The sense of being overwhelmed by a giant universe. It felt like the first time I played KOTOR. Which is a good thing.

to be fair, its very tough to get that same feeling in any sequel.

sort of like how when you're 5 years old, everything looks far different than when you're 20 and then when you're 30.

after all, something can only be new and unknown one time.

Being able to crouch whilst not in cover.

Sniping was actually difficult.

A lot more depth in the story and a hell of a lot more dialogue if you wanted to ask all the questions.

Although the gameplay, the feel and atmosphere of the story in ME2 and ME3 and the climatic scenes and even the endings were way better, Although the ending for ME3 kinda sucked it still made me like "aw dayum that was a good game"

- Proper dialogue-system
- The illusion of having a vast galaxy to explore
- Somewhat coherent storytelling
- A satisfying ending

Overheating weapons vs. ammo-based thermal clips. Still makes NO SENSE whatsoever to change it.

I miss talking to NPC's and getting side missions rather than eavesdropping on people.

I miss Lift as well.

I miss feeling like a part of a living interactive world rather than a player.
ex: I talked to Kohaku and got a side story line that later fed into the main plot. I talked to the one guys brother and then went to save him and he was dead so I went back to tell him and he was devastated. I talked to the bargirl and saved heer sister and in the process killed some krogan and pissed off CSec. I got a visit from a messed up slave girl or an old gang buddy from my past and saved or killed a btch depending on my mood and chracter.

I badassed 2 twerpy scientists before doing them a favor. I had sex with the consort and was so good she gave me a trinket that led me to a prothean artifact. I had long thoughtful conversatons with my crew and learned about their pasts and who they were and how they became those people.

And I really miss the big speeches that made me feel so badass like the speech at the beginning of ME1 or the Suicide mission speech in ME2.

I miss playing a thoughtful emotional and intense RPG.

I ****ing hate shooters

Difficult, yes, I agree. But still possible. ME2 felt like I was now seeing this dark, seedy side of a place I thought I knew. 'Twas fantastic.

Same here.

Also:
- The atmosphere on Ilos
- The final mission in general, including the ending
- Having Wrex on the team

Having said that, I think ME1 is actually the weakest game in the series all things considered (this is only my opinion, not trying to force it down anyone's throat), unfortunately. It had the highest highs, but also the lowest lows (well, excluding ME3's ending). Some of the massive lows:

- Side missions (what a bore! One of the biggest reasons I don't really feel like going back to it)
- Extremely clunky combat
- Only two interesting crewmates (always rolled with Wrex & Garrus)

-Exploration, giving me a sense that there were a galaxy out there to explore
-Mako and planetside trips, Yes, the mako were frustrating sometimes but it gave some good immersion and nice vistas
-as others have written "The sensation that I've just stepped into a futuristic world rife with possibility and wonder."
-RPG, I could create the kind of character I liked to play, not having to play archetypes

with shortcomings and all, I've spent about 3 times the time on ME1 than on ME2 and about 5-6 times more on ME1 than on ME3,

C
