I have to admit a simple thing like cloaks would really draw in the atmosphere of the game, cloaks were often mentioned in both books and the practical use of them would be needed for any adventurer or grey warden, armor while good at protecting you from taking damage wasnt exactly designed to keep out the cold and you cant exactly wear a cotton studden leather jacket over your armor so cloaks made for the easiest way to wrap up when traveling, exploring dungeons and used as a blanket to sleep, the charecters do look abit plain without one, but then again it still goes down to the list of things on the wish list that never came true for the game, along with bow strings and horses, they mention horses now and again in game but you dont even catch a glimpse of one, not even with the merchant at the camp next to the cart! i ask you how does he pull it!? how!?

Haha i was half expecting someone to come out with that, i suppose thats as good of an explanation as any, deffintly better than the image of them pulling a cart 3x the size of them across the land. Though i really wish the bioware team could of atleast changed the dialouge of some of the NPC's from 'we are going to ride into battle!' to 'we are going to charge into battle!', with no horses i get stuck with the image of the Monty Python 'Holy Grail' horse riding with the clapping coconuts, somehow Loigain just loses his fear factor when picturing him pretening to ride into the fray with his squire slapping the coconuts togeather in the background. In fact..now i think about it, i do recall i certein conversation with an in game NPC about there arnt any horses in Fereldun but Orlais has them... now thats just a cheap way of Bioware trying to make sense of them not being around!

I don't know if you guys played the original Neverwinter Nights, but all of this was talked about so long in that game. Eventually people started making mods and then it was added into the game later by DLC. Same with horses and many other things. I know it doesn't seem plausible that the merchant in the camp pulls his cart around by hand, but I am sure they will add more stuff in later, either in DLC, mods, or a new game. I miss the cloaks as well, they really add to the game, and were always used heavily in anyPnP D&D game I played in my youth. Rogues having stealth cloaks, nymph cloaks etc are classic. Also elves and rangers. I'm sure they will figure that out later. Like someone mentioned, it takes time to make the animation look decent for capes and cloaks.

Tho I admit I would have liked having cloaks simply for the visuals, it's not something that has kept me awake during night.

Drizzt Do'Urden wears a shirt of dwarven mithril chainmail, and in the art for the newer books he sports a full suit of hardened leather armor.

it depends on what book cover there are two different releases ot the whole series i have the whole thing but the art work is mixed. its pretty hard to find all twenty or so books from one release. not to mention the leather armor on the cover is nothing like the descriptions in book of what he wears

the chainmail he wears is virtualy weightless and he hides it under his shirt .

all that said its just somthing that i think would be nice and by no means makes me dislike the game

The fact that Drizzt's armor is nearly weightless does not somehow make it something other than armor. That's just an advantage of the armor Salvatore cooked up so he could have old school-style "lol who needs armor" characters running around in artwork made for the book. The newer artwork where Drizzt is in hardened leather makes a lot more sense. If you're excepting a fight, you wear as much armor as is feasible for the situation. This has been true since armor's inception, and will never not be true.

ill give you that. but its a lot different from the suits of armor that they forced upon you. this game with the party system is the closest to a game writen by salvatore that i have played. with the party system and all. so my drizzt would not need to be fully armored what with brunor and wulfgur up close and catti-brie shooting arrows i could just run through backstabing and slashing tendons. to i have just had this rather fond image of the rogue brewing in my head since reading those books that i haven't been able to satisfy with most character creation games.

im gonna be able to rp for so long after all my playthroughs

Where are the cloaks you ask? They were all eaten up by hungry horses. The horses were then all killed by men with spears. The men with spears well you don't want to know what happened to them.

Actually they were all forced to mate with the brood mother.

i cant state how glad i am that there is no cloaks! they generally just look horrible! like in nwn2 and so many other rpgs.

And the headgear in this game! Owmaigawd, i just want to scratch my eyes out every time i look at it :(

My char's ass is fine and i like to stare at it while i explore....

That said though, if there is to be added cloaks or such later i'll pray for a "hide cloak" and "hide helmet" option o_O
