this.

And what 2/3 of your post are you refering to? That part where you believe that Geralt telling his companions one of his motives is indicative of the player defining Geralt's motivations? I honestly diddnt believe you had a point worth responding to but if you insist.

Geralt's motivations for pursuing Letho would be to clear his name of Foltest's assassination, find out what Letho knows about Geralt's past and find and rescue Triss, now during certain points within the game you may get to decide which goal takes priority but this does not mean you get to define Geralt's motivations, Geralt's motivations are already defined, at no point are you able to define a motivation for Geralt that he is chasing Letho because he wants to give him his half of their BFF bracelet, of course you can pretend this is the case but then you are not really following the story but rejecting the reality presented to you by the game and substituting your own and as I said earlier I am not here to tell you want you want to hear and validate your delusions.

I am not trying to be insulting I am merely speaking the truth, I cant be faulted if you dont want to hear it.

I now direct you back to my first post. I said with Geralt you can customize certain aspects within the boundaries presented by the game; which was my entire damned point. The restrictions in customization allow for more reciprocation form the game-world, and not your imagination. But you're here telling me Geralt is as set as Max Payne, which is complete crap.

A Geralt whom takes priority in attaining Triss will have a completely different thought process to a Geralt whom takes priority in his ideals (As shown in the Triss/Saskia choice at the end of the game). Differences like this lead to a stark contrast in character development, leading to different variations to the character of Geralt.

You mean like stats, equipment and hairstyle? Sure you can customize those but that is not the same as customizing Geralt's personality and stuff which is all pretty much set in stone.

I don't even know how you could derive "stats & equipment" from what i just said.

@post below me: How about you just read what's been written on this subject in the last couple pages. It sounds like you read one brief remark and decided to reply.

Well those are the only things you can really customize about Geralt apart from his hairstyle. I really dont see how customizing these things changes much about his thought processes other than the way the player decides to handle combat.

I'm sincerely doubting people who claimed to have played The Witcher 2 yet are oblivious to the choices you can make throughout the campaign.

Your point? I am well aware that there are many choices to be made throughout the course of the Witcher 2 however that doesnt change the fact that Geralt is a defined character with defined motivations, ideals and points of view. Perhaps it is you who lacks a proper understanding of the character you have taken the role of?

How can geralts motivations be set it stone when he has lost his memory. Most of the choices you make are to DEFINE his motivations. I think you need to take a closer look at witcher series mate.

I think what Gandalf is referring to is the fact that although there are some choices and variations along the way in how you choose to play Geralt, he is still largely a predefined character based on the protagonist of the Witcher novels. There are different endings based on your choices along the way, but you don't have the freedom to play wildly different kinds of characters in the game.

Not that it is necessarily bad or good in itself, but whenever you play a game with a voiced, predefined protagonist character and a highly cinematic narrative, there is usually going to be less flexibility in the character customization compared with a silent protagonist in a narrative developing out of emergent sandbox gameplay.

This should be good, do go into detail my good man, so what motivation through your choices did you DEFINE for Geralt? To be honest I am not sure you even know what a motivation is.

I have no idea what goofball Geralt has to do with this. I don't recall any morality system in CP 2020. There is the struggle with the loss of humanity as you become more and more machine, and I hope they keep a lot of that in there.

If there is that dynamic, the loss of humanity through augmentation, I hope they cast that in the same grey morality they do everything else..

Didn't i already tell you? Choosing between Saski and Triss, for example, is choosing between Geralt's love and Geralt's idealism. Hence creating a slightly  altered version of Geralt that will likely evolve differently.

I already said this, but you conveniently skipped my post and attacked the people who just got here.

Do you really expect me to respond to every half baked point you present in some futile attempt to derail this thread and prove me wrong? Ok fine Ill humour you, tell me Gibbs, what are the implications of a character who decides to save Triss over helping Saskia? What are the implications of a character who decides to help Saskia over saving Triss? Are these really 2 actions indicative of 2 entirely different characters or 2 actions open to the same character who could be swayed into doing either with the flip of a coin?

Geralt faces the same choice on Roche's side as well, the choice to help Roche rescue Foltest's daughter or to save Triss, choosing one choice doesnt mean that the other is irrelevant or unimportant, choosing to help Roche doesnt mean Geralt is leaving Triss to her fate or that he has given up on her however Geralt cant do both at the same time, does he help Roche and secure an ally when it comes to rescuing Triss or does he make the justification that Roche is capable enough to handle his own problems and go save Triss by himself?

A character making a choice at the flip of a coin? Forget it.

I mean for god sake, the first game had an entire quest line that was dedicated to you crafting certain key ideals and characteristics. Such character defining choices wouldn't be in the series if they werent inherently character defining.

But whatever. Enlightening you doesn't aid me in anyway. I've just always been an unnecessarily selfless person I guess.

Well this doesn't look exactly like every other T'n'A sci-fi aesthetic before it at all.
