My point was that, as you stated, many fans of ME complained about something regarding the games, but then, later on, began to praise that particular something instead.

And you do, of course, have records to show that it is the same individuals in both cases?

I might quantise people into, say, four groups:

 1. "I like feature X."
 2. "Feature X is neat in concept, but could really do with better implementation."
 3. "Feature X is awful, but I'm not impossible - prove me wrong - not gonna happen, but I dare you!"
 4. "Feature X is atrocious, irredeemable."

Can you show me any number of people from group 3 or 4, who have switched to 1 or 2?

Since I´m not really a nitpicker I can only say that I remember a substantial amount of critique of ME2 on different forums and whatnot prior to the release of ME3, but now I barely see any. Maybe it´s because the attention has been diverted to ME3 instead, I don´t know, but I rarely see any flack against ME2 anymore.
What I´m saying is that I just find it interesting that the "tone" when talking about ME2 has generally changed since the release of ME3. I don´t know if those who criticized ME2 have changed their opinon, if they have just become silent, focused their attention on ME3, drowned out by the whole ME3 debacle or whatnot.

i miss the whole massive feel to it and customisation, equipping squadmates with different armour.

Dude. I don't know what it is, but I loved the Mako and elevator rides.

Waxing goddamn nostalgic.

All pink man. Do you know how freaking stupid Garrus looks in pink armor?

I love it.

I miss the feeling at the end of ME1. The feeling of "This universe is great, and I can do great things in it". I can achieve much more.

The hope and promise of a future. ME3 is a great game, fantastic in all aspects but one - the ending has a "funeral" mood that kills my motivation. I can rationally realize that there is still potential for the franchise, but ME3's ending makes me feel that all I do will be in vain.

The exploration for sure. Just being able to pick a planet and drive around.

Honestly...the more I think about it, the more I realize how blase Mass Effect 1 as an RPG was. I do miss the banter, I miss the character customization, and I miss Wrex as a squadmate, but overall most of Mass Effect 1 didn't really wow me, a hardcore RPG fan, until I got to Mass Effect 2, where I started to care and notice the universe and its complexities as a whole more.

A story that made sense and had a satisfying ending.

-Variety of choice for how the "linear" story progresses
-Cutscenes in final fight (ahem, including the Normandy)
-The Mass Effect Main Theme!!
-How my personal history choices felt more implemented (Colonist, Spacer, Earthborn, etc)

So you are saying ME2 was a better RPG than ME1?

Wow BSN sure does love them some ME2.

Exploration is definitelty something I miss.

But I do miss being able to pick the order I do the main missions, a journal that is actually useful and updates itself, having Wrex in the squad (no Krogan squadmate in ME3 D= )

I also miss being able to actually talk to the characters on the Normandy, instead of listening to them talk in banter form (click and listen)

Having Wrex on my squad...or atleast some type of Krogan. There should have been a Krogan instead of EDI. I liked EDI's story but she sucked in battle.

Will anyone kill me if I say the Mako? I loved that tank, it made me feel like the universe was humongous and let me tell you I had a heart attack when I ran into my first thresher maw. I also loved the sense of discovery, even if I was directed to specific parts of the map I could find random hunks of minerals along the way, and most of the time you didn't know what lay at that check point on the map. I remember using the prothean artifact that the Consort gave me and being blown away that there was a purpose for it on this planet in the middle of nowhere.

Also Mako Mountain Climbing Team for life! Image IPBImage IPBImage IPB

Edit: Also after reading a few other posts I realized that I too missed the journal system of ME1. ME3's didn't organize things very well or have check points for quests and definitely lacked locations for most of the fetch quests (by which I mean it would often tell me only the planet's name without telling me the cluster or system it was in).

I miss the mako, and the elevator rides, the exploration and the immersive amazing story line. ME1 was my favourite. I still love ME2 and ME3, but there's just something about 1...

The thing I missed the most from ME1 was the sense of exploration. Just the simple act of walking around the Citadel for the first time or driving across an uncharted world made me feel like I discovering something new and wonderful all the time. I recognize, though, that a lot of this was due to that being my first exposure to the world of Mass Effect, so it's not really something that can be repeated

Me too.  For all the flak that the Mako got, which it did deserve, it at least gave the impression that you were exploring.  I was doing a full run of the trilogy and I realized that I really missed it.

No real use of Sprites, space Combat wasn't flash lights beaming off in the background with little orange clouds.

Not that much really.
