I have no idea what is up, but my microphone works fine through Windows and through my SoundMax  audio driver, but it doesn't work in multiplayer.

I can't seem to find any setting in the Mass Effect 3 options or Control Panel that might make it not work, but I can confirm it work through my Volume Control and SoundMax test program in Windows.  Hmm....

Any ideas?

Me too, works in windows, does not in ME3 MP. Would be nice if I could warn my teammates sometimes (Creative X-fi fatality gamer soundcard).

I have this issue also. I had a hard drive crash and was able to use the mic in ME3 after a complete windows reinstall, but now am not able to again. As everyone else, Skype or any other app works fine accessing the mic. I have a SupremeFX X-Fi built onto my motherboard (ASUS Maximus III Formula). It's very frustrating. Does anybody know of an update that may be on the way possibly in the near future? Or is this more of a pipe dream?

I have this same problem, and same card. I also tried plugging the mic into my motherboard's built in sound, and while I get a new option in the ME3 mic config, that doesn't work either.

I was seeing the same thing. Another post suggested turning the volume up on the mic (from the Windows Recording Devices). Lo and behold that worked for me.

When I pressed tab, I didn't see anything (sounds waves emanating from the speaker icon). I turned the volume from like 30 to 80 and now I'm working - sound waves and all. Weird.

Maybe key bindings if push-to-talk. Sometimes other applications can interfere with bindings as well, so try closing everything you can first. If you use a key binding, change it temporarily and try again; if you don't, try using push-to-talk for one game as a test.

One thing for sure is that at least on PC we need a mechanism to see sound levels, which would also serve as a test for push-to-talk or any other issue.
