1175 is the maximum, including damage passives.

Edit: yeah, I'd much prefer invincibility/damage reduction frames over range.  Having both would make it way OP.



I think a small boost, to 3M (currently 2.25) would be fine.  It'd be no more OP than Warp + Throw.  Now if it got the 5M boost I've seen suggested...then yeah.  that's just...bad.

the range would not be such a problem, but the time that it takes for the animation is. Any foe you get that close on gold (except maybe the bosses which are slow on turning) will blast you in pieces before the animation ends.

Wow, a lot happened while I was sleeping. So much to reply to. All I can really say is that if they made the range decent, like a base range of 5m and then the extra 2.5m from the upgrade, the shorter animation and damage resistance really wouldn't be necessary.

Let's look at the vorchas flamer ability for a second. I've heard it goes through walls as well, the vorcha has amazing resilience and regen, yet people still have issues with having to be so close for so long.

Smash, you have to be even closer and with a character that doesn't have anywhere near the resilience nor regen capabilities.

It may have seemed that way because the range is so short. It may not have made it through the wall and to the enemy.

There have been many times, when I'm thinking I'm way too close to these enemies, but then I use smash and I'm not close enough.

I think it's damage is fine.  It does...what, nearly 1200 when maxed?  That's...a LOT.

Can't they change each classes power attributes individually? It would make the most sense. Give the smash DR and/or seperate cooldown on the CV and increased range on the CA. Seems that would be the most logical solution.

The range caan actually be increased to 2.25 m. Enough for vanguard, rediculous for adept.

While a range boost couldn't hurt, I haven't had any issues with it thus far (only tested on Silver). Using it for BEs after Lash is key unless you're fighting basic troopers, but I found I could get in close with Brutes and come out on top with no trouble, alone.

Phoenix in general is also INCREDIBLY effective against Phantoms, arguably even better than the Batarians and Asari.

You Lash them first. Yes, it will most likely take 3 casts between the block and the dodge, though if you're close enough when they block you can fire up Smash and hit them with it as soon as they turn off the block.
Stasis is still better though.

It either needs more range... or what I would prefer would be for a damage resistance increase to the animation (like the batarian heavy melee).

I don't see how people are successful with smash on the vanguard. Maybe I'm too used to novaguard, but I don't like having my cooldown occupied by another ability, I want it free for charge. If I charge a group, I don't want to have to sit there and hide until my cooldown is ready to use smash, I want to kill them and charge another group of enemies. Smash just gets in the way.

Charge, Heavy melee, smash, heavy melee, smash....

Also Talon pistol is fantastic.

It's awesome, but so far I've found that it pretty much requires you to use it when your target is:
A:stunned/staggered and almost dead (or stripped of shields)
B:around a corner or on the other side of a wall/cover.
C:not targeting you

I don't know if this helps anyone but you can jump/heavy melee to cancel out part of the animation that leaves you as a sitting duck. A range boost would be nice maybe 3-5 meters? what about some invincibility frames or smaller launch window?

I think a base of 5m and the 50% increase to bring it to 7.5m (just like flamer) would be just right.  It's still very short range but makes it much less situational.

Not a issue with a Carni and eviscerator i can literally spam it just find a doorway with multiple enemies and whack away slap a brute roll around it rinse and repeat... works against banshes and pyros and primes.. a rlly good power usefull and Fun as hell... u dont get to moan about that one sorry....(P.S. Im talking about gold)...

It does massive damage when specced for it so there needs to be a trade off. Or else it would be OP as heck since each one does like 4 bars of damage to banshees on goldwithout a biotic explosion.

Being within shotgun range of a Banshee is enough for you to be insta-killed. It needs a buff.

I agree with you, but it does go through walls.  They need to extend the range to at least 5 meters by default and 7.5 levelled up.
