Cloaks would be cool but if their inclusion would have meant the game being delayed until March cause of the time needed to animate etc. I'm fine with them being out.

As for utility its important to keep in mind that while in RL they were only used in cold weather, in DAO folks toss blizzards your way at a moments notice so they might have a bit more combat utility.

Also they help distinguish the nobility and upper crust from filthy peasant rabble, elves and the casteless.

The Mass Effect team must not be nearly as interesting.

Besides just keeping you warm, some cloaks could have seals or symbols on them representing some random faction you are deeply allied to.

I think it's more that people have no sense of humor anymore and expect deadpan responses from developers instead of having developers who are willing to joke with their players.

Oh, by the way. The developers of Mass Effect will do the same thing when the game gets released. They will make fun of you. And you will like it.

I don't want my back warm, I want my chest warm. Maybe with enough support we can let the developers know we want Snuggies. And a Pet Snuggie for dog.

Cloaks should also make one more vulnerable to pinning shot.

i posted this in an attempt to get responses and maybe support from those who may agree with me so hopefully in a perfect world bioware will get the idea and put them in the game.

Wow. So... you mean that some people really like cloaks?

We had no idea.

Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. If we had only known that there were people out there who think cloaks are neat, we might have added them onto the pile sooner. Our bad.

And swimming.

And jumping...
Over the fences or to a river of lava.... why can XXXXX or XXXXX do it and we cannot? I have suicidal tendencies!  *search for a cloack to hide*

And I love when devs become just regular persons with humor and all, instead of untouchable superhumans rockstars!

Mr. Gaider, I think I love you. In a completely heterosexual way, of course.

Kinda skimmed through so I don't know if anyone mentioned this: I think people are misunderstanding the "stealthiness" of a cloak. It's not useful in the sense of "you're not noticeable" it's useful in the sense of concealment. Ya know... hide your head/face (with a hood), clothes/armor, small weapons, etc.

WOOOSH! Is the sound of things going over your head ;)

Hey! no one commented on that post with the green invisibility cloak that guy (girl?) was wearing! Do you think it was done with mirrors? We should get a cloak like that for our rogues, because if it happened in real life, surely it should happen in fantasy life too.

"Friendly" responses tend to be PR-approved canned messages that contain little information and are almost universally boring.  American consumers need to get off their high horse a little bit and stop expecting to be treated as gods just because they fork over a couple of bucks.  Frankly, I don't find David's sarcastic comment mean in any way.  Especially, when the thread is started with a all caps title and a username clearly created for attention.  Not to mention, having a low understanding of how much work it takes to make cloaks look good (hello clipping) and not presenting a lot of good arguments on why cloaks are needed.  The funny thing is I agree with him/her completely and yet I didn't see David's post as unfriendly because it shows more of the "other side" and was also slightly amusing (I am a sucker for sarcasm).  Please do not ever encourage/petition the developers of any game to be more "friendly", the last thing I want is more c/p bull**** develper responses.

There were no put downs. If I wanted to be mean I would have said that anyone who honestly believes that we developers don't know that RPG fans like the idea of cloaks, and that this is the reason we didn't have them in DAO, is being foolishly naive. I would also have said that anyone who takes offense on someone else's behalf regarding a snarky response to be a hyper-sensitive wackadoodle.

But I would never say such things. Because I am not mean. Image IPB

So, purely out of curiosity, was it time constraints, a technical issue or perhaps a balancing issue, that made you guys hide the cloak slot ? It's not much of a big deal anyway (and I'm willing to wager not much of a "secret" either :P)

The cloak slot is there because, at one time, we had cloaks. They were never actually made, but there was a plan for them -- and if I remember right, when they were cut there was initially a plan to keep them as items which simply didn't show up on your character (hence the "hidden" nature, perhaps?). That didn't last long, and perhaps the slot was never removed entirely on the hopes that we would one day be able to add it back in. Ideally, we'd like to have it. Done correctly, they would probably look pretty cool... but there's the rub, no?
