I'm not sure I understand your point here. Golems have no blood or anything remotely fleshy, period. I don't see how that compares to a vial literally filled with blood.

And speaking of blood, why wasn't Avexis affected by drinking so much dragon blood? That stuff makes you insane and violent.

Maybe cause she's young, and the Dragon worshipers in DA:O did it (drank Dragon Blood) their whole lives?Размещенное изображение

Just exactly how were the golems forged on the anvil?  If they asked for volunteers, they had to bind them someway to the golem bodies that they would inhabit.  Smells like blood magic to me.

If I remember right the Dwarfs were placed on the anvil, the golem was hammered around them and then liquid lerium was poured in the golem. There is blood and pain, strong emotion(Fear!)involved in making a golem.

Well to be blunt, I did not like it at all. The choice of animation was not my cup of tea. I am not a fan of anime and to use this style for Dragon Age well it just was not the right way to go. If it were anything other than Dragon Age, I would have not watched it. As for the story, I was interested at the start but as it went on, I became less interested. My reaction when it was over was “WTF did I just watch?”

I thought the animation was solid. The story was clunky. But the characters were a bit corny and some of the scenes were pretty awkward. Story was paced to fast, and you didn't really get a feel for the world. But the fights were pretty gorgeous. In particular the Super Pride Demon vs the High Dragon

Surprised to find out that Piccolo is the knightcommander

I thought it was some sort of prequel or something. In DA 2 she looks like she could be in her mid 30s or so. In the movie she looks like she could be in her mid 20s. But when the one guy mentioned the Kirkwall incident I was kind of taken by suprise.

This caught me too, though I remembered that the framed narrative has the interrogation taking place possibly some time after the actual events of Kirkwall.

Note: I wouldn't read too much into the perceived age based on the art style, because FUNimation had their own take on the art style based upon the genre and whatever other creative licenses they felt like using.

Though I did find it kind of neat seeing the DA stuff in game and recognizing it.

It wasn't just the art style that made her feel much younger and less mature, but her mannerisms as well.  In the movie she was emotional, impulsive, and often rash.  In DA 2 she is very in control of her emotions and she is more deliberate in her approach and questioning of Varric.  Now I know that she is interrogating Varric about 3 years (correct me if I am wrong) after the events of Act 3.  But that is still a relatively short amount of time post act 3 (since the movie seems to take place shortly post act 3.

Later on, certainly, but she's very aggressive when the interrogation begins. She stabs that book while it's lying in Varric's lap!  She coulda stabbed him in the junk if she wasn't careful.

I took that as a deliberately calculated part of her interrogation strategy rather than reflective of genuine anger.

Sort of Good Cop/Bad Cop but without the Good Cop.

That might have been the case, but now I wonder if Cassandra just isn't hot-blooded.

Somebody check her temperature and see if she's got a fever of 103. :P

Can't find a region C (or region-free) blu-ray with this. No region 5 DVDs too. Looks like I'll have to pirate it to watch, which is unfortunate. I will likely not bother to watch it at all as it stands now.
Especially since people say there's no new lore info.

I went in expecting 90 minutes of light entertainment. I got 90 minutes of light entertainment. I expected gravity-defying acrobatics and improbable capers, and the movie delivered. It was billed as anime, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was actually a story behind it, however trite. Although, yes, "my family was killed by mages" is getting a little stale. I'm willing to bet that the leading cause of fatality in Thedas is not "death by blood mage," but you'd never know it.

The only part that had me rolling my eyes (believe it or not) was Avexis's apparent narcolepsy. That kid falls asleep at the weirdest times. She's going to be trouble in a few years.

so it sounds like there is a lot of blood (all of it) in making a golem.  So you can control golems through blood magic.  Your honor, I rest my case.

The elf girl in the trailers is what turned me off even watching this film :<. I'm sick to death of the Japanese making the "elf" girls these sweet and innocent looking little girls >.>...

If the Japanese make the girls strong and independant is the day I'll watch and enjoy a Japanese cartoon.

But for that you need at least a female Japanese writer, no doubt Dawn of the Seeker was written by a chauvinistic Japanese man >.<.

It would also be nice to see an evil guy who was fully in control of themselves but was absolutely crazy. A sociopath villain would be a nice change in the DA world :<.

This thread is awesome though :), I'm glad I didn't buy this cartoon.

Do we have any idea if and when it will be released in Europe? The imports on Amazon.co.uk are charging an absolute fortune for it. :crying:

The irony of that statement is that shojou is much worse than shonen when it comes to that and most shojou is written by women.

Should have been the 29th. Ended up watching it in Japanese because copyright of foreign language stuff is a bit of a grey area.

Amazon us sell it not too expensive (15 dollar , half price actually , dvd /blu ray pack or something)
The lowest shipping price is like 2 dollar if you're patient ( 2/3 weeks to wait) .So it's around 17 dollar.
For having it in less than a week it's more than 30 dollar (shipping thing is half the price :s).
I have no idea if it ever be up in Europe amazon, it's not up in french amazon not even as import ...
Haven't heard of any europe release date either.

I think it's just silly, IMO.

The editing on this is just... bad. We've have scenes of the Grand Cleric and the Divine talking, which just gives the whole thing away. Then, there's Cassandra who seems to gain SUPERPOWERS whenever she's duel-wielding 2 large swords but without them, she just a normal human being. Then, she's going back and forth between "I don't like mages" to "Okay, I'll be mindful of mages". When she's telling Galyan to GTFO, it's inconsistent when she just freed him of his binds. It needs to be a progression in one direction, not going back and forth.

As for Cassandra, I think she's just mean. She's just a rather generic tough woman with mage issues and prone to violence. If Bioware's setting her up to be a companion, I'd be off put by her. She has a very narrow view (which I don't believe changes by the movie's end) and is a rather aggressive jerk. To me, Galyen, who's supposed to be her foil, is a much more engaging character in how he still wants to be loyal to the Circle, even after given ample opportunity.

I like the voice actors, and I think Colleen did as best she could trying to hold an Orlesian accent the whole time, but in the end, I think this movie was silly and entertaining in a humorous B-movie way.

@Burnouts3s3: Yeah, I would definitely not mind seeing Galyan again. Possibly as a companion. I wonder if he made it to the Andoral's Reach after the events of Asunder.

Edit: Fixed the spelling of Galyan's name.

Cassandra is also very agressive in dragon age II.
I actually think they caught this character pretty well in the movie
Unlike Evangeline in Asunder, she genuinely just does not like the mages.
