I recently installed Windows 7 ultimate 64bit.
DA installed fine, i patched to the most recent patches.
But after aboout 45mins to an hour of play time my game crashes for no reason. this happens a lot.
I had no problems like this when i had 32bit Vista.
Anyone else have problems like this? and or solutions?

Did you mention this post in the Technical Section? It would be useful there.

I got a new machine with Windows 7-64 on it a few days ago. I'm having no problems running it.
Did you make sure to do updates to windows? How about mods?

I have been running DA:O on my Windows 7 64 Ultimate (bootcamped from a Macbook no less) for a while now with no issue.
That being said, I would suggest doing a full sweep of your windows 7 drivers for all your hardware (target the main culprits first, graphics, sound, motherboard, etc). I'm still using some older drivers, but you should try to get the latest windows 7 ones for your system.
Is the rest of your system stable?
Though one thing that gives me pause is when you say that the game actually runs fine for a while and then crashes. This could indicate a few things. If your entire system crashes (reboot) we could be looking at an overheating problem. Though if you just CTD, then some driver is obviously not playing well with your system.
Also make sure you have the latest DX downloaded. Ensure your windows 7 itself is up to date too.
Either way, good luck in the hunt for your solution!

Yeah it just crashes to the desktop and it asks me to close and "look" for a solution to the problem or just close the program, because my computer isnt telling me lol.
hmm i Have only a few mods. Dueling 2 2her weapons, but none of my characters atm are using that ability. and a shapeshifter mod but i just installed it and iv had the problem for a little while now.
My system is a few years old, Ill check the Directx thing and checking all my hardware drivers,
thanks.

What sort of peripherals are plugged into your PC? Are they even 64-bit compatible (if it matters)? BTW - at least for me, Win7 automatically found and installed all the hardware drivers for my system. I didn't have to do anything manually, except load the latest GPU driver. (On an older system I kept getting a BSOD. I wrote down the info and searched online. The culprit was a bad sound card driver either old or corrupted. I deleted the old driver and installed the new - voila - problem solved!)
Try unplugging everything you don't use during the game and then plug in everything one at a time for a little while to determine if your system fails. I know this takes some time, but if you aren't getting any other indication, then you need to troubleshoot in this not-too-technical fashion.
Also, as pointed out already, you may have a heat issue. Have you overclocked your CPU or GPU? Your GPU fan speed may need to be increased with a fan speed tool, whether it's overclocked or not. There are several free ones available online.
However, if you can get any more concrete data (or not) about what's going on, I'd advise you use the tech forum.

Running Win 7 x64 with no problems. Suggest you update graphics drivers for x64 compatibility and same for C+++ and NetFramework

check that you have the drivers for the motherboard for win7 and not the ones microsoft thinks you should use.
(and win7 ultimate 64 no problem)

Win7 Ultimate x64 with no probs - If I had to take a wild guess, it sounds like a video driver issue, especially if you are using nvidia and physx...

as far as i know i have the latest GPU drivers, dated at 11/20 this year. with directx11, how would i go about checking my motherboard drivers though? and yeah windows 7 updated all my drivers automatically, but like Merak said, might not be the right ones.
