It is balanced. It has NO range and a tiny clip. In return you are allowed to go all emperor palpatine on people's asses.

Its balanced by its very short range, the way it burns through ammo and the fact it leaves you exposed trying to use it.

Not really. You can stunlock 2 Geth hunters and 2 Pyros and spit in their face without taking any damage. The Vorcha flamer is total crap compared to this electric fry machine of doom.

So what's everyone's experience with the Reegar?

It melts phantoms down (and Atlas, Brutes, Geths of any kind, even Banshees). I love it, even though I only have the level I one.

Was playing immediatly after getting it yesterday, in silver, when a guy asked "So guys, how are the new weapons". Then he saw me melting down half a million cerberus soldiers and said "Okay, op I guess ?"

Agreed with the original post. This weapon is clearly broken. That said, I find it super boring to use, so it does not bother me as I am not gonna use it anyway.

though I respect your opinion and reasons. I disagree on this

The Carbine may be OP for some. But playing with the Krogan Battlemaster on Gold is very difficult for some (like me) since my play style is CQC.  And this is mainly what the KV is for. Silver maps are much easier to play as this character. But for Gold is hard unless you have a weapon that can take enemies ie Reapers down quickly. I find this the best weapons for: Reapers on Gold for KV

Plus i see the balance is in it's shortage of ammo supply. evne with the lvl 5 spare ammo - it goes quickly.
And also, it's disadvantage that you have to be close to Enemies (Reapers) to take them down. Brutes and Banshees easily can Instant Kill .Ceberus Phantoms Instant Kill

IMO that's where the balance lies in. It's Very Powerful but also Very Risky

but that's just my thoughts on it now. I'm still learning the ropes on Gold, but this is what I see with it

Just my thoughts so far

IMO, its balanced. Its powerful, but as many many people have stated:

Limited range
Limited ammo
Stream only lasts a few seconds before reload
Eats ammo like nobody's business

If you're farming FB, then yeah, it's OP'ed. In non farming games, I find that I am always running low on ammo.

Yeah, some of the people I play with already have it at level 10, whereas mine is only 4 or 5, but I have the new sniper at 10.  You have much better short/long range mob control with a setup like this.

These weapons are designed for silver and gold matches, plain and simple.  In Bronze, its quite fun simply because of the mess you make.

Its low range and low clip size make it perfectly balanced.

This.  Was playing Geth.  The guy using it would mow down everything before I could touch it.  In the time it took my phoenixguard to wind up a smash, he'd have melted the two hunters and pyro I was about to try to smash.  It's just silly.

Well, half the problem is that you were using smash. But yes, I feel you.

Synergizes so well with the vorcha flamethrower. I was laughing like a maniac.

Don't really get this comment. Synergize means works well with. You can fire your gun, or the power. Seems like "redundant" is the word you were looking for.

Not sure whats so hard to understand about it. Both are meant for short ranges. Reegar melts shields and barriers like butter, but is somewhat weak to armor, you can use the shredder mod to compensate. Flamer can be used instead to help handle armored targets. Redundant isn't the word, since the reegar and flamer are meant to be used for different kinds of targets. Unless fire damage is now great against shields and barriers...

Gonna have to disagree with you. As others have pointed out, it has its flaws. It is powerful though.

Weren't you recently stating that the gun would be weaksauce since its the shotgun version of the arc pistol before we all had a chance to see how powerful it can be? lol, the irony

I thing it is fine as it is now, yes it is extremely powerful, but it have realty limited ammo capacity, and its range limit is really crippling.

Soloed Gold this morning. QI vs Geth on Reactor. Reegar is insane! I love it. Out of cloak it melts EVERYTHING!

The weapons is just built for CQC Infiltrators and Vanguards.  Works on Vorcha and Batarians too :P

For me this "shotgun" is the worst damn weapon in the game. It's even worse than the N7 Eagle. The range is point blank meaning you're basically dead just to use it. The ammo depletes in seconds. It sucks!!! Worst god damn gun ever!

It's the best shotty ever. With Claymore that is. Cloak, sneak up on someone - let it rip. Profit! :o

With Claymore you have to aim and if you miss - you are punished hard, but with this you are just Ghostbusting through everything! I got killstreaks with it!

OT: I tried it last night just for kicks, and thinking about it, along with unlocking another level, I have decided to relevel my Phoenix Vanguard to use this beast. Low ammo won't be an issue, I just need a point-blank no-aim facemelter for a second before I can Smash or Charge again. THinking of dropping Lash for max Fitness. (Derp, stupid me)

This, I tried it on gold with a SE on FBJ....I regret it, yep it melts phantoms even faster than a Geth melee, but you have to hunt down you targets and against an Atlas shooting you from the other side of the map, you can't do anything

The weapon is balanced. You sacrifice range for power. They do not need to Nerf this weapon.

Yeah, but for classes that are built for CQC it insanely good and doesn't require any skill to use effectively.

Vanguard --> Charges and restores his shields -> melts 3 enemies in 1 second --> charges away restoring his shields.

Unkillable!

I tried the Reegar last night on my Batarian Sentinel. Agree with what I'm hearing here:

Amazing damage in close quarters
Runs out of ammo quick, and leaves you helpless while you reload
Range is terrible- this is almost a melee weapon

So the answers should be to carry it on a melee character to zap shields on things that will take more than one punch to die, and carry a back up weapon for those rare times when you have to camp. Also, I was solo'ing a package retrieval objective wave with this, and it sucked hard to not be able to hit any of those far-off Geth that were shooting me the whole time.

Ammo and Range are major issues with it though. It's VERY handy on a Kroguard, but otherwise? Maybe a GI.

Exactly. People who aren't used to playing CQC think its range is a drawback. But those who are used to brawling don't even consider distance and can instantly see its power.

Think about the low-tier shotguns (katana, scimitar, eviscerator), they have very little range and no power. So again, how is this balanced? Not that I'm asking for a nerf, but perhaps a buff to the other shotties.
