See but you are thinking of something that probably can't be done...

Yet almost all the time modders are able to implement these features. And they can't even alter the engine code.
Believe me, it's not a matter of can't be done. It's a matter of priority.

I guess pretty cloaks aren't priority...and it doesn't take much to take some of the clothes and change its color....or to pull something from the game already...or up the texture and graphics...We are talking about true development  from stratch that includes having to have models for this along with people having to design ways to fight with the cape

You must be pretty new to what modders can do nowadays. They don't always just recolor textures and stuff, they can add their own exclusively created objects, or import them from other applications.
And, yes, I firmly believe that cloaks aren't a high priority when creating a huge game like DA:O.

Yes...import from other applications...something already done to be imported to another game....but really...if people want cloaks, can't they do it themselves?

Yes, not everyone has an expensive 3D program, or knows how to work with them.
Same goes for people wanting to add cloaks but don't know how. No-one ever said it would be easy.

So, it is better to yell at Bioware, right??? Because they decided to scrap it for something more important probably??? Like...shrinking Shale?

I find it funny that I'm being accused of yelling at Bioware for this. Do you actually read what I've been writing?

Alright, wrong word than. Complaining, complaining I guess is a better word than yelling.

Yeah I'm pretty sure he's typing instead of yelling why he tries to devour our brains with his hypnotic quote box. Got my tin foil hat, good sir.

Ohh.. did I hurt your feelings?

When I speak of mods, I'm not exclusively talking about DA:O, man. Expand your horizons a bit.
Also, if you had read through this thread a tad, you would have come across some messages that actually mentioned discovered hidden slot for cloaks.

I know about the slot for cloaks, but it's not there anymore. Guess what you're going to have to do? The same thing I just mentioned. Whether your unhiding it or creating a new one, you're gonna be modding the interface.

Also if you're not talking about Dragon Age here you should talk about whatever you're discussing in a different forum for obvious reasons.

Nope. I'm not even complaining. I'm simply stating an observation. You must be confused with some other people in this thread.

The only three examples of cloth I know of in this game are clothing, robes, and banners that are animated to sway in the wind even in rooms where there is no wind.

Unless you have the Cloak and Dagger fighting skill™.  Then you're a nasty combination of flying daggers and deadly virgin wool.

Hmm.. so you call this respectful disagreement? I call that provocation, sir.
Not to mention your little strawman tactic that I wasn't talking about DA:O at all.
Give it a rest already.

hmm,
Cloaks = good
Hypnotic quote boxes = evil.

Sorry, I just see what he means with quote boxes here.  They have that falling rectangle effect.  Never noticed that before. And now I'm making myself dizzy.

As much as this fellow makes it looks like a minority shouting louder than everyone else; I honestly believe that the majority of people who play Bioware games would rejoice in the implementation of Cloaks and Capes.

Maybe not party in the streets, since they'd mostly be home-bodies, but it would be a silent hurrah.

I h8 people. Dragon Age has 99% good stuff and 1% bad stuff and people can't stop with pointless hate(some call it "constructive criticism") about that 1% ...

Think about it.  We pay money for games.  The company (bioware) makes the games for us and include things in the games  that people would want.  Apparently alot of people including myself like having cloaks in fantasy rpg games.  We are part of the consumer base and are requesting that bioware includes this feature.  Thats just called basic consumer rights.  We pay for it so we want to get the best bang for our buck.  Its as simple as that.  If you don't agree then you shouldn't find it too hard to ignore this thread.  Posting "hate" as you call it on a thread that you don't agree with over and over again for the sake of disagreement is being a troll...

Why does everyone care about the function of the cloak/cape? I want the appearance of it to make me look fearsome and dangerous. The mage hoods need some improvement too. They just seem too... tight. Julius Cesar wore a cloak when he rode into battle. The Spartans wore cloaks into battle. I wear a cloak when I ride into battle. The Germans in WWII wore a cloak into battle. This game also needs MASKS. Whose with me?

Im confused.  I thought forums were where developers said to go and talk about the game and air all your suggestions and or grievances.

Certainly. Saying that you'd like cloaks is one thing. Implying that the reason they're not there is because we don't know enough people want them is quite something else.

I did not know that it was necessary nor appropriate for a staff member to basically allude to their disapproval of my post even if i am not breaking any of the forum rules.  I learn something new everyday.

When did anyone say that you broke a forum rule? I don't only disapprove of people's posts when they break the rules, you know. Some people seem to believe otherwise, but simply having an opinion doesn't mean you can't be wrong.

But having said that thanks for at least acknowledging the post and letting us know that the developers are still at least thinking about it.  And by the way its actually a good thing that the only thing that i thought was worth complainging about was something as trivial as cloaks.  That should resound as a testament of this being a very good game.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game. And we'll always consider any reasonable and polite request, even if they've come up many times before. As I said before, we're well aware of the bells & whistles that players would like to have -- sadly, bells & whistles are usually in short supply when you're making the kind of game that requires so much content simply to meet basic requirements for the genre.

That should have been your first post. I've read several others from you and you really are rude. I don't expect you to kiss your customers ass but you could at least be courteous and if you can't then you shouldn't post here at all. You did great work with the game. I appreciate it. But you are extremely defensive, condescending and seem to get off on opportunities to belittle people. You're not helping yourself, your company or the overall maturaity level (read: enjoyment / relevance) on these forums with your childish behavior.

I'll always respond to courteous and reasonable posts in kind. Beyond that, I'll leave it to my company to decide how well I represent them. Thanks for the feedback, anyhow.

I like how in this community we ge adiquite responses. People like David here answer our questions and give us input. I would just like to remind everyone: David Gaider is a human he is allowed to have emotions. Although the snarky remark was not 100% professional it was rather entertaining. I like to think that as the RPG audience we are more mature then most gamers out there. So please everyone understand that developers are humans regardless of the fact that they are employees.

So with that said, I would like to see cloaks and hoods. I would also like to see mage apparel that is not hideous. All the power to DA2 lets hope it happens.

Cheers.

What a wonderful thread.

I like a good cape.

But then I don't care that much really.

To be honest I am only posting at this ungodly hour because even the quote boxes haven't got me to sleep. The entertainment value has been great though and I sort of hope this tips it over to page 14. Epic.
