I've been trying for the past week to write a Mass Effect fanfiction. Its not a self-insert persay so much as, I have my Female AND Male Shepard running in parrallel. M! Is a Vanguard and F! is an infiltrator.
I have the first prologue planned but I lack the motivation to sit down and write it. Does anyone have an useful tidbits or advice that can assist me? Or is it simply a matter of having to force myself to work through the laziness through sheer willpower?
I require a small amount of help

I have the same problem all the time. Get all these ideas, work some of the outline out, then just don't want to write the darned thing anymore. I use two ways to get rid of it:
a) If I have to write a certain chapter but don't want to, I focus on planning out the rest of the story. When I see the bigger picture I get an idea of where I want to take it, and it gets me motivated enough to start writing it.
Do whatever you do for inspiration. Personally, I'll get off my computer and listen to music, sometimes do some baking. That little break from thinking about the story gives me a fresh start when I get back to writing. When I'm really stuck I'll actually go play Mass Effect, and load a game around the time the story is set, to get the inspiration for the chapter or story going again.
I posted the same question on the fanfic writer's support thread, around page three if I remember correctly. Give it a look and you'll see replies from other people which could be of help
