Some other recent changes were pretty bad (no headshots, murdered the noble Kishock, indirect infiltrator buffs, indirect grenadier nerfs, no time between waves to regroup, unbalanced additions), but if this one is true... that just takes the cake. Matching based on N7 level could be a dealbreaker for public MP.
Agreed. Though I'm happy we got new characters and such, I can't say I've been pleased with some of the changes. I've been queueing up for random silver matches for over half an hour now and still nothing. Oy. Saving up for the upcoming rebellion packs is going to take longer than expected...

OP makes excellent points. If intentional this is a terrible idea and needs to be fixed. Like right now.

I'm sitting there with my N7 2500 ass for some 60 minutes with a public UUG game and not one single soul has joined. This NEVER happened before the patch and people NEVER complained about playing with me.
If you're on PC, you could add me. My N7 is 218, maybe if I lower the lobby average with my low-ranking self we could both find players faster?

That's awesome news, Scylla. It's good know you guys are listening and taking our complaints into account. The game has become horrendously troublesome and boring to play now that it takes too long to form a team.
Edit: I also want to reiterate that I never had a problem playing with people of a lower rank than me, and I'm sure most of the others in the community feel the same way. As it's been mentioned so many times before, rank doesn't equate skill. We don't judge books by covers here.

As many people have stated here, the change has made making lobbies and matches extremely slow and counter-productive to gameplay. I sincerely hope the changes are rolled back.
PD: So much for the "Placebo" and "Doesn't exist" or "You're crazy" posts eh?

N7 does not equate skill. If you got a ton of character cards from farming and leveled up, is thast skill?
It took me a couple of hours last day to get a good team :/

We implemented this week some changes to our matchmaking system. After hearing the feedback from our community we are discussing internally if these changes should be rolled back.
What gets me is, they obviously had internal discussions to approve and introduce it. It shows what a disconnect Teh Powers That Be have with the community in the first place... You think you'd look at competitors products and see what works, what dosent, what players like, what they don't, and use those for the best experience in yours.
I pity the poor mouthpieces that have no say, but just pass information back and forth, because if it's anything like my company it's a thankless task trying to explain to decision-makers concepts they don't understand, while hard working developers slave in cubicles to implement said poorly thought out decisions. If its anything lliked my company

Actually, it shows that they pay attention and are trying to do something to make the experience better. There have always been people complaining about getting matched with low N7 players here, and some few people even support the matchmaker. Looking at the forums, it would have seemed a good idea, the only problem is that most people against it spoke up only after it was implemented.Stinja wrote...

If they change it so it's an option you can set and refine it a bit, it could be an addition that makes players happy.

Yep, it's a real kicker to be dropped into a gold game with a character made for bronze without any equipmentUKStory135 wrote...
I'm playing with more 500 level characters, but I've also been thrown into them middle gold games when I set my game search to be either silver or bronze.

I'm French, & I always host my lobby ( Falcon HSo
Today, I tried to host a silver lobby. After 10 min, a guy came to the lobby, quit, re-came, we launched the match, on guy joined in-game. Yeah, it's a cool story. But, the waiting for every lobby except FBWGG takes 10min+ to fill !
Actually, the matchmaker incite me to FBWGG ( tried once before, hated it), just to play ME3, & not to wait 10 min for a miserable match with N7 600~ ( who sometimes only know how to sit behind The One Desk To Farm Them All !)
Sorry Bioware, nice try but wrong try. I'm sure you will fix it. & offthread : Reegar

I've never had a problem with playing with people with any level of N7, as long as the character was an appropriate level (but even then, a team of 4 can do a lot).
