If there are further Dragon Age games, the one thing to keep in mind is that a big benefit of sequels is that you can build on that foundation rather than building everything from scratch. People tend to forget that we haven't actually *done* a sequel since Baldur's Gate II (and the upcoming ME2, I suppose) -- working on a brand-new engine is a bit of hell, actually, a bit like trying to arrange your living room furniture while they're still building the house. I know everyone likes to compare DAO to BG2, but more properly it should be compared to BG1 -- BG2 had the benefit of building on the foundation that BG1 laid, and allowed us to work with an already-quantified engine and spend more time tweaking and expanding rather than simply building. I, for one, will be glad to go back to working under those conditions -- if a sequel does materialize, of course.Brockololly wrote...
We can just hope that since they've laid the foundation of the DA universe they can try and implement some of those desired bells and whistles in future DA games.
Mr. Gaider pls listen to me... WE NEED THAT SEQUEL. You(Bioware) are the only company that makes games with souls... We don't need games like Oblivion, Fallout 3 and other crap. We need emotions while playing the game and you're the only ones who are able to give them to us while playing. FFS I don't care for ****ing cloaks, I don't give a damn about horses, I don't mind somehow linear and small areas. We had those in other games and they didn't made them good. Why? Its because DRAGON AGE and other games you make are ART, not games for kids... You're not only the company that makes games... You're the artists ffs! You can't abandon Dragon Age, its your masterpiece...
Replace word "love" with "BIOWARE"...
I'm broken...
Much love...
I have no doubt Dragon Age has topped one million world wide by now; there will be a sequel. I would love for it to be in this engine as well. In fact, I would like a trilogy to be in this engine; that way we get more content. Then when Bioware decides to re-invent dragon age and set it centuries in the future or past; they can do it with a brand new engine that has been tested by other games.

It's like wondering if they're going to make another Call of Duty game. The answer is yes. Forever.

This.BioWare you're gonna be in bad if you don't make that sequel. We'll all be spending that time playing a sub-par RPG when we could be enjoying real quality.
I'm sorry that I can't express my feelings and thoughts very good since english is not my first language... But the quoted part is what I meant with my post. Thanks for refrazing it...
And about Davids sarcastic comment on the page 4 or 5... FFS grow up people.
And, BTW... This thread is complete troll...so:

And about Davids sarcastic comment on the page 4 or 5... FFS grow up people. So what if he wasn't so nice? He was annoyed by this thread, with a reason. Would you rather like him to pretend that he is not annoyed? I h8 people that pretend to be nice... He was genuine, learn to appretiate that... And he didn't insult anyone, he just replied to someone's post. And then people started analizing his character. David's bad, he's dick, he's being mean...blablabla... x) Cry somewhere else, you're acting like a bunch of kids... If you want respect, earn it... "I bought your game, you must respect me even if I'm telling stupid things". LOL at that mindset...

Wow. So... you mean that some people really like sarcasm?
I had no idea.
Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. If I had only known that there were people out there who think sarcasm is respectful, I might have talked to you like this sooner. My bad.

Yeah, those of you saying cloaks can be done in this engine need to ask yourself why you don't have a string on your bow. Engine limitations.
I understand the frustration of not having cloaks or strings on the bows, but I wouldn't automatically chalk it up to a deficiency in the engine. While I will admit I have no technical knowledge of the engine or anything, I would gather that instead of engine limitations, it was more likely time and resource limitations as to why we don't see those sorts of visual flourishes in the game. Like I said earlier, they can't just keep adding stuff to the game or else it would never be released. It probably came down to "Well do we want bow strings and cloaks in the game or do we want more animations and dialogue choices and cutscenes?"
Of course I could be totally wrong and maybe there is some technical engine issue that prevents that from being the case, but I doubt it. I just hope that Bioware can continue making the engine a bit prettier, not unlike how Valve has been able to keep updating the Source engine to keep it looking good 5 years since Half-Life 2 came out.

I don't think you took me seriously. I'm not an idiot. Let me repeat this for you: Engine limitations. I've seen it here, from BioWare staff that the weapon models do NOT support animation so there are no bowstrings.

I know about that "problem" with engine... But they might develop the engine for future games so it could support weapon animation for Dragon Age 2 release... But that is just speculation. Anyway I don't have a problem with engine. I like it just the way it is, if Dragon Age 2 would have the same graphics as Dragon Age: Origins I'd be happy just if it would have the same level of the game story and dialogue...
In hope I'm understandable,
Best Wishes...

Don't have any clue why the rest of the game world has adopted cloaks and Bioware hasn't.

If only there was a dream world where people with good ideas met with others who executed them flawlessly.
It would simply be called: Brain Main.

City of Heroes had to deal with this with capes.
Animating this stuff is pretty intensive, and doing it right more-so.
City of Heroes eventually added the capes.
I'm sure when DA 2 comes you'll see many embellishments, like probably capes.

Several games I've played that have cape graphics also have a popular option to disable the display of those capes. And for this game, if they include a cape slot I'd use it for stats because otherwise I'd be gimping my characters - but unless Bioware can succeed where everyone else fails miserably - I'd want the option to hide the capes. Because I don't think the DA engine can do it right either. Just look at the hair.

Why are the wooden merchant carts in this game glossy? How many merchants have you seen busting out the cart polish?
Because that's how it is. They polish them. That's why they shine. Go look at Bodan's cart. It's effing beautiful. It's like self-polishing superwood they made that beast out of.
