I'm running Vista 64 bit (i7 920, 6GB, GTX 280) and have encountered some freezing and stuttering. A game restart seemed to solve most of my issues. I've also experienced several crashes. Perhaps the game has a memory leak?BTW, the game is optimized for multicore: http://www.pcgamesha...cores/Practice/Okay, disabled the multicore, using only CPU0 on my phenom, same exact issue, ironically no loading differences - by all appearances this program only uses one core by default, in 32-bit mode...obviously some curious issues here.
So they say! heheheh

I'm having a different problem. Whenever I get about 10 minutes into gameplay, my screen, well... the best term I can think of is "Spazes out". It looks like someone chopped up the screen and is shuffling them around. Additionally, planes of different colors come out of character models, obscuring the view.(SPOILERS, i think) I am currently at the section where you have just recently entered lothering.(SPOILERS possibly end)

This is most troubling, have you made sure of latest drivers / updates / whole nine yards?

Vista Home Professional 64-bit
AMD 955 Black Edition (4 core 3.2 ghz)
4 gigs DDR2 800
Geforce 8800GT 512mb
This is a fresh install as I upgraded the processor for this game. Everything is on the latest via Windows update, and graphics/sound are updated from the provider (whatever was newest 2 days ago, nvidia for the graphics, gigabyte for the sound).

I have similar problems to TrinaryOuroboros. Screen shuts off, have to reboot the system. Similar specs, AMD 9850 Quadcore, slightly OCed, 2 4850s, slightly OCed. Only starged to happen once I hit Ostagar, played through the castle just fine.
Seems no matter what I do in Ostagar it gets foiled, too - it wasn't like that in the beginning, though, it actually lasted a Long time, I got to talk to Every Single person in the camp before bothering with the initiation, and the failures started when I walked Back Over the bridge to snoop around and crack open a few locked chests...ever since then, even when coming back in from the starting zone, Ostagar completely blows, won't let me play at all...

Update: Copied my character / save games over to my Desktop, when in Lothering / post-Ostagar, so far not one moment where everything cuts out like it did before, however, numerous times the game gets really choppy/laggy, and sometimes talking with NPC's can be a total drag as you'll be looking at a frozen image before your Chat selections appear, or before the conversation fully ends and you get back into the game, and also when you're initiating chat. Lastly, Loading time is absolutely Absurd, one time took me 15 minutes for a 2 minute cheer cinematic in Redcliffe after defeating the first wave of zombies...pathetic. FYI: XBox technology is about two years old in my guess, my hardware isn't quite that old yet it behaves worse - are you planning on correcting all this or do I need to suggest mischief to the BBB?

I'm so happy someone responded to my support case, even if it was entirely useless!

I'm having a freeze issue along with the many others on this thread, but my freezing is in a VERY specific spot...
"Possibly Spoiler" the freezing occurs in the wilds just outside ostagar on yout quest to become a grey warden. as soon as it is loaded, I get to walk about 5 steps, just after the squirell runs past you (yes, i've tried that many options to fix it I noticed exactly where) it freezes. Sound continues, but task manages says no response and graphics don't move. Happens on both characters i've tried. both human warriors so i'm trying an elf rogue just in case the game is that anal...
I've tried running in compat mode just to be sure, as well as turning off cutscene options in config tool, playing with resolutions between max and min as well as playing with all graphics settings between max and min. Run on-board sound so can't see it being a sound confliction (especially since the sound keeps playing).
Because you will need them my specs are as follows:
X4 motherboard
nVidia GTX 295
12 gig of ram (ddr3 if thats relevant)
i7 950 intel processor (3.07gig i think)
Vista x64 (the devil itself)
noticed your having similar issues TrinaryOuroboros, how did that 2nd level ticket go?
Anyone have any ideas?
Forgot to mention that I have also tried setting core affinty as per post above but unfortunately it didn't work

directx 9.0c
found this in system information, maybe helpful? this was from another crash.
application error: faulting application: daorgins.exe, version 1.3.11253.0, fault address 0x0044eef3.
and another time it reported the same only difference was 0x0040efda...
also installed newest nvidia drivers just to see if any improvement. but no... same problem. 197.45 is the newst nvidia driver that I have.
Basically the game suddenly hangs up in dialog or when moving around or in combat. Sometimes only freezing forever. To solve this it is possible after 4-5 minutes to alt+tab back to desktop and quit Dao, but other times the computer must be reset. Lately the game hangs/freezes after a few minutes of gameplay - normally the screen freezes, and then the screen if filled with a color, then slowly it seems to be rebuilding the whole textures and layers in the game from ground, adding more textures and finally effects and glow before restoring game control back to me. This takes 5-10 minutes... And happens so many times now that the game gets unplayable...
Also I've noticed strange graphic and pixel errors like discolored pixels and the picture flickering at times. The pixel anomaly (green pixels appearing) have been there since the start I think (when I started the game). I've also noticed that another game hangs from steam - Left 4 dead 2/l4d2. Maybe there is some connection?
Help anyone?! I find no FAQ that resolves this issue....
