Now now...the cloak and dagger style of fighting is actually pretty damned effective. But otherwise, yes, cloaks just get in the way when you fight.Rainen89 wrote...
Because capes never made any real sense as to why they were so integrated into lore. Cloaks were for when you got cold, nothing else.

That's just assassination though and even then it was usually made either as a feint or used as a distraction, it would work on maybe one darkspawn or humanoid but there's only so much you can do.

Actually, i would work well as a disarm technique. A heavy enough cloak would blunt the attack of a longsword and entangle it. Of course your cloak is all screwed up after a few uses of this technique.Rainen89 wrote...

A cloak would be nice for rogues. The hobbits wore cloaks that could camouflage them so maybe stealth bonus and a dex requirement.
Exactly they definitely should be the items that have the stats that rogues or mages would benefit from. Like for example if the cloaks were enchanted or something they could give you buffs like the way the mage hoods do and or attract less attention for your character. Also i definitely don't need them to look like all that realistic i mean its not as if the rest of the clothes in the game look flowing and life like either.

A year after then maybe bioware would implent them into the game, at least for me it seemed to be like that way with Neverwinter Nights.

Cloaks would not decrease people's notice of you.

and by the way, in strict RP sense, cloaks are very necessary. they were needed for the cold and the rain which our roving band definitely would have encountered a lot.

It's safer to just ignore them. Though I would agree that cloaks would be awesome, it's just not time for that.

Well the cloak would be more noticeable if it was a black one in the middle of a field like in the way it is portrayed in your picture but remember that most of the game is dungeon crawling in shadowy dungeouns. If you take that into consideration then the cloaks would definitely mak you less noticeable in those types of areas. Also if the cloak were a color that would blend in with lighter environments then you would obviously reap the same benefits. And sorry if i didnt make it clear but i meant that the enchantment on the cloak could make enemies less prone to attack you sort of the way those little magical items of jewelry sometimes offer the same advantage.
