I've downloaded the new DLC, but for some reason ME3 says I have to update the game. When it tries to update it just get stuck at the Preparing... status. I've restarted Origin, my computer, and everything else.

I am logged in as an administrator.

My ME3 update is stuck in the "paused" state. If I try to force it to resume, I receive this delightful message:

"An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again in a few moments. Error: 123"

I suppose I'd really be upset if it was an expected error instead.

Solved my Error 123 problem (thanks to a post I found regarding exactly the same issue with Battlefield 3 - way to go EA). The following file needs to have its read-only flag cleared:
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Support\\EA Help\\en-us\\Electronic_Arts_Technical_Support.glo

I get the "Mass Effect 3 servers are not unavailable." when I try to play without the update. I tried clearing the 0kb file from read only, but it was already unchecked.

I also cant seem to do an Uninstall or Repair Install. Origin just stays blank. I think the DLC broke the installation somehow. Was I suppose to update ME3, then download the DLC?

Need some official help, live chat support just keeps telling me to do a repair install. WHICH DOES NOT EVEN WORK.

PS: I tried the suggestion on top does not work either.

That's what I did of course. The game works fine, but it's still version 1.02. Origin cannot seem to download the patch at all. Just stuck at preparing, or Checking for updates.

Also maybe it was because there were a huge lot of people trying to dl at the same time ?
I figure it is like a water pipe more you connect other pipe on the lower the debit will drop since less water in?

Cause  yesterday I  got this   impression  the   installation  was stuck and   when I decided to restart my computer  it   marked   ready lol

I accidently hidden the file .glo and now can't find it to make that adjustment. Does anyone know how to retrieve it?

I'm having this error with the "must be logged in as administrator" problem. Had it since last night and I can't get my game updated now to play it. I was REALLY looking forward to killing things after an international flight, too. Accursed Origin

Prior to finding the post about the read-only file, I was using Process Monitor (www.sysinternals.com) to see what Origin was doing when the update failed. It's kind of tricky to use, but would have led me to the same solution. You might want to see where you can get with it.

Hint: filter to include Origin.exe, or you'll get a few million entries real quick.

From the explorer window, either Organize > Folder and Search Options, or Tools > Folder Options, depending on your version of Windows and theme. View tab, choose "Show hidden files and folders."

That worked for me too. I tried lots of things but never thought this could be a solution, so funny... With Origin you must always do some tricky install, never easy... I also spoke with Origin live chat and let them know this solution because I heard lots of people have same issue about patch installing...

Anyway, thank you very much.

That file isn't Read Only for me, and Origin's been "checking for updates" for ME3 for about half an hour now...
