Wow. So... you mean that some people really like cloaks?DragonAgeNeedsCapesOrCloaks wrote...
i posted this in an attempt to get responses and maybe support from those who may agree with me so hopefully in a perfect world bioware will get the idea and put them in the game.
We had no idea.
Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. If we had only known that there were people out there who think cloaks are neat, we might have added them onto the pile sooner. Our bad.

A
cloak would be nice for rogues. The hobbits wore cloaks that could
camouflage them so maybe stealth bonus and a dex requirement.
they definitely should be the items that have the stats that rogues or
mages would benefit from. Like for example if the cloaks were
enchanted or something they could give you buffs like the way the mage
hoods do and or attract less attention for your character.
Also i definitely don't need them to look like all that realistic i
mean its not as if the rest of the clothes in the game look flowing and
life like either.
Cloaks would not decrease people's notice of you.

Cloaks, esp. invisibility cloaks would definitely decrease people's notice of you.

Ooh, petty sarcasm. You know, that would go over so much better if I didn't have to watch Alistair's templar armor clip through the character model in every cut scene. Then I might actually buy the "we had to spend limited resources to get the more important things just so, rather than wasting them on cloaks and bowstrings" argument.
You guys ought stick to what worked so well for you in Mass Effect - license an engine and do what you're good at, the storytelling, instead of getting huffy when someone calls you on how mediocre and unambitious the technology behind some of your titles has been. Then you might even be able to use actual gameplay footage in the TV ad campaign, instead of pre-rendered CGI that doesn't look anything like it...
Hey, maybe CDProjekt will let you use one of theirs, it'd be only fair.

There's not an unused slot, you're probably thinking of the helm slot.
Wrong. There is a HIDDEN and unused cloak slot on the paperdoll. You can see what I mean if you play with the toolset. The reason you don't know about it? It's HIDDEN, as the guy said. And yes, there is a mod which will hide the helm which uses this HIDDEN slot.

Sure, but the premise behind the thread (apparently) was "we want cloaks, and maybe if we say so the developers will realize it and add them." To which my response is "duh". We already know that players like cloaks. They want MOAR -- cloaks, scabbards, bowstrings, spears, longer hair, pretty dresses, halberds, horses, bigger boobs, smaller boobs, whiter teeth and a slider in everyone's stocking at Christmas... I mean, do you really think the reason we don't add most of these things is simply because we don't know that people want them?bjdbwea wrote...
I think I have to agree. Sarcasm does the developers no credit, not when the initial complaint was valid. I for one don't like or need cloaks, but then I wouldn't have needed to use them. Just another small thing, but it adds up, especially in the models/animations sector.
I love cloaks. I think cloaks are awesome. I hope we get to add them at some point.

What matters is if whatever gets left out is eventually added via mod or hotfix, and any bugs that were missed by the in-house testers do get fixed.
....I'm such a slow poster.

Yay! Cloaks! Cloaks ARE awesome. In fact, I'm sewing one for a fantasy/medieval costume I'm trying to make. Maybe I'll make a red tabard with a silvery griphon on it and call it my Grey Warden uniform. Mwaha.
Anyway, the use of MOAR made me LOL. Seriously. Also, horses and pretty dresses would be lovely... especially if said pretty dresses may be put on Alistair to force him to dance the Remigold.

Ummmm. excuse be goodsir. I can notice out of that fine list there that you left out waffles. I like waffles, and maybe if I say it you will remember that I and others like waffles so, in the future when you write a list of good stuff that should be implemented (slider in stockings? Is that a metaphor of something) but prolly will not can you add waffles to that great list please?

Okay, fair enough. Though with all due respect, I can't help but wonder what your animators and modelers did all that time. Working on other games is the only explanation I can imagine. It all looked better in Mass Effect (well, except for the hair, which was nearly as terrible as in DA. Does anyone remember that even NWN 1 had animated hair?).
By the way, NWN 1 had cloaks, but initially they were invisible. Were added with a patch later. (And as always, people complained about that too.)

Why is it when someone says "with all due respect" they really mean "kiss my ass"? (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
Yup, the animators and modelers were actually playing chairball instead of working on the game. No cloaks INCREDIBLY lightened the graphics and animations of the game and so left them with a lot of free time. As they had nothing else to work on with regards to such things in Dragon Age, they ate a lot of pie.
