Also why the hell would "Reaper tech" make EDI "good" as opposed to better programming, a more stable personality, etc?
I was unaware that Sovereign's hardware had an anti-evil feature.
So if AIs are good why do we need synthesis again?Nyoka wrote...
The reapers are the problem, not the solution. Synthesis doesn't get rid of them.
Yes,
the creator of the reapers tells you the reapers aren't a problem. No,
really? The guy who created them doesn't think they're bad? I can't
imagine why.
The Catalyst would never bend the truth to favour it's agenda!
Well aside from denying that it kills anyone and making arguments from authority... but aside from that it's totally trustworthy!

Not a good thing, but anyway.
Not this point. The randomated thing you started yesterday, asked me whether I knew what a technological singularity was, before running away without expanding on the point.

Here's a recap.
I said the Catalyst's problem is irrelevant, I ignore it. For the purposes of choosing, I believe synthetics wont try to wipe out all organic life.
You asked me if I knew what a technological singularity was.
I do, it's something I'm quite familiar with.

Prove it.
Humans are quite evidently not just sentient, we can communicate and interact with judgement and emotion.
The belief that just because they are smarter means they treat us worse is frankly absurd. I treat my two dogs very well and I respect them.
And look at the things we do to animals.
Lots of things.
We certainly don't try to eradicate every single one including bacteria of all varieties for no known reason.

This would be dragons age origins if you never knew about the darkspawn threat and focused for 3 games on stopping logan. Once you get to logan he gives you 3 options.
1-Kill him,
2- negotiate a deal where you take the throne, but he becomes your lead general
3 combine humans and darkspawn, ending the threat of a future human extinction by darkspawn.
The reapers hint at some greater purpose for all three games. but they wait for the last 5 mins to fully explain the problem and ask for your help. This is disorienting and frustrating.

The analogy is also faulty. It's more like solving the Catholic/Protestant schism by catapulting both sides beyond the need for religion at all.
And by doing this, you're violating their right to worship a religion. I'm not religious, but I'd never deny anyone this right.

They do not love or hate you, but they can use your atoms for something else.
Tech singularity will push synthetics towards a state that we cannot comprehend. Even current synthetics such as Legion cannot comprehend what will result after the dyson spheres construction.
Ants cannot comprehend humans and look how nonchalantly we kill them. Apathy can be just as bad as intent.

Which means nothing.
Ants cannot comprehend humans and look how nonchalantly we kill them. Apathy can be just as bad as intent.
Ants are not sapient. Should an ant so much as WRITE IN THE DIRT telling us "Hold! What you are doing is wrong! Why do you do this thing?" you can damn well bet we'd stop treating ants so casually.

A lot of you guys believe Synthesis is evil and doesn't solve the Synthetic vs. Organic conflict, but it does indeed.
Now that Mr.Kaku has explained that merging with the machines will open a new era and why he believes we should embrace the tech. singularity and that's what Synthesis does.Merges us with the machines.
When Mr.Kaku said that merging with the machines will make us like the gods and we'll evolve beyond human standards means the Starchild was correct when he said Synthesis is the final evolution of life.
Yeah, because voluntarily embracing synthesis is TOTALLY THE SAME as forcing eugenics upon the galaxy.
No.

They could.
If they ever reach that stage, devalue all other life, win some sort of conflict, and need it.
Tech singularity will push synthetics towards a state that we cannot comprehend.
Nope!
It's not a gradual process. It happens. Synthetics will have a level of intelligence above humans. That does not mean we can't understand them.
It does not mean they will try to kill everyone.
Regardless, the serpent does not talk about a singularity, its implementation as an explanation behind its words is a fan invention.
Even current synthetics such as Legion cannot comprehend what will result after the dyson spheres conclusion.
The dyson sphere does not result in a 'conclusion'.
Ants cannot comprehend humans and look how nonchalantly we kill them. Apathy can be just as bad as intent.
Ants aren't trying to understand humans.
