 Everybody says Leliana is great and is one of the best companions. WHY?! Archery is nowhere near as great as magic. Zevran is a better melee fighter. Her goody-goody morale compass is annoying. The only thing she's good for is to pick locks, which Zevran can do after several levels after you get him. Don't get me wrong iv'e used her several times myself and she isn't awful. But why do people revere her as one of the best companions.

Well, at least for me, my other rogue choice (Zevran) has the nasty habit of dying every five seconds. Like Oghren and to an extent Wynne, he's a late-comer and comes pre-statted as something I can't work well with. If you build her right, Leliana can do a crapton of DPS with archery.

She's also cute. And fantasy-French.

Zevran can do it several levels after you get him? Leiliana can do it right then!

If you're playing a two-weapon rogue like I did, Zevran is largely redundant. Plus, Leliana gets bard songs.

im not saying shes bad, but zevran is so much better. his stealthing abilities help a ton. give hime alittle more strenth and constitution he doesn't die as much. he is great when he can backstab, his mark of death ability works wonders against bosses, and his cocky attitude is great. in my opinion, he is better than leliana in almost every way

Team-building involves a number of different aspects. There is the question of talents and skills. There is also the question of personalities. The beauty of DAO is that it allows a number of possibilities to work.

Personally, I like Leliana. I think her background story is very well-thought-out. She has a number of useful skills: lockpicking, trap disarming, archery, etc. Not that the other characters don't have useful attributes, but she often fits well with the team I prefer to build.

I usually don't spec rogues with combat in mind. That's what my mage and two warriors (or vice versa, if I'm going for a Storm Of The Century) are for.

In the first half of the game she is more usefu to me than Zevran since she can actualy pick locks. I have to level up Zevran before that is possible. Also since I can pick her up early it is easier to mold her build into what I need from her. She becomes a powerhouse archer for me.

Leliana is the perfect support character. She can open locks, deal with traps, and buff your party with Song of Courage. If you go dual daggers and micromanage her, she can do decent damage. If you go for bows instead, she'll mostly stay out of harm's way while doing mediocre damage but can help you out with the massively overpowered ability Scattershot.

I haven't really played a game where I didn't bring Leliana.
