I've tried several configurations, and despite it being advertised that the patch fixes this in multi player, it doesn't. I'm using PC, and was trying various SMGs using an Asari Vanguard. If anyone wants to check my findings and post if any combinations of characters/SMG + ULM actually works as it should, please say

I still remember readin patch notes from Mass Effect 1 in which they said they fixed Garrus' blurry face, which they didn't. They later admitted that there was no way to fix that unless they released a 1GB patch. (Turns out that a simple config tweak can fix this.) BioWare still hasn't learned that writing about a fix does not automatically apply it.
The vanguard bug was also not fixed. In fact, the patch breaks more than it fixes.

No, it can't fix it completely. Only for a short distance. Check the cut-scene when you're leaving the Citadel for the first time. So Bioware was right about 1gb patch. Still, i don't understand why couldn't they release it "unofficially" ?
