So I just had the lovely (read: not lovely at all) experience of having an objective wave where the goal was to bring the high priority package to the extraction zone. The lovely part about it was that one of the teammates I was playing with (random) happened to decide he/she just didn't want to score the objective until 0:01 and instead farm for experience. While this probably isn't strictly cheating persay, it does go quite against the spirit of the game and also happens to be extremely annoying <_<

And, because I hate whining without solutions, here are some possible fixes:
1) If the package is held without scoring for an extended period of time (e.g., Bronze you have 30 seconds, Silver you have 1:00, Gold you have 1:30) the character immediately drops it. If a team is actively attempting to bring the package back, those times are roughly enough for either the package to be scored or the player holding it to get downed/have to drop it because of enemies.

2) The package is automatically dropped every XX seconds. If possible, it could also be made in games with more than one person that the previous carrier cannot be the one to pick it up again (also could apply to above).

Both of these could be explained in-universe as the packages are too heavy to continually carry, and therefore must be dropped. Yes, while this will make it (slightly) harder for people that are still playing the game legitimately, it encourages teamwork and communication. Looking forward to what everybody else thinks.

If you are playing gold, just leave the area until your teammate goes down. This could work on other difficulties if they are bad.

Don't you get more experience for completing the objective quickly? I'm not seeing the point.

I think the random OP is talking about preferred to get a bunch of points from kills while the enemies keep respawning over and over again during the window to complete the objective. If that's the case... -__-

Who the hell actually bothers with xp farming in this game anyway? It's credits that are hard to come by, not xp.

You do get more XP for quick time completion than you ever could farming xp during the objective clock. Some people are just stupid ! I hate XP ****s!

Sometimes I think that playing with a lobby full of randoms goes against the spirit of the game. They tend to not be very cooperative-minded...

I haven't had to worry about this though since I found a cool players group about 6 weeks ago.

No you don't.

With the nature of the respawns you can get quite a few kills... especially if your character can drop enemies very quickly like GI.  They just keep popping out for you to kill, and unlike normal waves they don't expire as long as the clock is ticking.

Like it's said above though there really isn't a need for it.

Actually, I do as well as many of my friends since we never play with level 20 characters.  Because we do mostly gold, credits are relatively easy to come by.  ;)

To each their own, but in the end it helps to keep an open mind.

Curious, if you're carrying the package, does cloaking or using 'charge' as a vanguard drop the package?

Not sure about vanguards but cloak makes you drop it.

Some people have said that the heavy melee moves for krogan and vorcha will allow you to move faster though... haven't tried this myself.

Yes, using charge/cloak or even sprinting will immediately drop the package.

The only problem with the escort objective is that it's possible for someone to troll the team. They can pick it up and not return it, and then the team fails the mission. I've heard that it's possible to drop it at some bugged area (i.e. it falls off the map) or for the guy with the package to leave the game and then the team cannot win. With all the other objectives, the team can ignore the troll player that screws around.

In gold matches with package upcoming to transport, I ask my team to stay away from me and the package, like opposite point of the map, to get the enemies off my back, when they do this, its fine, when not, it becomes that known revive massacre panic :-D

The faster the items are delivered, the more time bonus credits it gives, thats for all objectives the case.

Cloak, sprint/run and biotic charge drops the package, you can still shoot, use powers and change weapon.

Often the a bit longer walkpath is the most secure, walking directly from package pick-up point to LZ is sometimes a bad idea.

To the OP and tonyng9 - yes I think BioWare should apply some time out, so if the package is picked up and character doesn´t move for 10-30 seconds package gets dropped. If any player leaves the game while carrying the package, the package has to appear/drop at the location where the player was when he left the game.

I don't ask the team to do this, but - no matter my class - I always sprint to the package and do the heavy lifting so that even if they want to "escort" me they have to fight to get to me (thus clearing at least a backup path).  If it's wave 10, I also arm the Cobra and take no chances with groups/bosses in front of me.

Bottom line:  I love the new objective.  If they don't include another new one in the next DLC, I'll consider it a huge failure.  The increased variety makes the game more fun and, so far at least, I haven't had a match with 3 identical objectives since the new one was added to the mix - that's a very good thing.

ETA:  I should note that using the Cobra too quickly backfired on me once on Jade when I blew up 2 Primes and 2 more spawned immediately right behind them.  Fun!
:D
