I watched a trailer and I am not impressed.

If I were to waste my time watching a movie about a game I had played... then I would want Sacred Ashes trailer quality.

Just in case you forgot....

I went into expecting it to be good story, but poor quality art and animation.

For the most part, the animation was good - some scenes its was just terrible, though.

The thing that bothered me the most about the whole thing is how enviornments/monsters were in a photo-realistic style, but the characters were all anime/toon-shaded. They should have just kept everything in the same style.

Otherwise, the story was fun and interesting. I would recommend watching it.

I'm kinda confused....you do know that Dawn of the Seeker isn't about any Dragon Age game in particular game right? It just adds more backstory to Cassandra. Not quite sure why you think that...

The mages just standing around watching each other get sliced in half before running up to Cassandra's blade for their turn made me laugh pretty hard...and then I got angry over how stupid it was...and then that's the only thing I could think of for the rest of the movie, lol...

It was horrendous. Acting was also terrible.

I thought it was an alright film. The animation was neat for me. The plot was simple, but DA:O would also have a simple plot if translated into a 90 minute film. It was nice to see some Chantry big fish. I thought the red-haired mage guy was an intriguing character, I would rather have him as a companion than Galyan.

Edit: If they do make it to companions in DA3, Cassandra and Galyan would be neat as a couple, like Jaheira and Khalid were in BG :3

Uhm.

It was nice to see something of the DA universe on screen, and I appreciate the effort.

That said, the writing was awful.

Cassandra came off as a intelectually limited one-dimensional bully. I actially disliked her.
The main antagonist was a complete joke.
Knight-commander was predictable as hell.
The whole story was just... Cliche and unimaginative and predictable.

Acting was "meh":

All in all, nothing to write home about, but in a world where Diablo 3 sells 10 million copies, it's not terrible.
Just... Not good.

I thought the dragons flied weirdly. Was like they were swimming on molasses not flying. Galyan as a bit too Disney Heart-rob for me. Was half expecting him calling Cassandra "Ariel" and she starting to sing :P

But was nice to see the DA world in anime. Most of the stuff was very well done. I really loved the plaza, the hill with that informant's hideaway, the armors / weapons, etc..

That drove me crazy on WoW Cataclysm beta a few years ago. Water was realistic and photo quality and the land, npc and monsters were all cartoony.. UGH!

I've just seen the anime. That was really awful, horrible. I'm glad I didn't pay for it and I'm sorry for those who did. Really.

Knight-commander was predictable as hell.

Agreed with everything you said. I still like Cassandra, but I wonder if I would think the same if she was a male character ...

Now, two things I didn't understand. Since when mages can teleport anywhere ?

And why the hell the mages didn't throw spells and didn't use magic while they fought against their enemies ?

I did not care for Cassandra's VA in this. Also the acting was terrible, it felt like a bad dub job with everyone rushing through their lines.

dumbest anime ever.

mages not using magic but staffs to fight? check

dull, cliche fested character? check

typical antagonist? check

protagonist with a plot armor slaughtering a few dragons by herself? check

**** I'm not even gonna bother saying further. the anime is wrong in every possible way.

I suppose mind domination magic would work on anything that technically has a mind. I just never thought of it like that before.

Why it works on scores of golems and ogres but not on dragons is still a mystery to me though.

Because the plot says so. :P

haha. Bing! Размещенное изображение

This is explained in DAO when you talk to the Reaver guy who wants you to put the blood of andraste the dragon into the urn of sacred ashes.   Dragons have magic blood of their own.

I watched this anime 12 hours ago and heres my input.

First the anime was bad, but the story was good, but not great. The background was great, but the characters were poorly done. Not much was put into the effort to make this anime movie look flawlessness. If you're going to have almost perfect background why not put as much effort into making the characters look good? After all the viewers are going to be staring at the characters a lot more than the background.

Throughout the movie why didn't the Templars did not used their templar trained powers to dispel the manga of mages? Remember when the Knight-Commander, Cassandra and Regalyan were inside the cave? Regalyan Was casting spells while the Knight-Commander just stood around looking dumb? Shouldn't he had disable Regalyan's mana by smiting him? Whatever happen to that idea?

I give this anime 3 out of 5.

For those who haven't seen this, it is now on Hulu plus. It had a few issues but overall a nice bit of insight into Cassandra and Orlais.

Just watched it and it's difficult to recommend for anyone that take DA even semi-seriously.
If your going for mindless action that's DA themed then go for it otherwise it's just going to ****** you off.

Deciding to go with a thoroughly unlikeable lead character is a choice i can kinda respect, it's a break from the norm, the biggest problem i had with Cass however was the fact they seemed to have made her Thedas' only superhero; she runs 10 feet up a wall, back flips, takes down an ogre, the building they're in and the cliff it's on collapses, she survives with barely a scratch, takes down half a dozen more ogres and a couple of golems....frankly it's retarded.
There are possible inconsistencies in lore which are confusing, particularly templar's ability to nulify magic.
The details make up the whole, almost any work of fantasy or scifi you care to name that is most beloved and such a success is because of attention to the little things and dawn of the seeker seems to go out of it's way to ignore the details.
Was extremely disappointed.
