Before I saw this thread, I thought lag had just discouraged people from playing. I'm N7 892 atm, and I usually host. Ever since the patch this morning, I've noticed it takes a long time (5-10mins) to get people into my lobby, and even then, it's usually one person. Their ranks have so far ALL been within the 800 range. I up an gave up trying to play with randoms; I was fortunate enough that three of my pals were online and having a hard time finding full lobbies, but you know, sometimes your friends just aren't available. What happens then?

I miss the pre-DLC/patch game... Even though it had its share of glitches, it ran far smoother than this mess. I don't know how much longer I can stay optimistic about the dev team fixing their mistakes.

I've only noticed that it takes longer for me to find a match...

I would have to agree about the matchmaking system. It took me around 15-30 minutes just to get a game for GOLD together. And that's when I thought something was going on. And then everyone being within the N7 400 ranking made it even more obvious. I've been playing FPS games with a matchmaking system for a while now, and it becomes pretty obvious when a game adds one.

It needs to be removed, as this is slowing down game creation time for everyone. I only have about 20 friends on XBL, so I don't always have people on that want to play a game with me. And only 5 of them play ME3 anyway.

Anyone bold enough to PM/email someone official about it?

Now this is something... I just entered a match with one other 800 lvl guy (it was taking way too long for anyone else to join, so we decided to two-man it). Halfway in, two other players join. The match just ended, and in the lobby, I could see their ranks. Yeah, you guessed it; they were in the 800 range.

Who on earth thought matchmaking would be a good idea?

Similar situation me and a friend played for about 3 hours he's n7 684 and I'm 360 in the entire time we had 2 people join both in the high 400s one of them joined 3 times.

I've had the same thing. I mentioned this to my sister and her response was: that's funny I was wondering why all my matches were people with my N7 rating. We played a match together her N7 is 87 and mine is 550. The two people that joined us were both in the 300 range. I like the concept of this idea if it is eventually confirmed by bioware , but not at the cost of longer wait times for games.

So the million dollar question is: what's the most common N7 rating ? It sounds like people should promote ASAP to reach it, then refrain from promoting again to reduce wait times

Another guy just joined in the 800 range...

I don't like this concept. I like playing with a variety of N7 ranked players. I can be a mentor to the newer players and learn a lot from the vets.

Hey, Bioware: ever hear of the age old adage of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"? There are some things you need to fix, like the lags and glitches, and other things you need to leave alone, like the randoms in lobbies.

There is no way this is a coincidence! I keep opening and entering lobbies with people around my N7 rank! That's it! I'm not playing anymore...

It's impossible to get a full lobby, and it takes too long to even get ONE player. I want to play with a team, not just one other person.

if it was optional, a filter I can choose when I'm doing the lobby, then it would be a good idea.

Dropping a message on Chris now.

EDIT: Message sent. It reads as follows.

"What's going on Chris?

A lot of us in the community are noticing that the matchmaking system is matching us with N7 Levels similar to our own after the patch.

We're not happy about it. It's taking forever to get games going on MP now. Nobody in the higher levels can get a full lobby anymore.

This is a very serious problem and we're very concerned about it. Can you help us understand what's going on?"

I ALWAYS host lobbies. People would join instantly. Since the update, no one joins. Not a single person.

Well, keep in mind, the game is probably matching version numbers with lobbies.
For instance, if you have rebellion, you're not going to join a match with players that don't have rebellion, and vice versa.
Also, they released a patch that same day, and the same rules would apply to that.
I assume that not everyone who plays multiplayer would have both patched and installed the DLC.

You can't play games online without downloading the patch on consoles.

Noticed this too. Takes forever to get a match started and joiners have a similar N7 level to me. I really hope I'm just imagining it. Bioware wouldn't really make a change this ridiculous... would they?

They are reading the forums, no need to flood their inbox, please don't, just link them to this thread.

This is the one problem that has effected me negativly the most, I was very excited to play and try out all the new rebellion stuff, but being unable to host properly and having some bad luck with the people I joined, I really felt like ugh.

I had some great games today though, so its ok. :)

This would make sense if everyone in here had mixed N7 numbers, and not just numbers within their range. You can't honestly believe that only N7 800 players have downloaded Rebellion and the new patch. 800 is my number; I've seen others here with varying ranks who have experienced the same phenomenon. It's too much of a coincidence to say it's just a compatibility issue.
