Tali has been in just as many if not more suicide missions than Shepard over all three games.

Her squad getting killed in ME2 is on account of her poor leadership skills. At least she made Admiral though.

Wait how that'd happen again?

She's apparently an expert on geth. Even then when she warns her people to stand down or be obliterated they just tell her to STFU.

The truth of the matter is that the American culture is more innovative and has a harder drive to develop technology then the Iraqi culture.  That's why in America the average person no longer lives in mud buildings.

Does this sound a lot like racism to anyone else?

More like truth.  I didn't say Iraqis were lesser people for living in mud-built buildings.  Just that they see less merit in trying to develop sturdier structures.

Execpt the humans are equal to the Council races when they are just beginning to enter the galactic stage, while other races which have been around for much longer, such as the batarians are weaker than the humans.

Equal? It took their entire fleet to beat back a fraction of the Turian Navy. The Turians also had a decent technological edge, but they had reached the 'stagnation point' of this cycle, so they didn't keep that distance.

As for the Batarians, that's an economic problem steming from isolation and generally being abrasive

That was at first contact. Now humanity has become one of the top four races in the galaxy, stronger than the batarians who have been around much longer. Liara was born before the humans were on the council, and they have an equal say in galactic affairs as her race, which has been at the Citadel since before Christ.

The point he was making was that technological advancement has as much to do with culture as it does with ability.

Take an Iraqis and Americans.  They are both of humanity, so it stands that they should be technologically on par with one another, correct?  The truth of the matter is that the American culture is more innovative and has a harder drive to develop technology then the Iraqi culture.  That's why in America the average person no longer lives in mud buildings.

And my counterpoint is that the Galactic Society has stagnated innovation wise, where as we (both Americans and Iraqis) are still advancing so the tech gap stays

Edit: typo

The pont is that Iraq if it tried to become as advanced as America wouldn't be able to do so in 30 years.

The Europeans and Americans despite having made contact with all nations around the world have retained to this day their technological advantages over the rest of the world for over 500 years, even if this does not remain true for much longer. And we're all humans.

It is absurd that humanity could become stronger than other races who have become well versed in advanced technology for hundreds if not thousands of years in a mere 30 years.

Because Eurpe and America are still inventing and advancing, while the galactic society in Mass Effect is not.

Edit: you seem to be ignoring the parts where I say that it's possible if the more advanced part STOPS ADVANCING.

Humans after the first contact war have found themselves in a place where they were less technologically advanced then the rest of the galaxy.  We (in the game) have a culture that promotes working hard on technological development, and by the time ME roles around we have "caught" up with everyone - we are no more or less technologically advanced then the others.

Unlike the other races, however, we do not have a culture that is placated by being "on par".  Hence why humanity is the leading front for new biotics advancements (Binary Helix), and why we are capable of continuing to innovate our ship designs (with IES sytems and Tantalus Drive Cores)

And that is because shifting their cultural view to be similar to ours does not make them more capable then we are.  They are still limited by ability.  We could expect them, however, to reach the same technological level in about the same amount of time that it took America to reach that point.

Apparently, humans are more driven/capable then the other council species.  This is proven by our ability to match technological advancement in a relatively shorter amount of time.

So apparently the reason that countries like Iran and China are not as advanced as the United States is because their cultures dont want it enough.

Or Russia wasn't as advanced as Western Europe for hundreds of years despite several Westernizing initiatives because their cultures didn't want it enough.

Okay. You guys said it.

Then what's the big deal about the Asari holding back the Prothean relic? Since everyone has the same level of technology, that sort of thing shouldn't really matter, right?

The big deal is that they were given that technology and information to prepare so that when the Reapers arrived, that they wouldn't become totally decimated.

And instead, they chose to use it to stay just slightly ahead of the technological curve without having to actually think hard.  Culture fail.
