Do not want.
I actually like working for a goal <_<
Pick a random bar on any given Saturday night. I assure you, 'getting lucky' is indeed regarded as a goal, and quite a popular one.

Having more variety in the packs, that will allow players like me to ensure that what we get out of the store is at least in the right *category*, is a big step forward and I applaud it wholeheartedly.
Now if they also eventually introduce that platinum difficulty to appease the end-gamers who already have all their gear maxed, then that's pretty much a win-win across the board for players of all stripes.

This will never get purchased unless they are offering the BF3 soldier. I guess this is BW trolling us for all the "stop the character cards" threads.

Looks like I just went from having to play 3+/- games for a PSP to absurd amounts just for one of these special packs. Speculation, sure, but I doubt these will go for anything less than 100K credits, if they're available for for credit purchasing at all.
Then buy PSP's. Many of us that have maxxed out most of the cruft have to play 14+ games to get something new.

Take a look at my manifest. I was missing 5 characters before the DLC - now I'm missing 11 - and I've been playing as much as I can since launch.
The mystery character packs are for people like me (and you can bet that if they did release them, I would buy some), not the hardcores.

An official word on this would be nice, so, you know, I can start saving up my credits.
Indeed... with the listing prices seems like I'm going to need well over a million

What fun is it for people who get consistantly screwed by the RNG? None.

Maybe for you. For me, it's fun to use whatever the hell I want to use to have fun, rather than using the stuff that the RNG god decides to bless me with. Games these days have gone way overboard with their progression and unlock systems...supertitan wrote...

It's not fun. The game just feels like a grind until I get the stuff I want unlocked.

We are (hopefully) all here to have fun. I would find the game more fun and rewarding if I could purchase (at a significantly increased credit price of course) a pack that would have an upgrade for the gun I wanted. Due to my limited play time, it would still take me weeks/months to get a rare/N7 gun to level X, but at least I would have a hope of getting the rare/N7 gun that suits my playstyle to level X. As it currently stands, I doubt I'll ever get any N7 weapon at more than level 2 or with some stupid luck maybe 3, and no guarantee I'll ever get an N7 gun I would want (I do have the Valiant I which is nice, but haven't gotten any upgrades to it).
And because I don't have "good" guns, I frequently get voted out of Gold matches (even though I can hold my own on the score chart and get through Gold matches to extraction when not voted out), which means I'm stuck usually at Silver earning less credits, which just compounds the problem.
And don't answer that if I don't have the time I could just purchase packs, if I'm going to gamble with real money I'll go to Vegas, thanks
Oh, and on top of it all, EA support screwing me out of Commendation packs that do have N7 weapons in them doesn't help reduce my frustration at the game. I should have got a commendation pack out of Operation Silencer, but didn't. When I contacted EA support, they told me to wait 48 hours because there had been a problem and they were delayed. When I contacted them after 48 hours they told me Commendation packs were only available for a limited time, weren't available anymore, and I should have contacted them sooner. And this was in response to a ticket where they could see I had opened the initial ticket when the packs were still available. Not sure they could give worse support if you tried. Wait, I probably shouldn't give them ideas . . .
